When Hobi cried, Jungkook cried. When Jin started talking Tae and Jimin started to breakdown as well. Jin and Jhope are usually the last ones to cry. Seeing them like this broke my heart. Even the idols in the audience cried cos they are able to relate to what the boys are saying. Mad Respect for BTS. Bangtan Forever! Than you guys for reacting to this. I love your channel. You guys are def my favorite reactors.
This made me think back on the poems they wrote for Run BTS season 2 final episode.
Knowing the struggles that they were going thru in 2018, Jin’s poem makes total sense now 😭 he ended his poem on a funny note but he really was hoping that the group will pull through what they were all experiencing and for BTS not to end just yet. He tried to hide the heartbreak with laughter at the end but its was all plain to see in the member’s faces. It was even him who thanked the members in this speech that they all pulled through in the end 😭😭😭

I don't ever cry and I remember how I cried like a baby 😢. My husband watched to see what had me so upset and that was the first time he watched BTS with me 😆💜 he now has his favorites too😉🥰💜Truth is contagious.

They're so real. They're real to the point where I start to wonder, how much BTS must trust Army & e/o to even consider sharing their deepest, darkest, innermost feelings. When V's grandma passed away, he chose to speak about it in front of the fans, because he knew that we won't leave him alone, & that he can express himself in that way too. When their mental health suffers, they always turn to Army, & try to get at least a little bit of comfort & confidence in us. We are their family. We see them at their best, & at their worst. Nothing can ever replace that.

Dang, this acceptance speech really just gives me flashbacks to BTS and ARMY during 2018. This was the boys 3rd time winning MAMA Artist of the year (the first time for any artist), but even then, there was this tension of whether they would win or not. The boys would share here and there about them struggling throughout the year, and ARMYs were really getting outcast for celebrating the boys successes throughout the year because "BTS is mainstream". Back then, even with how confident ARMY was in believing in BTS, there was still so much push back from the industry and we never knew what success would be overlooked it downgraded. Everything just sort of exploded that day. It felt like BTS' and ARMY's efforts were really really blossoming.
I'm glad that now moments like this can be seen as a moment of perseverance and determination.

2018 really was a struggle.
After all those years of struggle, they knew that they had to wait, as success is something which comes after many failures, they knew they needed to be patient, and that the better could come

I am 2019 army, ive seen this many time and it hurts my heart so much, cried so many time. I've said to myself, If they disbanded, I could not have found them.

I just wanna say Jin is the most selfless man out there. I can’t put it into words but I’ve observed his actions and realized how much he silently sacrifices things, pushes aside his pride... all for the sake of everyone’s happiness.

I cried so hard, especially when Tae lost it. I don't think he knew Jin would bring up the fact that they thought about splitting up, I think it really caught him off gaurd😥
That's what made me cry, when the disbandment was brought up, they really been through it and at the end of the day they did it for us and everything they've worked hard for.
I think nobody expected Jin to tell that. He just had to say because he wanted people to know that they had so though time that year and got so much strenght to stay together and make so good songs and get all of these awards. He wanted to thank members for love and faith in each others. I am so appreciate they are still together and give us so happiness and joy every day. Thank you guys, I love you so much

Yes, I must agree how hard this was to see again, felt just like the 1st time I saw it, I cry every time, and as was said below, Jin’s transparency of what they we going thru really and about their mental health, you can see how humble and loving and just real people not mega celebs, Even recently Tae “ V “ shared that he was going thru difficulty with his mental health, it was during 2020 Festa all this was going on, they always do special things or write special messages to each other to share with ARMY’s, when you read the scrolls, everyone’s message to Tae was showing concern for him, they knew he was going thru somethings which he didn’t want to share apparently, but it was just so beautiful how each one told him they were there for him, told him to call & do lunch, just can see the love for each other, I think ARMY’s are lucky to have these guys, I know I am, they love what they do, but also want to use what they love to help ARMY’s who may be having difficulty in their lives, Blue & Grey came out because Tae wanted to share that he went thru depression so maybe we he could help those going thru it as well, I hope that he releases his original version which was suppose to be on his mix tape, it was done all in English and what he shared a little of it on in the soup, his voice is just so beautiful and comforting, so having an English & Korean version would really be great

This was a privilege to see the transparency, humility, openness, and love that they shared on stage. To be honest, I feel blessed and I am so grateful to be living in a time when BTS exists, so that we can all experience their wave of positivity and love. It makes me feel close to the community, that is Army!

