  • Iconic former Leicester City Manager, Martin O’Neill joins his former players Matt Elliott and Gerry Taggart on this episode of Leicester's The Place.
    The Northern Irishman arrived at Filbert Street in 1995 and despite a difficult start, went on to oversee one of the most successful periods in recent history. O’Neill’s four-and-a-half seasons saw a Play-Off victory, three League Cup Finals, two of which ended with wins, and two qualifications for the UEFA Cup, and four consecutive top-half Premier League finishes.
    He discusses winning over a hostile Filbert Street crowd, signing Matt Elliott despite his scouting mission, those ‘Martin Please Don’t Leave’ signs, plus Wembley glory.

    Ranieri may have had the greatest season but what Martin did on a shoestring with all that boardroom squabbling makes him the best manager we've had in my opinion. Nice to hear from these 3 Leicester legends.

    Fabulous listen, what a great episode of LTP. Lucky enough to have lived through MON's reign. Really humbling how much he loved his time with LCFC and especially that other than the Celtic calling, he would have stayed with us. Legend, never forgotten 🦊⚽️❤️

    What a legend MON was! Just remember, fans wanted him out before the good times came along... maybe some of our fans can remember that in 2023 too...
    This is the sort of content I wish the club produced more of. This and the Maresca / Ballague interview were great.

    3 City legends on the sofas there... Big Gerry & Matty , never a backwards step & with M o 'N at the helm brought us up to heights that we thought we'd never achieve ....👌🏻😃

    A real trip down memory lane from when I first became a Leicester fan, those days were magical under Martin and I'd have them back in an instant.

    Remember the Norwich game, sitting in the double decker; Walker strutting on the touch line for TV like he owned the place

    Also, what Martin fails to mention about the game when we beat Norwich and he became Leicester manager - the Leicester fans were singing "3 points... and your manager!". It wasn't announced that he'd left until after the game.

    What is with Iversen? Start playing him instead of terrible Hermansen.

    • @kevinmcnab5670
      @kevinmcnab5670 Před 9 měsíci

      Hermansen hasn't really made many major mistakes, plus Enzo, like GK's who can play with the ball at his feet, Iversen has terrible distribution.
