I honestly think it's insane that pregnant women are expected to just work through their whole pregnancy while going through all of this. It's cruel

Can we just give a shout to your BF- Ryan for being supportive of you and how you are handling your pregnancy. Not a lot of guys would be so supportive especially when you are laying around doing nothing and allowing your body to heal and adjust to being pregnant. You and him are going to make great parents.

When you say you felt like you were watching someone else's ultrasounds, I went through that same thing with my pregnancy. I felt disconnected from the whole experience and the anxiety and depression that came with a totally expected and wanted pregnancy was shocking. I had depression before, but pregnancy gave me intense anxiety, every day I felt like something terrible would happen and I don't think I appreciated my pregnancy because I was so worried about something happening. It's something I never expected so thank you for using your platform for people to know pregnancy isn't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a big mental toll as well as physical ❤

the "fourth trimester" is also, i feel, a hugely underestimated shock to the system. people joke about 'no sleep' etc, but it wasn't that for me - it was just the monumental shift in the nature of your life, in basically every way. it can be incredibly overwhelming, especially if you don't have a big support network nearby. i have such a supportive partner, and i can't even imagine how it's physically possible for single parents in those early days. i had an emergency c section and could barely sit up, yet i was somehow expected to breastfeed and care for my baby around the clock - immediately following 4 days of sleepless labour. depending on the fussiness of the baby, the demands can be relentless 24/7 - it's the most physically and mentally challenging thing i've ever experienced. but it GETS BETTER, and is only very temporary. usually after the first 3 months things settle down a whole lot and you'll feel like you have a semblence of a life again! i feel like it's so important for new mothers to be prepared for that ❤

The moment I had a positive pregnancy test, I was barfing non-stop all day and night. Couldn’t even keep water down. It was hell. I lost about 10 lbs. in a week and a half. My pregnancy ended at 8 weeks so it was short lived but good god it was so hard to be conscious let alone work. So glad you’re enjoying your second trimester!

I’m *finally* in my second trimester after having multiple miscarriages during first trimesters. And right after hitting that milestone I had an emergency appendectomy! Stuck in the hospital for 9 days with complications… Holy crap what a mess 😂 I was so excited for the 1st trimester to end but my body threw me for a loop. I don’t have any real life friends that are pregnant/recently pregnant but watching your pregnancy videos makes me feel a little less alone in the journey! Excited to see more 💜

I really appreciate your honesty around the shock of finding out you're pregnant, I think that and negative talk around pregnancy at all needs to be destigmatized / the mommy shaming needs to stop. I'm not pregnant and I don't intend to be for awhile (neither my partner nor I are in a place where we're ready), but I know I want children, but I also know pregnancy will be a shock for me when the time comes. I'm in recovery from an ED and rhe idea of my body changing like that terrifies me, despite that both my partner and I wanting kids was a big motivation for me to start recovery at all. Its ok to talk about stuff like this, and it shouldn't be shamed because it's normal to feel scared, this is a major life change, even the most positive of changes can be terrifying

I had a very similar first trimester. I threw up constantly which had me in the ER for dehydration 3 times. I had no energy, felt depressed and exhausted, and felt like everyone hated me because I was so sick I couldn't do anything for myself. I'm 30 weeks now and I'm so happy to be at this point. Anyone going through it, remain the strong amazing woman you are because it gets so magical. Feeling him adjust all day is my favorite feeling. I get crazy anxious still though because I just want him healthy and fear any complications.

Just had my baby in June and funnily enough, you go through a lot of these same things right after the baby is born. Bringing a life into this world is wild because you go through pregnancy and you're like "wow, this is the single hardest thing I've ever done" and then the baby is born and you're like "nevermind, this is the single hardest thing I've ever done!". You just can't appreciate how difficult it is until you go through it and you gain so much respect for other people who go through it. I think taking pregnancy one week at a time is a great mentality and I suggest getting through the newborn phase the same way.

This is so interesting to me. So much of your descriptions, especially about the extent of your fatigue and your depression/breakdown about wanting your normal life back mirrors my own experience with fibromyalgia/chronic pain and fatigue. It's so difficult to describe to people what fatigue is beyond just being tired, and you really hit it on the head perfectly.

I have two small humans, love them to bits, but to this day I still find myself missing my childless days - and that's okay!! and totally normal, and doesn't mean we don't love our kids. oh and pregnancy is HARD! i hated every second of both. oh and big big BIG yes to motherhood not having to become your entire identity! it can feel all encompassing sometimes but every parent is still their own entityyyyy and deserves that space to express other parts of themselves, always

    Edit: TW miscarriage/infertility
I was pregnant for 7-8 weeks in 2019 and I was in MISERY. Constant, days-long migraines and body pain. Literally the only thing I could manage to consume was Coke (like the soda lol) and my prenatals. I called out of work the entire time and slept on my couch. My sister had to help me shower.
I wish I'd had a full pregnancy and gotten to experience that second trimester boost, but I'm grateful to have had the tiny amount of time that I did. I haven't been able to get pregnant again since.

