    Great dinamic timelapse and love the rig! 👏😎
    I recommend to stiffen the camera mount and maybe increase the idle time (will increase also the oozing) before taking a picture, to remove the shakiness.

      It definitely needs adjustments on the custom G-Code side. As first prototype it proves the concept. I will get back to this project soon to make more cool time-lapse videos.

    Greetings Dombi3D,
    marvelous work you have done there.
    I am curious, whether the MK3S with your Rig would still fit under the Ikea Lack enclosure.
    Even though it is not "finished" do you perhaps have any dimension of of that setup?
    Best regards

    • @Dombi3D

      Not really. Only because of the pause time (some oozing filament) between layers but it has nothing to do with that rig.

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 2 lety +1

      The inside radius of the track is around 27cm. Because of the minimum focus distance of the lens.

    This would be so great if it was open source, WE have a makerspace and a new MK3s+ ... I'll throw in the RPi and the cam from my money, that would be awsome to attach to... You planned to make it available, I have no problem to print a prototype and give you feedback 😉

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 2 lety +1

      I have rebuilt it since then for a version2 so that all parts are printable on prusa mk3s. Currently working on to make it work with the new 16MP Autofocus Arducam which is much cheaper and lighter than the HQ Camera setup. When it finished, I will post a comparison video. The setup itself is fairly complicated with self written Python codes and Slicer Profiles (worked on it several months). To document everything clearly is too much effort for me right now, and this setup makes my time-lapses unique, which I would lose if I upload it somewhere. One option I see is to sell the parts 3d printed, but still need to make a documentation for it.

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 3 lety +2

      I planed to use the Octolapse plugin at the beginning but then I realised that it has a max FullHD resolution option which is far from the 12MP capabilities of this camera. So I end up to write my own script in python which makes the snapshots with the help of the picamera module.

  • @JeromeDemers
    @JeromeDemers Před 3 lety

    I thought octoprint did not accept full resolution out of the HQ camera? Does this mean you have a complete new pi that only does timelapse? And you connect the IO of that rig to the printer octoprint?

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 3 lety

      It is a little bit complex but I use one Raspberry Pi where runs the Octoprint server and I wrote my custom python codes which handles the camera moving stepper and servo motors and take photos and scrapes the data from the GCode also, so it knows how many layers has the currently printed model, so it can calculate the steps and also the angle for the servo motor to position the camera always to the middle of the model. There are also codes which are turning on and off the wireless LED lamps. The whole thing is triggered with custom G-Codes at every layer change: the LED turns on, the extruder goes to parking position, the camera positioned (slide and tilt), capture a photo, the LED turns off and comes the next layer. It is not perfect mainly because the stepper is a little bit weak but maybe with another gear ratio it would work better, don't know yet.

    • @JeromeDemers
      @JeromeDemers Před 3 lety

      @@Dombi3D thanks for the explanation, so I guest that using custom python code, you can save those high res images to folder and to the processing later. You are not using octoprint resources. I think I might start with simple python code that the picture with HQ camera. Then when that works I could build more features like steeper motor. Is that tilting servo "really" that useful? Image won't be at the middle . I guest I would need to see difference side by side. Anyway thanks and hope to see a video one day.

    • @Dombi3D
      @Dombi3D  Před 3 lety +1

      @@JeromeDemers Yes, I take photos in full resolution and after that I make a time lapse video from them. The tilting servo just used higher as 100mm prints. The camera has a really short focus range from that short distance, that is another challenge. If you have any question during your project ask and I try to help you!