I started to listen to them a couple of weeks ago and watched this video last night for the first time.
It broke me.
It was in 2018 and now, in 2023, I cried.
Seeing J-Hope losing his bright smile broke me... And Jin's revelation left me devastated.
I know that they are on a hiatus now, I understand why, but just the thought of them disbanding is heart breaking.

as a 2014 army, this was really hard for me to watch, even until now.. being with them through their ups and downs at that year even if it's just virtual, it also made me remember such good and bad memories throughout the years.. the speech itself is just... ha.. it always makes me tear up.. the transparency between bts and armys is just unbelievable. between the lights, there will always be shadows. once you fight and face that shadow, you`ll continue to grow more. TT TT i`m rlly rlly glad they continued to walk with us and just be happy.. one thing is for sure, i will walk with them forever

I remember this like it was yesterday. Jin literally broke us that day. JK was still supporting Tae during the backstage interview after the show. ARMY was an emotional mess for the next week. It's been over 2 years and I still cry every time I see this speech.
Seeing Hobi and Jin crying is really tought, they are the mental and emocional pillars of the group and never show us any pain. But they do feel sadness, it was just so emotional and brave of them to show us what was going on
I wanted to take a moment and say that I loved how around 2:25 + Namjoon was encouraging one of them to accept the award instead of him and then moving Jungkook to the inside... and holding back a lot of his own tears, comforts Jungkook and Jimin, then continuing to comfort every one of them

At the same time, it's beautiful to see this, to be let into their world like that. I am so grateful they came out of that year so strong.

This is when I identified as ARMY - when Hobi's smile went away, when Jin's tears appeared when they talked about disbanding, when Tae crumpled and imploded in the back. I wanted them to be happy and promised to do all that I can. BTS x ARMY = Bulletproof
I remember yoongi said "we dream to be on top but the higher we get the colder we feel as we are in the top the big shadow in our back" - after all the success they had they taught that what happiness is,. that's why they had a struggle both in a group and to themselves and thankfully after the break to find there self they back together not only as a group but as an inspiration to others

being an army since 2014, this moment was the hardest for me because we almost lost them during 2018 without even knowing that they were enduring a lot of things especially the pressure that they have to bear as well. but i'm glad that they were able to talk with each other and decided to continue. now they're almost in their 8th year together.

Jk has always said that nothing is hard for him..except seeing other members have a hard time. When Tae saw the look on Jk's face while watching Jin describe the time when BTS didn't know if they would re-sign for another 7-year contract. Seeing the pain in Jk's face as he remembered. It was too much for Tae, who wears his heart on his sleeve. He broke down, and Jk pulling Tae in to comfort him broke me. I bawled like a baby.
I just on’t understand how this would work going forward. The rest of the guys will have to enlist themselves in the coming years… they can’t exactly take a hiatus every single time. Don’t know how this can even work…. They had to take a 2yr break bc of CoVid. Then Jin left, and will be gone for almost 2yrs. Yeah they’ll be working on solo projects, but I wonder if the group will remain n tact. Plus I worry about their momentum slowing way down during this time…
Very curious to see what they’ll do during Jin’s enlistment, what happens when it’s time for the others to do it, how things will be after hiatus, etc.

@@_birdie rest assured they are all doing fine, MashaAllah. Their momentum are not slowing down , in fact as active as before enlistment. V is now kung fuing with Jackie Chan; heard that there will be a song by Jhope and JK end of March. These boys work all the time. They prepared many things for army while in service. They are smart!

