I am sorry to say that you confused between Hirani and Irani. The director of the film is Rajkumar Hirani who also directed the film PK. But the teacher in the film is Actor Boman Irani. So both are not same.

im not sure in other continents but in Asia, the engineering schools (or engineering department in a university) are notorious for their initiation of freshmen students. maybe not as bold or awkward as this movie portrayed but is definitely as memorable.

I think most of us can relate to the situation. I was at the 30 something rank in the school, still got into the smartest class yet not even bother about the score. I was enjoying my high school life, love learning with more about understanding than copying. At the end of my high school, found out that i am the highest IQ in the class. 🤣 the rank 1 not even want to mention their IQ. I guess IQ is not about who get the highest score in the school but who learn to understand. This is what i try hard to share with everyone around me. I still can tell what i learn since i understand, not memorized. Thats why math and Physics always be my fav. All you need is understand.