I'm a huge fan of your horror channel because of how much you emphasize not crossing your own boundaries and forcing yourself to watch things that are too disturbing and no longer enjoyable. Also !! just for fun, in a older video like from 2013 or something, you said you were going to name your future daughter Samara, because the Ring is your favorite horror movie? Got the confirmation yesterday and though it's not a "perfect time", I am happy and excited! I don't normally get period cramps so I knew something was up. Definitely don't forget to research/ prepare for "the fourth trimester" aka post partum. It's so common and so easy to get caught up in pregnancy and labor/ delivery learning that we neglect educating ourselves about what comes after. It's a huge life change in so so so many ways. In a similar vein, if you plan on breast/chest feeding, start researching lactation consultants in your area now. That way if you do experience any difficulty, you can get help right away because time is of the essence when it comes to all things lactation.

Congratulations! I knew right away too. For me my arms were killing me. I threw up the whole 9 months and got food poisoning at 8 months. That was 16 years ago. 😅😅😅

As a man who may or may not want to become pregnant in the future, I'm very appreciative for your use of neutral terms talking about pregnant people! ❤️ Wishing you luck on the pregnancy/birth/aftermath❤️

My sister in law is expecting a girl in late November. For her first trimester nausea, I made her a little care package of lemon and ginger tea, candied/crystallised ginger cubes and ginger or lemon cookies.

I was pregnant in 2020-2021 and our first trimesters were soo similar ! Especially the garlic aversion and lemons for nausea. I had to put crackers next to my bed and had to eat a handful before I even moved when I woke up and then my breakfast was usually just toast and very cold lemon water. Also the exhaustion, oh the exhaustion….. I laid on the couch for a month and just played sims cause everything else was impossible.
Also hate vomiting so I would just lay very still and will it away

I think we need to normalize not loving your baby right from the beginning. Not connecting to my baby from the start is one of my biggest fears for whenever I do decide to have a baby. But I’ve never met them, how am I supposed to be so connected to someone I’ve never met. Obviously I will love them once they’re here because it’ll be MY baby but we need to normalize not feeling that connection right away.

I think every pregnancy is different. I own a cleaning business and back when I was pregnant, (my son just turned 23) I worked from start to past my due date. So it's physical labor. But I was used to it and I think I was sooooo anxious during my pregnancy that I never really felt super tired. The first trimester I was super depressed and freezing cold all the time. It was the beginning of winter. My first symptom was also very sore boobs. In fact, I thought it was a period coming on because that was usually my first symptom of that. So once I found out I was pregnant, I was so surprised. I was the same as you, we weren't yet really trying to have a baby, but it was in the cards for six months later give or take.
In the first trimester I had really bad nausea all the time and vomited as needed. lol. But I think my depression was really bad. I wanted to miscarry. Hard to say that but that's how I felt. Like you, I knew my life would never be the same and that scared me to death. I had depression all the way through my pregnancy but it got so much better well into the second and third trimester. Also the weather improved and that definitely helped. I found out I was really anemic so that is why I was cold all the time. Beside the prenatals, you really got to have an iron supplement, It's so important. But unfortunately, it was add to the horrible constipation. Honestly, during my pregnancy, the worst physical discomfort I had in the entire nine months was the constipation. So good luck. in my first trimester, I hated the way everything smelled. I could smell people's cologne or simply their body smell. Not really bo just their personal smell. my olfactory was so acute. Similar to wildlife when I pregnant animal needs to smell so well that they could be aware of animal predators. Evolution is a remarkable thing.... but I digress. My first trimester I lived on fruit and grilled cheese sandwiches. It was the only thing that didn't make me nauseous.
Anyways, good luck! And I'd love to hear a birth story a couple weeks after the baby is born. Those are always fun.

With both my pregnancies i could not handle garlic and we also use it in nearly every meal regularly. We buy minced garlic in little glass jars and my husband made fun of me because i had to keep the jar wrapped in a ziplock bag in the bottom of the fridge until i was at least 30 weeks through!

Everything that you’re saying is just 👌
I am almost 24 weeks pregnant and I feel the exact same way..ESPECIALLY the garlic!! Except…my nausea did not go away 🫠 needed actual meds for it bc it was an all day every day event 🙃

We went on a preplanned vacation in Florida when I was 7 weeks. We were there for 5 days and I did not poop the entire time. It was awful.
Also, perinatal depression - I was gobsmacked by this. I didn't know it was a thing. But I was so depressed for legit a few months.

It's awesome you'll be keeping baby off the internet. It would be great for you to end your journey with a birth story/experience and postpartem recap maybe?

I don’t think I’ll keep her off the internet completely, I may post photos occasionally on IG and whatnot but yes it will definitely do a birth story and postpartum updates that’s a great idea!