When I watched this speech back in 2018, that's when it hit me that someday BTS is really gonna disband. The fear suddenly hits with my reality that these men who saved me will eventually say goodbye. It was an eye opener for me, making me realized that these idols are humans too and they deserve a break, they deserve to heal. As much as I want BTS to stay forever, I will have to say goodbye one day. Now all I have to do is enjoy this ride with them, and make it as the most beautiful moment of my life until it last.
Till this day, these speech still hurt me. Especially knowing that other idols that night cried too for they know what it feels like.
Im trying to comfort you so hear me out 🥺☺️ There are bands who are together for ever. BTS maybe is a boyband , but they are different. They are artists. You think Suga will ever stop? Jk ? Maybe we won’t have RunBTS or worldtours or Vlives forever. But I don’t think BTS will never not exist 🙂 It will be natural for them to slow down but it will also feel like it 😊 They would never just give it up. We’ll see what the military will bring. But this won’t be the cause for them to stop.
But you know what - you’ll be okay 💜 cause when the time comes they’ll probably prepared us unknowingly with songs about the next step or saying goodbye that we’ll be okay 🥰 They would never let us fall without giving us wings to fly.

I'm so glad to see you guys watch this! It makes me tear up every time but it's such a beautiful display of who they are and what they've gone through. The transparency in Jin's words is heartbreaking but it's so wonderful to see someone in their position openly talk about the mental strain they experience.
This is why so many people support and love them.
I'm glad it's Jin who stepped up & voice it out. 2018 was such a tender moment for them. Ppl who thought it's not that hard for them to keep going, got a cold slap when they heard Jin's literal confession (that it's actually their hardest decision ever)
Just like u said, it's indeed heartbreaking, but it's a good reminder for us to value them as strong human being who aren't just being grateful for having each other, but also dare enough to face that darkness so openly; invited us to learn more how to be like them
Note: I love the open Jin. He made another wonderful & brave statement (and being approved by our leader, RM) in the next (year) MAMA. What a time of Jin to be so blunt & open like that abt issues he barely touch b4

I can’t count how many times I have watched this video and it still makes me cry, every time.
This is one of the most heartbroking moments for the guys and us Army. I cry every time I see this. You feel all the pain, fear, anguish they have felt. Seeing them so vulnerable on stage breaks my heart. When Tae bursts into tears after Jin's words I usually have to stop the video because I can't stop sobbing. I'm so happy with where they are now

Yes. I really cried watching this video over and over again. I am not ashamed that I'm already 45 years old and happily married and got hooked with BTS like I was back in my teenage years. I am not a Korean either and from a different country and culture but wow, BTS message to love yourself is so powerful. Not to mention their teamwork and friendship. Different personalities but all 7 of them, complimented each other. It is really rare nowadays for a beautiful friendship like that.
Them disbanding is one of my biggest fears...I just....I just can't think of a world where they don't exist....it pains so bad deep in my heart to know that one day...one day I'm sry I can't continue....

If you guys notice that Namjoon tries as much as possible not to cry until they gain strength from him, then at the end of this, the leader's job is to be steadfast and strong.
When you see a happy person like Jhope cry, all you need to do is cry too.
"To the ARMY that have ALWAYS shown US love I wanted to say thank you" They know that not all Armys love them all. Although they have said repeatedly (Tae in particular) to "please love them equally" they know what goes on in the fandom. They read it, they feel it and see it. It hurts them. As a fairly new Army, this is a shocking reality for me. But, I will do my contribution to Love each and every one of them. I signed up as OT7 and that's what I'm here for.
There are ARMYS that don’t love them? That makes me mad. How are they ARMIES if they don’t love them? They need to be called something else. I can think of a few words to call them 😂
This breaks my heart every time I watch this. The boys go through so much, but still do their best to show us their happy sides so we wouldn't worry too much. I wish I could give back even just 1 % of the happiness and comfort they've given me. I'm so gratefull to them, because they never give up and they keep fighting. Like V said, BTS will always be the best gift I ever received.

I know the feeling. I have literally no one in my life who gets this and I take a lot of crap for it. This really tore at my heart but I am so proud now to be baby/toddler ARMY.

