They never realize what damage it can do to children. It's sad that they don't follow spiritual ways of raising kids, but just materialistic and modern and trying to copy relatives, neighbors, friends, etc. on how to raise children. If evolution forced humans to do things a certain way, then we'd have become robots with 0 freedom by now. Sadly today's world is shortsighted about life. They see life as 1 lifetime and use YOLO to justify their concerns. Only thing children need to do is serve God. That's all to be honest. Serving humanity is robotic and yield no longterm returns but extinction of the human species. Serving God yields extraordinary spiritual returns.

First off, I'll say that this has been one of my favorite movies in my life. I saw it in the short time that I spent at a school for adults with learning challenges.
Something we have to take a step back on is in telling anyone that they are special and unique because of a physical, mental, or emotional challenge. Obviously, all would agree that they are just as special as anyone else, and they would be just as special without the challenge. I think in an effort to be sensitive we end up making the mistake of being patronizing. If we're honest, using the word "special" really only makes us feel better. Sure, there is no clearly defined normal, but there certainly does seem to be a certain threshold of functionality, of which many of those below it are quite aware of their differences.
I'm not feeling like the wisest person here tonight, so I'll stop trying to be. I think you kind of already hit on some the following points. What is special is the relationships that are had. Everyone has their own set of challenges, whether internal or external, and we all have special opportunities to learn things that we might not learn as well any other way. Both the child with the needs, and the guardians of that child have a unique opportunity to learn things about themselves, and from each other that they might not learn otherwise. And the opportunity is not unique because no one else is having it--millions of people are all having similar experiences, and it's necessary to be able to relate with each other--but our experiences are unique and special, because of the people having them and who they get to share with in the experiences. We really can't foresee the blessings that are certain to come from enduring through hardships...together.
Above all, I know that we are here to learn about the power of love and just how far it reaches. And I truly believe that God is love, and he is the power of love inside of us. I do believe in an actual being, but I also believe that his love is within each and every one of us, as well as all around us (like radio waves to be tuned into). The best description of pure love, to me, is found in the book of 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, in the bible. The very first thing it mentions about "love", or "charity", is that it "[suffers] long, and is kind" (v. 4). It is patient and enduring. It is the only thing that will endure and live forever, and those humble, fearless souls that are filled with it. Love only flows one way, but it always moves in a circular motion and brings us together into a stronger unity, allowing that we exercise patience, because love can never be forced, nor would it be rewarding if it wasn't given freely and faithfully.

It's kinda like a living portrait of myself. I can actually relate to this movie because when I was 7-8 years old, my parents send me to a boarding school and I suffered a lot more than Ishaan himself. Dear parents, if you're watching this video please give your children a proper education (Doesn't have to be academic). Just let them follow their own passion, some day your child will make you proud!

There's almost no awareness about mental health issues or of mental illnesses in India. Especially in the previous generations and it is sad. There's so many kids going to school regularly who are facing such issues and they face so much trouble in the schools as they aren't given the proper care they deserve. Before this movie, it was so much worse. This movie when it came out like almost a decade and half ago, was an eyeopener.
