2-Hour Mega Compilation of FDNY Special Units and Unusual Vehicles in Manhattan

- Huge compilation of special units including rescue, squad, haz-mat, division vehicles, special operations, robotics, and more, along with vehicles we just don't see that often, like the press office, ceremonial units, and numbered cars. Some clips are units responding into emergency scenes or parked after they had arrived. There are also units at special events, and others we caught just driving by. Some are featured more heavily than others since we run into them more frequently. Incidents are in reverse chronological order, but I tried to keep clips within each event in the order they occurred. Everything was shot in Manhattan, mostly in 2022 and 2023.

this reminds me so much of when my mom would go out of her way to drive me past all the volunteer firehouses on long island when I was little.. he will remember these moments for life!
I hope so! If it were up to him, we’d be at every single fire and firehouse in the city… we try to get to everything within reason, haha. Sounds like you have a very cool mom!
i am Chris Legrand the one really knows how fire department FDNY because when I see the fire truck 79 37 27 48 56 7 62 32 when see them all walking around the sidewalk responding and when I see the fire truck FDNY going fast really fast
Fun fact, FDNY is the second largest fire department in the entire world. The largest one is Tokyo Fire and Rescue Service (Japan), it has 18,408 personell in total. By the way, awesome video man, really cool vehicles and I see some of them for the first time. Wish you luck from Kazakhstan.💪
Cool! I knew the FDNY was the biggest in the US but wondered and never got around to looking up how it compares to the other large departments around the world. Tokyo makes sense as the biggest! And thanks for watching!
FDNY would be the main reason why I would visit New York City. So many different specialized response units and vehicles
It is the singular reason my son is happy being here! There are plenty of reasons not to go to nyc, haha, but the range of FDNY equipment is really cool to see.
Great video of FDNY units mostly but also quite a number of NYPD units serving along with the FD. I have been in my local FD since 1964 & although now inactive I still enjoy watching the units and the people who do the work that I once did. Thank you again for a wonderful video.
Thank you! And yeah, the NYPD has a pretty impressive array of specialized vehicles too. Very cool that you were in your local FD for a long time! I’ve got a number of family members that are volunteer firefighters-my grandfather recently reached 70 years of service! I’ve always found it interesting. My son is the reason I started taking videos-he wanted to document everything we found. Then I had fun trying to catch more units, frame them up nicely, etc… and eventually realized I had loads of footage I needed to do something with!
I enjoy your video's especially Jordan's Enthusiasm, he reminds me of myself as a kid!!
aww, thank you, and that's so cool to hear!
I have really enjoyed all of your videos. You've captured equipment I've not seen before. One had me scratching my head and had to look it up, Car 33 - Medical Officer Brooklyn, Queens & Staten Island. Jordan seems like the perfect sidekick. Thank you!
Thank you! It's pretty incredible how much equipment there is. Jordan's definitely on a mission to see as many units as possible!
Was a firefighter riding on top of rescue 1 at the start
yup!
@@TripleJFireDo you know why do they ride on top?
@@flykj I’m guessing just for fun (hope my video doesn’t get anyone in trouble!) because where they were driving is a pedestrian path and Amtrak access road, not a public road, and I’m pretty sure they were heading back from drills.
Bro if I was a new York firefighter I would ride on top of the ladder truck not the heavy rescue or maybe an ambulance instead 0:03
@@flykjBecause they can! 😎
48:49 what an awesome sight. All the ladders up.
It is cool to see! I put it in there for context even though there weren't any special units right in that scene. I'd love to make a "ladders up" compilation when I can get to it!
CZcams recommended me this video & I like how everything was made! Great catches bro! Subbed for more stuff!
thanks so much!!
Great video thanks for filming
Thanks!
great content!Subbed!
Thanks for watching!
This video showed me everything love nyc style of fire units thanks
thanks for watching! We love all the equipment, too (obviously, haha)
nice video, thanks
thank you!
Very big and great video thank you 👍🚒🚒🚒
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
12:27 It seems the city bus driving in the background has its emergency alarm activated? Do you know if this was related to the call?
Great video so far! Liked and subbed
👍
I don't think it was related/activated on purpose since we were at a 10-76 in a big office building. The first time I saw a bus with the emergency signal on, I was really concerned and flagged down the bus driver behind him (at a stop). He was completely unconcerned and said it was probably just pushed by mistake. I've seen them activated a few times since then, and I always look to see if anything could be amiss because I hate to think of them using it for a real emergency and no one calling it in! Thanks so much for watching!
i love the first truck how the guy is just chilling on top of it lol
I wonder what was going on?
I think they were coming back from drills. Haven't seen exactly what they do, but there are Amtrak lines and some weird overhangs where they were coming from.
FDNY is known for being one of the most stubborn towards safety regulations, for example: standing upright in the back of the rescue bus while riding with open doors is standard practice for them. Also not wearing SCBA masks unless absolute necessary is a great way to get ill. They call it being the bravest, appearing heroic. Everything for the image, not for their health.
NYFD trucks should be allowed to shove vehicles out of their way when responding to verified fires with no recourse to drivers that refuse to yield.
Super videos and vehicles
Thanks! All treats to see for us!
Gotta love the FDNY
Irish themed logo on the side of the hmru unit thats amazing!
It is cool! They’re with E44 on the UES, the fighting 44, with a leprechaun in the logo. I don’t know/can’t find the history of it beyond there having been a lot of Irish members throughout the department’s history.
@@TripleJFire the backstory and history of the Irish running that house is glorious
Have you gotten any videos of rare NYPD units by chance like ERV 1 and 2?
We've seen a couple of Bearcats but not the Bear units, just at parades and other ceremonial things. I have to see what kind of footage I have! We've definitely caught the big ESU trucks 1 and 2.
When there is 3 haz mat trucks all together it's always a good idea to get you and your kids as close as possible to them!!!
Things we've gotten close to where haz mat responded: diesel dripping from buses that they drained into a plastic tray, a barbecue-sized propane tank fire that was completely on the other side of the building we were in front of, and removal of an e-scooter battery that was not on fire. Big responses though!
@@TripleJFire Yes!! Your such a responsible parent!

