I never heard of this pilot before today, but I think "Duffy's Dozen" might have been worth watching if it had sold. As to voice actors, I recognize Casey Kasem, John Stephenson and Janet Waldo for sure, and possibly Julie Bennett and Lennie Weinrib.
This is the Hanna Barbera equivelent to the Loud House and based off what sume people say I could have seen this show working, ok maybe it wouldn't be the best thing HB created, but it wouldn't be the worst either(Fonz and the Happy Days Gang,Casper and the Angels) I could see potential with a show like this. Shame it never came to be
What I consider to be one of the more exceptional Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Having been made in the Dark Age of Animation, had it been expanded on, I believe it would've blown weaker H-B cartoons from that same era like The Robonic Stooges, Yogi's Gang, and Blast-Off Buzzard right out of the water, and outdo those. It would've been more meaningful and it couldn't've had any less going for it than the aforementioned, it had to be more worthy than those. One of the more intriguing things I've seen by the studio. Such a missed opportunity that got less than it deserved. I'm just so captivated by this. I imagine that they'd travel all over the country not just in the summer, but on winter break too, if not just for an extended vacation. Just when I thought I've learned about and discovered everything there is by the studio, I come across another surprise. I know we viewers are lucky that despite what we do get to see is so little and that it got made at all, I still wish there were more. Oh, what more there could'd been of the family's road trip adventures. If the Internet and streaming sites had come about sooner, it might've had a better chance of being picked up by a site.
Hanna-Barbera eventually produced "The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan" with ten kids, widower Charlie Chan, dog Choo Choo and their changeable Chan Van in 1972 for a similar mega-family concept that sold. A large cast would be difficult to have good characterization and having every character do something in each story to avoid being unnecessary spare parts in the show.
I personally love The Loud House, that has the resembles old-classic animation near the early 1960's, compared to early 1960's Hanna-Barbera cartoons prior, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Underdog, Late 1960's Terrytoons, 1965's Warner Bros cartoons re-model and 1960's Walter Lantz re-model.
What could've been if this project was picked up. It seems that William Hanna and Joe Barbera were voiced by Daws Butler (Yogi Bear & Huckleberry Hound).
It's bad enough that this never got turned into an actual program, but what's really f-ed up is that it's not a special feature on best of warner bros 25 cartoon collection hanna Barbera.

Very funny..nio laugh track..teice the brady BUnch. Janet Waldo the mother's voice, and the oldest daughtrr. Too bad this didn't appear. And Casey kasem got a very FUNNY role this time..no cowardly stuff..:) live backgrounds and animaiton!
You REMEMBER this..UNDERDOG???? I actually enjoyed this. It lasted 6 minutes, enough for the late 50s cartoons, though with this family structure, I woulda loved to have sen a full thirty mninute pilkot the idea of multriacial all adopted kids is soimething I like.
+Steve Carras ,,,yes I do .i can't remember if it was part of other new shows.or just a filler show .to take up time but I never saw it again.do you remember ,,wait till your father gets home, now that show was Before its time...
These two guys were a legend! William Hanna & Joseph Barbera did a lot of serious quality control with their animation studio, before the corporate factions changed all of that! there was Taft Broadcasting, who brought Hanna-Barbera in 1967,and stayed as their parent company, while they (Taft) had also acquired other corporate assets like Worldvision Enterprises,a syndication company, which, like their future owners Viacom, was the second best in the syndication business! and when Joe Ruby & Ken Spears formed their Ruby-Spears studio through Filmways (now defunct) in 1978,their studio later became part of Hanna-Barbera's family, when Taft brought them out in 1981! and the end gamer came, when Ted Turner, the very same guy who raided Metro Goldwyn Mayer in 1985,came along and brought Bill & Joe's studio from Great American Broadcasting in 1991,where he eventually created "Cartoon Network",mixing MGM's "TOM & JERRY" cartoons in,with Hanna-Barbera's fantastic inventory,as the cable company began to grow bigger, especially after TNT was formed in 1988. but by 1996,Turner had merged with Time Warner, and by the end of 1999,Warner Bros.Entertainment became the ultimate owner of what used to be Hanna-Barbera,,THE END! these two men changed the cartoon business, and were the kings of limited animation, outlasting many of their major competitors like Filmation Associates,DePatie-Freleng,Rankin-Bass (formerly Videocraft International Ltd) and Marvel Productions,Ltd,,Hanna-Barbera were the REAL kings of this now defunct business, whose works will be shared with another generation of fans,in the decades to follow!
Interestingly,Filmways,in its final years, had acquired American International Pictures in 1979-1980. and around that time,a new company called Orion Pictures Corporation was formed in 1978,by Arthur Krim, who was the former head of United Artists, who at the time, were still owned by Transamerica,,so Krim and several of his executives left UA to form Orion, who were doing all their movies through Warner Bros. from the late 70s onto the early/mid 1980s,when they had purchased the whole Filmways/AIP package, thus making Orion Pictures Corporation the new boy on the block, until 1997,when Metro Goldwyn Mayer had corporately brought them out-the same MGM that also brought United Artists in 1981,following UA's fiscal disaster with the movie,"HEAVEN'S GATE" when Transamerica voted to sell off United Artists to Kirk Kirkorian, who owned MGM in those days,,and the rest is corporation eats corporation, doggy dog business!
Since 1994 for me, I've known that there are 4 Hanna-Barbera groups. Yogi Bear Group, Flintstone Group, Jonny Quest Group, and Scooby-Doo group. And if "Duffy's Dozen" made it to television, it would be in the Flintstone Group.
This is pretty much how they formed the teams on Laff-A-Lympics. I would've loved to see a fourth team consisting of Johnny Quest, Jana of the Jungle, Devlin, etc.
You know that bear with a bowling ball stuck to his paw, might just have been a spinoff character in the making.
Very impressed with the early (relatively speaking) angle on preserving America's ecology.
I never heard of this pilot before today, but I think "Duffy's Dozen" might have been worth watching if it had sold. As to voice actors, I recognize Casey Kasem, John Stephenson and Janet Waldo for sure, and possibly Julie Bennett and Lennie Weinrib.
Inever heard of of it until now..
Sounded to me like Michael Bell was in there too.
Gene Andrusco (Flip Chan in the Chan Clan, Roger in The Barkleys) might be one of the Duffy kids, Corky?
Gene voiced Chester in The Barkleys.
0:25 Same voice sample of Fred Flintstone used in the opening of "The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show"
What a colourful classic!
Duffy's Dozen is a absolute gem!