As a 48 year old and as a Baby ARMY, I sometimes forget how young they really are equal to their success. I cry everytime I watch this because achieving so much success when you were told you weren't going to be make it is a lot ot take in.
No one (whether an army or not) can watch this speech and not get emotional! Their words literally made us feel their struggle!
Also, so glad the award show did not rush them with the speech and let them take their time! 💜

No matter how many times I watch this, I always shed tears of joy and tears of sadness at the same time. Sad that they had to go through so much, happy that they were strong enough to withstand it all and be who they are today

I’ve seen different translations of this where tae says “if I was born again, army would still be the best gift in my life” and suga’s “thank you to our families that raised us 7 brothers”. I only mention because I notice how the slight difference in captions does seem to change what they are saying a bit, curious which is correct

If you watch the Festa they filmed earlier that year - just 2-3 months after they'd talked about disbanding - you can find a lot of coded references to what they've been through. And you'll *also* hear Suga say that he sent two long texts to Tae and JK. Apparently he never sends long text, period - and he ended these two texts with "I love you" - something else he never says. So when Suga got up there and just said a few brief words about how this was the happiest he'd been, that says worlds. He was in a terrible place emotionally when he wrote "Tear"; but when the guys decided to stay together, and when he was able to help JK and Tae, it lifted him up so much. I think that's part of why he seemed less affected than the others. He'd already been through hell and had stepped way out of his comfort zone to comfort the maknaes. When they decided to stay together, he must have felt a huge sense of relief and catharsis. No wonder he was happy the rest of the year.
yes, this translation is not really accurate. even at hobi's part at 4.18 he said "because we went through so much"

This was so hard to watch, but it made me love them even more 💜. Their true heartfelt speech broke my heart. They had it rough. Nothing was easy for them, but they surpassed all those bad times. Although kpop was somewhat known to the Western American, European and so on, BTS were the ones who paved the way & opened those doors to the world for other kpop idols. Our men were ridiculed, bashed, cut off shows, mocked, hated , but they worked harder & look at them now. I love BTS. I am a proud ARMY 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Now this is why I became a fan of BTS... I clearly felt the sincerity between the chemistry of BTS and ARMY. For me this is a phenomenon, ARMY is not just a screaming fans who adores them because their all good-looking etc and BTS is not just any Artists who would just do they job to earn more fortune and popularity, and just have a little interaction with the fans during live shows or concerts. I saw how BTS give all their attention to ARMY, to feel that little attention or interaction with your favorite artists or Idols are a big thing for a fan, even just receiving a sweet smile or a simple hello is already over-whelming, thinking that you were able to get their attention. I know cause I've been a fan to several Artists and been to lots of concerts. (So I know the feeling of being seen by these Artists)
And to ARMY, I admire the love, support and faith that this fandom is giving to BTS. Between the ARMY and BTS, this is a two-way relationship, and a very true one indeed. ARMY is not just Fans or Fandom to BTS but a World-wide Bestfriends, Families or Partners to BTS that will continue to leap with their future goals and succeed alongside with their respected Idols. ARMY and BTS continue to be an inspiration to each other. A lot of things I wanna pour out but I think my message is clear and was confided enough. honestly, the heartbreak from this is reflected after knowing Outro: Tear is made for the members in the same year, and yoongi admitting them crying over the lyrics together. Their bond is really remarkable, i will never stop being glad that they all have each other

This is one of the hardest things to watch for me. As soon as Hobi tears up I started sobbing like a baby. Their genuineness and love for ARMY, each other and their craft really shone through here. They have such big hearts and have worked so hard to get to where they are that it just pains me so much to hear about all the pain and struggle they went through. I had seen this many times but every time I see it my tears just T_T. the fact that they faced so many issues that haters threw to them to that past years and ended them to think about disbanding. T_T . I suddenly think of their song LET GO coz there was a speculation that they made that song when they decided to disband. aaahhhh~~~ my heart cant even think about them disbanding. T_T but gladly they still continue doing music and make every ARMY happy with just seeing them HAPPY! ♥
"LET GO" wasnt written by BTS and usually if its something personal about the members or BTS as a whole they will write lyrics themselves. It has been said by others that the song wasnt about the disbandment issue. Great song though.
I still remember that day watching this live. They won another daesang before this award and namjoon spoke a lot and really well like they weren't sure oif they'll win the artist of the year too but When they won artist of the year hobi started crying I was taken aback lo also tae's crying made me even more emotional. But the moment I can never forget was when Jin spoke about disbandment. The subtitles were late in the live translation and I and armys who were watching it just couldn't believe what we were seeing. 2018 indeed was a tough year for bts and army but also the year when they reached new heights of success, it must have been scary to see from the top but I'm so glad the members have each other and trust each other and army
This is not my first time watching this awards show. And every time I watch it, I will also get teary. This was THE award show speech that always gets me. Most memorable one. For sure.
I’m a 66-year-old mom living in Virginia and I consider myself a member of army. What I love about these young men is how much they care and love each other. I have two grown sons myself and they are each other‘s best friends, so the friendship BTS has within the group really touches my heart and I can totally identify with it. I love their music, their dancing and most of all their message of love and hope. They are exactly what the world needs right now and I hope they continue to make beautiful music together for many years to come. Every now and then artists come along that are super special and touch our hearts, that is BTS💜

