    So, this scene made me bawl. All of that pain that ten went through, the hundreds of people he’s lost over the years, all of that trauma: finally being addressed and healthily taken care of. And his life not being perfect, and some days not being great, but most days being nice, is such an accurate depiction of recovery. This scene is the perfect resolution to ten and 14’s story. God, I cried.

    As happy as I am to see 14 with his family, I still imagine that the process of healing has only just begun. The Doctor has seen so much and has suffered so much and he’s run from it all. He is the man who keeps running, never looking back because he dare not, and now he has to. He has to face all those centuries of pain and loss and grief. The Doctor has said many times that he thinks the pain of it all would kill him, and I think he’s right. I think it would actually kill him, causing him to regenerate over and over again out of grief, always into an old face, always sobbing, and yet always with Donna and his family sitting there, right beside him, never moving, always there for him as his faces flow like his tears from one to the next until finally, he turns into an old, frail version of one of his favorite incarnations, his fourth. Finally, the weight of the millennia slides off his shoulders and he can resume enjoying life with his family, occasionally taking them on outings in his Tardis, and always bringing back a piece of everywhere he goes. Eventually the things he collects get put into a museum that proves very useful to his younger self and he lives out the rest of his days amongst family until he finally rests his head for the last time in his Tardis and sleeps his final sleep.
    The Lonely god has finally found his home, and he lived happily ever after.

    This still doesn't feel completely real, to be honest. I can't believe RTD managed to pull off such a beautiful intro for Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor while giving us the most cathartic possible ending for 14 and Donna. I'm not a huge fan of the bi-regeneration as a concept, but as a long-time fan of the Doctor and Donna, him settling down with her and her family was more than I ever dreamed of. I'm so happy Donna finally got the happy ending she deserved too, because while her original ending was tragically beautiful in its own right, this was an immensely satisfying payoff after so many years.

      I’m not a massive fan of what happened in The Timeless Child arc but if bigeneration is a thing, then The Doctor is the perfect person to become that myth. After all, he’s not Gallifreyan; he’s both the source of regeneration and also something ‘other’. The normal rules need not apply.
      I wouldn’t want it to happen again of course. One is kinda cool, multiple would start to feel ever more lame.

    • @Lord_Fenrir
      @Lord_Fenrir Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah bi-generarion being a common thing would kind draw away the magic of the 60th anniversary. Though also not personally a fan of it and its confusing a bit like how will 14 turn in 15 now that they bi-generated??🤔

    • @jamesjameslee8217
      @jamesjameslee8217 Před 17 dny

      What if...after bi-generation 14th doctor lost regeneration ability and his lifespan is much shorter due to dr #15, who is ... just next generation ? Look at Donna's doctor mind recovery and what Who said - she have a child so some part of energy went to her child - so looks like his "life energy" can't be doubled but divided between bodies so the bigger part of it went to #15

    I loved the way they handled WIlf and Bernard Cribbins' death. Instead of killing the character off entirely, they just had him elsewhere. I don't think the audience could have handled WIlf actually dying; we're still getting over not having Bernard anymore. He himself was just as beloved as Wilf was.

    The Fourteenth Doctor does eventually become the Fifteenth, and the Timeless Child has a long, long life. This is happy in the moment, but you know this ultimately ends the way it always does; they all die and the Doctor is back to being alone. I'm kind of assuming the Fourteenth's proper end will be during the Fifteenth's, because unlike with the Meta-Crisis, we don't actually learn what will happen to Fourteen beyond what we already know (he completes the bi-generation eventually by emerging from his past self as 15).
    And at the end of the day, a few decades is a drop in the bucket for the Doctor. Besides, based on The Church on Ruby Road it doesn't look like the Fifteenth Doctor will get to escape trauma coming right back on him. Just finished relaxing now he gets hit with things again.

    Obviously I’m relieved Doctor Who will carry on for a long time to come and I’m enjoying the new series. But if the show had had to end here, what a lovely send off it would’ve been. If the show ever ends it either has to end with ‘and he kept on running, forever’ vibe implying endless exciting adventures, or with a peaceful ‘and the Doctor finally stopped running. And rested’ peaceful ending like in this episode, which managed to give us both!