I take it you’re an Enterbot, The Loud House doesn’t have a trailer or educational stories
I wish this became a Show
*boy do I miss good ol' Hanna-Barbera... they were a class all by themselves...*
Funtastic, Magnificent, Lovable, Spectacular and Colourful!
It was amazing to watch!

Always believe in the goodness of people and never give up on the power of kindness.
Wonderful work experience!
The Duffy Family are truly, simply the best!
Duffy's Dozen is absolutely 💯% Funtastic family!
Wow!! RIP Janet Waldo
Absolute gems, wonders and legends!

The Loud House has a similar set up and has the same problems you brought up
I personally love The Loud House, that has the resembles old-classic animation near the early 1960's, compared to early 1960's Hanna-Barbera cartoons prior, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Underdog, Late 1960's Terrytoons, 1965's Warner Bros cartoons re-model and 1960's Walter Lantz re-model.
That’s what this reminds me of with all of these kids, the Chan Clan
It also echoes The Addams Family cartoon.
This trope of travelling groups is almost as prevalent as the "meddling kids" trope!
The Duffys are a one big happy family! 👪
The Duffy family are the best family!
The 12 children are Alan, Barbie, Gordy, Dottie, Corky, Flori, Tommy, Hildy, Lionel, Jiro & Mito (twins) & Jay and the family dog called Thirteen!
Absolutely amazingly adorable and awesome!
Best of both worlds
Happy Good Friday from Duffy's Dozen
Happy Mother's Day from the Duffy's Dozen kids!
Aren't there like 6 different movies with this premise? And two of them are modern remakes of two of them?
Not bad. Looks like this show would have been a gentle, amusing way to spend half an hour in those days.
If Amphicar had made an RV.
Superb opportunity
THE DUGGERS, the Animated Series...
What could've been if this project was picked up. It seems that William Hanna and Joe Barbera were voiced by Daws Butler (Yogi Bear & Huckleberry Hound).
I hear Janet Waldo and Casey Kasem.
John Stephenson as well.
Confounded!
Duffy's Dozen did not sell back then in the 70s!
I have never heard of "Duffy's Dozen" - It does bear a suspicious similarty to the 1974 movie "MIXED COMPANY" though !
It's bad enough that this never got turned into an actual program, but what's really f-ed up is that it's not a special feature on best of warner bros 25 cartoon collection hanna Barbera.
Wow, where did you find this? Definitely a departure for H-B
What loyalty
Fred Flintstone: Yabba Dabba Doo!
The Brady Bunch who lives in a trailer and no Alice around.
The Partridge Family without the singing.
Hot Wheels 1969 Episode 11 (7000 Subscribers Special)
👍😁👍

Why do I feel this is similar to the next version of "Cheaper by the Dozen" where it's a huge multi-racial family?
I was thinking the same! Hahaha
The Duffy Family:
Ted and Karen Duffy
Allen Duffy
Barbie Duffy
Gordy Duffy
Dottie Duffy

Casey's role was interesting to say the least. I can't wrap my head around him voicing a young teenager with blonde hair.
Plus John Stephenson voices the father in the pilot.

As Seen on The Bozo Show
I remember this show .it was terrible .couldn't believe how bad it was...

Ok, I remember..IU think you mean that Wait till your Father gets home was ahead of its time!
We _missed_ you, muttley16! Welcome back!! ☺😊😁😃😄
Mr & Mrs Duffy look like Dennis the Menace parents Henry & Alice
These two guys were a legend! And Filmways product is largely now owned by MGM!
LOL..Sheep dog eat sheep dog busines (to appropriate a quote that one of Duffy's stepkids would use about their sheepdog..)
Interesting! I never knew this cartoon existed.
No laff track? How unlike 1970's Hanna-Barbera.
I would have watched this show every week as a kid, if it was picked up. CBS should have run it.
Let's not forget what I like to call the Pint-Sized Group. Smurfs, Snorks, Shirt Tales, Monchichis, Biskitts, Paw Paw Bears. I grew up in the 80s.
This is pretty much how they formed the teams on Laff-A-Lympics.
I would've loved to see a fourth team consisting of Johnny Quest, Jana of the Jungle, Devlin, etc.
Didn't this concept actually come true in a reality show decades later?
Bears do like to play with bowling balls, at least in the zoo.
Too bad this never got made into a series.