Thank you! 🚨
This is a cool kid!
Thanks! That’s my 7 year old son, who now makes me cut most of his commentary from the videos-which is disappointing because he knows so much about it!
Omg I was at the the same scene it’s on my channel Pringledingle123 keep up the great work
Cool! Also totally getting a kick out of your channel name. My son used to collect Pringles cans and still has quite a collection!

Hmm that’s rescue 1
Mrev 1 you don’t see that every day in New York
Always exciting to see a MERV!
I have a firetruck lmao
Thanks for shooting the video but we could do without the OMG so K they only use that in the outer boroughs not Manhattan Menands a little bit more Elite let's keep it that way
When we started shooting this stuff, it was just for fun, and going through it there were a lot of places where we wish we weren't talking! But Jordan especially wanted every unusual unit included, so some of the clips just are that way.
K ? Manhattan Menands ? A bit more elite? What does this mean?

only see superheroes
I’m so much confuse that department of FDNY I got more equipment and more trucks than the NYPD police department and some of these fire trucks from the FDNY department. I never seen them before I only saw the regular firetrucks that lives in the neighborhood that we live in never seen rare trucks
FDNY needs more special equipment for fighting different types of fires, especially dealing with high rise fires, performing other non-fire rescues, etc... but NYPD definitely has some very cool vehicles like the Bear and Bearcat!
What’re the ones that look like food trucks?😂
I think there are a few, the first one that comes to mind that I know we’ve seen is the SOC rebreather unit-it looks like a bread delivery truck. I guess some equipment just needs to get transported, not necessarily on a beefy rig!
Why use > 20 entities ?🙃
Ha, I know it seems like a lot, but often there are special units with equipment/chemicals, plus they stretch multiple lines, multiple ladders up, need FAST truck, etc... it adds up!

Why does that truck have such a short cab at 7:13 💀
It's a satellite--not sure why the cab is short though!
@@TripleJFire Its not intended to carry personnel to a call, its a supplemental apparatus used w/ a 2000 GPM Pumper to extend the supply of water to a number engines when a hydrant or water source isn't near the fire
Yup we live in dystopia.
All the vehicles are so unnecessarily big, absolutely ridiculous 🙄 Great video though, have subscribed
I think that's what my son loves about them, haha. Thanks for watching! Just checked our your channel, looks cool!
