It's because Riot is focused on creating random new champions (with none unique abilities or kits). What they do with items, they just look statistics of items and do random buffs. I really think they legit don't test or balance everything they do, they just watch table of stats (winrate) and do random shit.
Bruiser items become a problem bcs they give damage and resistances. A champ that already has a lot of damage like the Yone can buy bruiser items, become Tanky and *still* do a bunch of damage. What's the payoff of choosing to invest in resistances instead of damage? Almost non existant since you'll do damage anyways. We can see that problem happening again when Tank Katarina and Tank Akali were a thing, also when every assassin in the game was building gore drinker.

Its like you're right, but you WERE right before this patch. Duskblade is unbuildable now after nerfs. And not every assassin is able to build Ghostblade. Shojin + Goredrinker right now is far more broken.Especially with overbuffed steraks.

@@fratsyke it's not that bruiser items are op, it's just because DAMAGE is overtuned in the game. you want to kill everyone fast. power creep. no one really cares about the tankiness on items (it's also not really tanky) they just build for the broken ass passives and numbers that these stat sticks offer. bruisers still mostly suck at impacting the game (look at top pick rate high elo) cause they lack mobility (except for the ones that don't, which btw have been problems for years, like fiora), and even then, they can't really 1v9 often, not as much as other roles. at this point, just delete the game. it's a mess lol.
