There are a few different widths of bottom brackets, and a lot of different widths of axle, and you want to make sure you buy the same size as the one you are replacing. I will always appreciate somebody who cuts to the chase! Trying to revive my 18 year old Haro shift R3. It's not a great bike but it's still in really good shape. So why spend two to three grand on a new bike when I could put $1,000 into this one.

Are there different measurements on how big that hole for the bottom bracket?
Prob a daft question but what do I need a really long Alan key for as I can't see an Alan key hole in middle of my bottom bracket
