Especially if it's a used mower, I've seen a lot with the engine brake faulty, safety seat unplugged etc. You have to be careful cleetus might of jerry rigged it to start by touching these 2 wires and next thing you know your hand is off. 3:46 Car dipsticks usually have "full" or "hot" and "cold" lines on the dip stick. I see two holes there. Is one for when the engine is cold and the other for when it is warm? Could you explain a little more where the oil should be on this mower's dipstick? Thanks.

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 4 lety

      The engine manufacturer (Briggs & Stratton) doesn't give "hot" and "cold" lines on the dipstick for the engine shown in the video. For the engine shown in the video, the "full" mark is even with the upper hole in the dipstick. The operator's manual for the engine instructs owners to fill the engine with oil to that full mark. If you have a different type of engine, follow the owner's manual or engine operator's manual instructions for properly checking oil using the dipstick. We hope this information helps. If you need more help, let us know and provide us with the model number of your riding mower and the engine model number as well.

    How do you keep grass clipping and dust and dirt from blowing up though the mower deck on a 210???

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 2 lety

      Grass clippings can build up on the underside of the mower deck and prevent grass from discharging out the side of the deck properly. You may need to remove the deck and thoroughly clean it. Here's a video that shows how to remove the deck: czcams.com/video/PDeW2-iI7Bc/video.html That video also shows how to replace a blade. Check the condition of the mower blades because a damaged blade may also prevent grass from discharging out the side port of the deck as well. You may also consider using this deck coating spray to treat the bottom of the mower deck so grass discharges properly: www.searspartsdirect.com/product/68mk3oxn7b-0071-071/id-mo-deck We hope these tips help. If you need further assistance, let us know.

      You could unscrew the piece of crap drain plug and go to hardware store and buy a piece of galvanized pipe/nipple with the same threads that is long enough to come out a little from the engine but not long enough to be in the way. Screw a pipe cap on one end and screw the other end into the engine. Or if you want you can tightly screw one end tight into the engine and tighten a 90 at the other end facing down angled however you want to drain wherever you want it to drain. Then add a short pipe nipple to the 90 with a cap on the end of it. When you want to drain the oil use a pipe wrench or vice grips/ channel locks to hold the nipple in place while unscrewing the cap.

    My lawn mower is idling low all of a sudden. Any thoughts why that would be happening

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 6 lety

      Check the air filter and replace it if it’s dirty. A clogged air filter can cause low idle speed. Replace the fuel filter if you haven’t changed it in the last year or two. A clogged fuel filter will cause the engine from idling properly. If you haven’t used the lawn tractor for a while and the fuel is over 6 months old, replace the fuel in the tank with fresh fuel. Stale gasoline can cause low engine idle. If those tips don’t help, you may need to clean the carburetor as shown in this video: www.searspartsdirect.com/repair-guide/riding-mower-and-tractor/how-to-rebuild-a-carburetor-in-a-riding-lawn-mower.html. Sometimes it’s easier to replace the carburetor instead of cleaning it. Here’s a video that shows how to replace the carburetor: www.searspartsdirect.com/repair-guide/riding-mower-and-tractor/how-to-replace-a-carburetor-in-a-riding-lawn-mower.html. To order parts for the engine on most lawn tractors, you’ll need to find the engine model number in the lawn tractor parts diagram and then use the engine model number to look up parts for the engine. You can order parts from here: www.searspartsdirect.com/. If you need more help, let us know the model number of your lawn tractor and additional details about the engine idling problem.

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  Před 4 lety

      Make sure you remove the dipstick when draining the oil. If the oil won't drain with the dipstick removed, then the drain valve could be clogged or defective. To drain the oil, you can remove the drain valve. Oil will drain onto the riding mower frame and the process will likely be messy. You can order a new drain valve with hose here: www.searspartsdirect.com/product/52m99jzb1k-0071-500/id-5401k . We hope this information helps. If you need further assistance, let us know.

      @@balmoreCruz Thanks for providing that model number information. The oil drain hose listed for Briggs & Stratton engine model 33R877-0007-G1 is part 594200 (www.searspartsdirect.com/product/21ib880hox-0071-500/id-594200 NOTE: The parts image we currently have associated with that part isn't accurate-we're correcting that image). To connect that drain hose, you'll need drain hose connector part 796532 (www.searspartsdirect.com/product/31hxldpam6-0071-500/id-796532 ). To connect that drain hose, you'll need to allow the engine to cool and remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil. Clean the threads on the engine then install the connector. Install the drain hose on the connector. Note: The hose typically clips on the blower housing to hold the oil drain hose in the upright position but your engine's blower housing may not have that clip. You may need to find a way to tie that clip up using a wire tie or some other means to secure that oil drain hose when operating the mower. Here's a link for the engine operating manual that shows that oil drain hose attached to the engine: bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=rknsFPWadsv1JAxB91ObQ The oil drain valve shown in the video is part 951-10517a ( www.searspartsdirect.com/product/4egfrwz48f-0071-247/id-951-10517a ). The hose associated with that drain valve is part 148456 ( www.searspartsdirect.com/product/8751fh9w66-0071-917/id-148456 ). We're not sure whether that drain will fit on your engine model. You could try it. If it fits, that drain valve would be better to install than the drain hose unless you have a clip on the blower housing to attach the drain hose designed to fit your engine. We hope this information helps. If you need further assistance, let us know.

    I have a craftsman mower with one of these engines. It’s a 2006-7 model year with the intek 540cc and has been reliable to this day but it is an absolute pain in the ass to change the oil on. Same process as in this video but the design of this drain system is horrible. Not all the oil ever comes out, and that’s with the engine having run so it’s warm, nice and runny and with the dipstick open. I have to manually turn the top of the engine with my hands to puke the rest of the oil out and then when my empty container has been filled with about the amount the engine is supposed to have and nothing else comes out I then close it all up do the filter and then fill it up with oil. Took a while to get it right but even the amount it’s supposed to take caused blow by the first couple oil changes i did almost as if the label on the inside of the hood is wrong from the factory.

    You never mentioned replacing the FUEL FILTER at the same time as your Oil Filter & Air Filter! Oh, and what about replacing those Spark Plugs, too. What about using your Quart Plastic Bottle w/ a special cut out to capture the Oil from underneath your Oil Filter so you don't have a mess? Laying the Quart Plastic Bottle flat and cutting the bottle in half from the bottom side 1/3 of the way up the side of the bottle gives you a perfect bailing funnel to capture the oil. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

      Fuel filter and spark plug should last you more than one season.

      Although this video only covers the oil change, our tune-up video covers the fuel filter and spark plugs: www.searspartsdirect.com/article/how-to-tune-up-a-riding-lawn-mower-video.html.
      We appreciate your tips on avoiding an oily mess when removing the oil filter. Those are helpful.