I think I've watched this more than twice, and each time feels like the first. The fact that they let us into their world, their struggles and mental struggles especially, makes me respect them even more. NO GLITZ, NO GLAMOUR, just raw authentic emotions. Artists hardly ever admit such things to fans. I love that that their speeches are about them and ARMY, that's why there isn't any other family like ARMY. When you listen to this award appreciation speech, you really see how authentic they are, most artists diss other artists when they accept their award. I know a lot of people look at this as a heartbreaking and devastating moment and I for sure cried my eyes out for them when I watched it happen but honestly, I find it such a beautiful and solidify moment for BTS. Like this was them saying they had gone through something so so hard and almost broke apart but they came back stronger than ever? As more of a team and with their priorities in line and their happiness and love for music and their bond strengthened. That’s so amazing and they’ve only gone to bigger and better heights since. I find it way more inspiring than heartbreaking.
It’s moments like this that makes the reason why I’m a huge fan of the group more true to this day - their humbleness. 🙏 They had my respect even when I randomly got started to be a fan with only watching the Black Swan music video about a year ago. Now I’m proud to be Army. 👍👍

I saw it like 10 times and I'm still crying each time Hobi cried and each time Jin mention disbanding. I just want to hug every single souls that were united by BTS. I love every single one of you!

this was a rough time.. after the wings era bts thought that series would be their biggest hit and they weren't sure they could beat that (as mentioned in an interview or show that i can't remember right now and it was kinda implied in the wings tour final speeches) plus after all the success the pressure mounted on them to keep on performing well and they, especially in 2017 and 2018 got major media attention on them and the world's eyes on them. so you can imagine the relief they got when they succeeded so much and got even more love and managed to achieve this award in 2018. nowadays it's a given for bts to receive daesangs but the "the award surely goes to bangtan" series started after 2018, really. seeing it through this speech how much pressure they were under and what their thoughts were breaks my heart but also shows how much they care. and their music never once suffered or dropped in quality. they will go down as legends.

Thank you for posting this with English subtitles during BTS 2018 gratitude speech. Other videos of it did not. BTS are so humble and yet so outstandingly multi-talented. They went through criticisms and hate from jealous others who tried to put them down. I'm so glad Army helped them get the awards they deserve because they are, after all, stands above all other K-pop groups boy or girl groups in their performances, down to each detail of hand gestures, poses, etc. where their dance moves expresses the lyrics of their songs.
It just makes me so emotional, because when I look at videos of earlier that year before they won the award you could have never guessed that they were literally suffering inside, they always look so happy. And that makes me think how many people around me are suffering and I just can't tell. My family can't even tell with me. I wonder if they go through the same stuff and that's why nobody notices your pain because everyone is going through pain. Everyone just are living a lie and putting on a poker face. im just a 1yr old ARMY but ever since i knew them i didn't skip a day to watch a clip about them, during lockdown i spent atleast 8-12 hours watching their videos from Rookie Kings, American Hustle Life, Run BTS, Bon Voyage, MVs, Award shows performances and speeches, dance practices, theories & explanation of their MVs, News about them, documentaries, BT21 clips etc.. their part of my life now, i feel like i can already feel what they're feeling.. when they laugh i laugh, when they cry i cry, hurt my heart hurts too.. My whole family loves them and their music even they dont understand specially my nephews.. I can say that God let me discover them during the worst&challenging year of my life coz He knows they can help me.. soo thankful they didn't give up that year coz they're the reason im smiling now 💜 no matter what happen LIFE GOES ON
