I used to have beautiful glass storage containers but they often smashed to the floor when other family members used the kitchen and so for safety reasons changed them all to hard plastic or stainless steel. I keep cooking oils and seasoning bottles on a wooden turntable on the counter for easy access.
Yes, we need to arrange our kitchen according to the family needs. If they can't handle glass containers better to use plastic which is unbreakable and safe for kids.
