Ty Matt for that great video. The Q-400 is a great commuter plane. Notice the great acceleration on take-off? It leaves the jets in the dust.
I did part of the xperimental on the engines during my tenure @ PWC. (A quick note. It could probably lift off twice the advertised visual aircraft weight.) Thats how strong the engines were. Trust me. I built them.

Our local airport sometimes has a dash 8 200 series, the runway is 3500x75 feet, no problem!

Anybody know why the Dash 8 taxies with the spoiler up?
It's actually quite interesting to note that the Q400s are often seen waiting for takeoff with their spoilers extended, which is a common practice in aviation. During takeoff, the spoilers retract as soon as takeoff power is set, and during landing, they extend again once the power lever angle is low enough. It's amazing how these small details can make a big difference in the safety and efficiency of flight operations!

I've flown in the Dash-8 a couple of times here in the states. They aren't my favorite bird to fly in.. Noisy and very uncomfortable from a passengers standpoint.. LOL
