I agree even in 2023 now an older i7-4770 OR I7 4790 are more than usable. for almost everything with a newer gen vid card except for some of the newer more demanding things that require newer gen of cpu's to work properly.. And yes, I even loaded win 11 pro on my older HP Pro SFF series running an I7-4790 and low profile NVIDIA GT 1030 vid card. 32 GB DDR 3 RAM, 2x 480 GB Kingston SSD's and 4 TB HD. It's still kicking.
I think kids now days just ungrateful and want the best showing off rights which is really fecking expensive :O.
My first computer was a vic 20 and my first console was a atari 2060 many many years before that, I remember getting a dragon 32 from car boot for 30 quid and was well chuffed, problem was they didnt have many games so used to get magazines on ow to write programs myself in basic :P
Was a lot of fun back in dem days, Ild buy 8x8 mm graph paper and design my own pixel pictures then put into code, at the time it was amazing but this was cutting edge on my 128 k spectrum (possibily the best computor of its generation until the amiga 600 I got and paid stupid money for 2x1 mb ram modules (I was about £60 each and that was cheap lol))
I remember when ram for a pc 133 mhz was a £1 a meg, everyone went crazy £64 for 64 mb, I did lol :O
I used to have a 4 meg scusi in my p3 500, it was fecking amazing, spinning rust was the bottle neck on ide 133

Ive always built my own pcs since pentium 1 days when gfx cards werent a thing but had seperate video cards, my first video card was a 2mb matrix, I still remember how amazing it was playing Total war Shogun 1 with my voodoo 3 16 mb, that gfx card was a game changer!!!

Ive been using a hd 5870 1 gb with twin frozzer fans I got second hand for 11 years, its a proper beast for old games but is power hungry but its gonna be hard to part with her after such a long relationship :(
18 moths ago I upgraded pretty cheap, I used to have a fx 6050 got a 4790k, Asus Z97-k and 4x4gb matched corsair vengence memory, its run proper sound on games I play but been considering cheating on her for a gtx 1070 or rx 580 but she found out and shes not happy :(.
Trouble is shes bottlenecking my cpu alot, Im using an old afrio twin 120mm cpu cooler (old shcool :P) so I should be able to oc this beast to around 4.7 ghz from what I read so Im thinking of getting a rx580 if I can get cheap enough :)

I recently learned from a repairman that my i7-4790 processor does not support Windows 10 and 11, but I do not see that others have this problem, please reply if anyone knows this problem and how you solved it

it's handled fine for my i7 4790, if you don't try, you will always feel afraid

I think you should try windows 11, the update have good improvement for the games.
But if you still play the old game better you use windows 10
fk windows 11, Ild still be using win 7 pro if they still did updates, win 10 weren't as bad as I thought though, I kept getting hacked on win 7 after they stopped support but that could have been due to ccleaner getting hacked which was my go to cleaner for like 15 years
