As a life long Bruins fan. I don't think Danny was like that all. Dick Irvin was always bad, but his father was the coach of the Habs, so that's a little understandable. Danny Galliven announced a Bruins goal the same way he did for the Habs. Unless you had some sort machine that measures his voice you can't tell the difference.
Although this series is legend, most of what is recalled is the last minutes and overtime of game 7. In order to appreciate why that is so, requires one to go back and watch these earlier games. Such hockey. Such history. So appreciated. Thank You.
bruins canadiens games of this period have an ali/frazier feel to them. you knew the canadiens were more talented but there was something about the relentlessness of the bruins.
Well, Chicago "deserved to win" the '71 finals against Montreal. I think that Tony Esposito should share some of the blame.... for letting that easy long shot in by Lemaire. Of course, Bill Reay having K. Magnuson out on defense early in the third period [5/18/71] of the 7th game, instead of Stapleton and/or White... contributed heavily to Henri Richard skating easily around Magnuson for the winning goal.
I couldn't help but notice that a lot of players were inexplicably falling down while not under strong pressure. I conclude that the Garden's ice must have been rather soft in this game, which did take place in early May.
I have written a book titled Too Many Men: The 1978-79 Boston Bruins and the Most Famous Penalty in Hockey History. The publisher is McFarland. It is scheduled to be released in August 2018. If you like this clip, you'll like my book!
The Canadians of 75-79 were the best team I ever saw & that includes the 69-72 Bruins. If the Bruins from 76-79 had a health Bobby Orr things may have been quite difference. But they didn't. Still the games between these 2 for 3 years were the best games ever. And who would take Gretzky over LaFluer? Gretzky never had a shot like Lafluer, just see the 2nd Montreal goal he scored. Wayne NEVER had that kind of shot or speed. I mean really. You'd have to be really stupid. Wally Harris was a Quality Ref as well.
I'm a Bruins fan & imo the best team EVER was the 77-78 Canadiens. Oiler & Islander fans won't agree, but too bad. Montreal would've beaten either of those teams because they had the big 3 in Robertson, Savard & Lapointe.
i agree but ill take the 76-77 team. the Islanders and Oilers never had the defense Montreal had , the top two lines on all 3 of those teams were fairly even. the third line Montreal and the Islanders had were better than the Oilers Third line . the Fourth line ( Gainey Jarvis Napier before Napier Wilson ) Montreal had was just as good as most teams first or second line .
@@nitemare507 These Bruin teams would have crushed them as well. Gretzky would be so frightened to get on the ice if O'Reilly, Johnathan, or Wensink were on it.

When you listen to Danny Gallivan, he raised his voice for all the goals, not just for the Habs. That's a sign of a true announcer.
Yea, IMO- Gallivan was the best announcer EVER & a close 2nd was Dan Kelly. I never liked Foster Hewitt at all.
As a lifelong Bruins' fan I think I can safely say Danny Gallivan got more excited when Montreal scored compared to when their opponents scored.

Danny could make a dull boring game sound exciting
We agree to disagree. That's okay. (Gallivan admitted in interviews late in his life he was a bit of a homer.)
I love games between these two teams. Being a Canadiens fan always love the way that the series ended

I'm lucky enough to live around the corner from the Garden And did have season tickets for YEARS especially THESE years. HEAVEN with SKATES.

B's deserved to win this series in 1979
The Bruins came closer to beating Montreal under Don Cherry... than they did under Harry Sinden ---- Orr, or no Orr.

Amen to that !" Immensely scintillating hockey." How boring hockey has become. Glad I grew up in the 1970's
The opening moments of the game was incredible,
These two teams = a heavyweight fight since 1924
way more action than the soccer on ice they play now
59:17. How many did Lafleur score from there in his career? What a blast.
he scored a few like that. in Danny Gallivan's words that was a cannonading drive
Though not a one-timer on a drop pass from Lemaire, it is similar to the tying goal in game 7.
He was a sniper more so than anyone I’m sorry with apologies to bossy and messier

When are you going to upload some more games in the future?
If it wasn't for that penalty does Coaches Corner ever exist?

@@russelljdj I dunno. I love the Bruins, but I don't think those guys would've scared the Oilers! They were a tough team!
