Somewhere, way way back in his subconscious, Timothy suspected he would indeed one day be killed by a bear. But, the longer he spent out there building his world with Sgt Brown and Mr Chocolate and the sinister Grinch, the more entrenched his belief that these apex predators gave him their 'affection'... that they knew him and 'welcomed' his return each year. Who really knows why these bears did not tear him to pieces at any point because he looked to be pretty close to some damage at many points in the documentary. I have always felt immense sadness for Timothy... He thought he belonged there, among those animals, when his reality was that he did not. To wander among them, like he was part of their great mystery was delusional in the extreme. That last piece to camera he did, with the rain pattering and the wind rustling the bushes... It breaks my heart. I think he knew. On a visceral level. But his ego made him stay when he should have packed and run. His killer was watching and Tim knew it. A most hideous death for these two people. It shouldn't have happened... 😔

Who is she to question that? It would be hard to say no if she truly loves him and he is so passionate about bears. She would probably just trust him.
It was his responsibility to warn her and maybe even strongly advice her against coming along.
Again I am maybe being a bit unfair here as I don't know for certain that he didn't do these things but my honest thought on him, seeing his shows and public appearances and how naively he speaks about bears is that he most likely did not warn her or advise against it and probably rather convinced her.

I hardly find Letterman prophetic. EVERYONE ... literally EVERYONE was telling Tim to not do this. To get out of there. He was "hassled" by rangers that wanted him to leave. His family, I'm telling you... everyone knew this was going to be the end of him. His girlfriend never went with him for the duration on his first 6 trips. She visited him once for a while. And, she finally went with him on his last trip there. She helped film him and was only in front of the camera's 2-3 times briefly. This was his "baby". But she went. And it cost her her life. Sometimes, we MUST listen to the still small voice inside that says..."do not go no matter what your heart says or how much you love someone, you know the danger is too high. you must not go". And when he had his 6 lucky trips where they didn't kill him, she acquiesced, and supported him by going. And he was taken down. And she was screaming to him as he was having limbs snapped and his body played with like a tennis ball with a Mastiff. And then the bear ate her too. When you have no protection from wild animals, you are beyond naive, and you go into mental defect to do what he did. And it's ok if you want to kill YOUR own self via wild animals. But he killed his girlfriend with his ego and false confidence. Just as many before him, with WILD animals have done. ie. Lady with the chimpanzee that went into a teenager with testosterone and snapped one day and almost killed the owner who swore the chimp would NEVER hurt anyone. Well he did. He attacked her and then her best friend raced to her aid, and the chimp literally ate her friend's face right off of her, and her fingers. She admits it's very sad to have a "face" that scares children. But she is very very lucky to have survived to tell the tale. And it is a WARNING. Stop managing wild creatures that you cannot pick up and put in your pocket to let it settle always with a leash. Never cause your friends in your dangerous choices of wild animal keeping. A man and wife with their beloved boa ate their infant daughter. Woke to find him with a big lump in his middle. And wondered what he ate. Oh the baby. Don't be "oh, the baby" kind of reckless stupidity. Talk people out of it. If they refuse to listen to reason, you cut them out of your life. You cannot visit them. You cannot have him/her/them visit with their wild animal. Timothy didn't die a quick death. The bear didn't just side swipe his head off.. which bears can do with their razor sharp claws and massive brutal strength. It has happened many times. No. Tim took over 9 minutes to die and feel all that was happening to him. And hear his girlfriends screams and in his shock and horror.. he did not say "i love you bear, you may eat me". He did say in his movie that they would NEVER eat him. But if they did, he was ok with that.

I guess in his mind he thought that by being around them without any protection the bears will eventually see him as one of their own. He even said in the doc that if he shows 'weakness' they will probably attack him. I caught this documentary by accident and couldn't help but wonder what would posses someone to think they could charm a wild bear? Dave's assessment was accurate and the inevitable outcome for one who tempts fate. If anything can be gleaned from all this, it's that you can't live with Grizzlies for very long regardless of how good you are at being a kind warrior. In his death Timothy did manage to teach people a lesson, but its one that should only be taught before someone wants to go live defenseless with grizzlies. A frying pan is not a weapon against a Bear.

The more he interacted with bears, the more he felt safe around them. The more he felt safe, the riskier the behavior he engaged in and the more likely it was that he would take a step too far. He felt past encounters predicted future encounters but his rationale was completely wrong. The analogy he should have considered was a game of Russian Roulette. Timothy Treadwell remained when food was scarce. Something he never did before. I think he consciously knew of the imminent and immense danger of following through on that decision.
Doubley sad is that he allowed his girlfriend to accompany him, understanding the greatest risk.. Timothy knew bears, their habits and the hibernating season, and how scarcity of food for bear's triggers a violently dangerous social order.
Timothy covered the camera lense and allowed audio to record.
Timothy also allowed his Sociopathic rage towards the overseers of the park to be video captured, and by not following park rules for camping and engagement with bears, he invited his demise.
It was noted that Timothy's girlfriend shared her bear fears and there is public knowledge she entertained leaving Timothy. She better than anyone experienced Timothy's psychosis, and perished because Timothy was numb to human needs, while she wasn't?

There is living things there moving, the smell of food.. If the bear never came across his camp i think a bear never would've harmed this guy. Cause he only went close to one when he felt like he could. So i thinks its natural to him to say what he did here :)

The bears have seasonal aggression related to the amount of food available. The attack that killed Treadwell happened right in the middle of this "angry season" that bears have. Treadwell should have known this, and not been anywhere near the forest at that time of year.

This is terrible, and horrid, if only, if only he had being safer. He literally camped on their trail and path, used no repellent, no weapons or electric fencing, it was just too much. As far as I have known, brown bears are extremely dangerous creatures, just looking at scenes from mothers protecting their cubs strikes fear, it is a huge powerful animal. He literally camped in their path, he stayed in a critical time when they are desperate for food with no form of defence. I read they recovered remains with his head detached with some spinal bone left, to me that was gruesome, but it also tells me the bear was being instinctual, he was trying to eat, and trying to feed for the coming winter. We slaughter cows, chickens, pigs and sheep to feed, it is just terrible when we who are in dominance have to become victims of nature and its food chain. This is a terrible case, but one that inspires the need for safety, common sense, a healthy sense of fear, and God. God loves me, but does he want me to venture out in such a reckless manner, certainly not, I pray to anyone who reads, seeks God and pray for him to keep you safe, and be safe.
