I read and journaled thru the Bible with this reading plan for the first 4yrs of returning to christ in 1989. it was and still is the backbone of my bible memory and understanding.
Thank you for this fantastic explanation! This very video has motivated me to try this program, and I’ve been using it for 52 days today. It’s absolutely transformed my intimacy with God. I did, however, adapt the lists to my own preferences. Also, I tried to make it more balanced and evened out. And I read from beginning to end: List 1: Pentateuch List 2: History of Israel I (Joshuah - 2nd Samuel) List 3: History of Israel II (1st Chronicles - Job) List 4: Wisdom I (Psalm books I and II + Proverbs) List 5: Wisdom II (Psalm books III - V + Eccl + Song of Solomon) List 6: Prophets I (Isaiah, Jeremia, Lamentations) List 7: Prophets II (Ezechiel - Malachi) List 8: Gospels List 9: All of Pauls epistles (w/o Hebrews, because we don’t know for sure he wrote that) List 10: Acts, Hebrews, the other epistels, and Revelation) If anyone’s interested, I can send you a pdf for a more detailed explanation.
Thank you for this! I've been looking for a way to truly read the Bible from cover to cover. I'm not really contented by reading just one book or some books. I'm so slow in reading. This reading plan is a blessing. God bless you!
I’m in the ninth month of reading the Bible in a year. Even though I’ve been reading the Bible since 2012, this is the first time I am actually reading the entire Bible.
I’ve been using this reading plan and I absolutely love it! Thanks for spreading the word about this reading plan. I used to read the Bible straight from beginning to end and it gets boring like you said, but not with this system. I read 10 books at a time, one chapter each, sometimes more but I try to stick with the lists. I highly recommend this reading plan.
You have explained this way better than others. The graphics are very helpful. I have made the bookmarks and will start tomorrow. Thanks to God and Dr. Horner.
Thank you for posting this! I listened to this at the end of December, and took up this plan in January and have LOVED it! This plan has been amazing! I have printed your PDF, and have shared this with any Christian who will listen to me! I can’t thank you enough. I think the title of your video drew me in.
❤❤❤❤ Loving it 😍 This should be MORE POPULAR!!! I created a similar system reading a different section daily!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤ But this system is the BEST- Oh man I can’t wait to start tonight!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
... started the Bible reading plan today ... love how it keeps the tempo moving by going to different sections ... my first go and it took me approximately 55 minutes ... thanks for the input ... will make a commitment for the next 30-days to stay in God’s word
Thank you for putting this video and all this information together and getting it out there. I'd read an article about this system, but it wasn't presented in such a cogent and accessible manner. Praise God for your efforts!
... considering having the markers laminated ... believe they will wear fast being regular 20 pound paper, again thanks ... looking for God to change my life
I love this ... I have been looking everywhere for a easier way plus read something new everyday. But I have a huge question how can you read the Bible on your table. I have a few ideas of my own but I would like to hear your ideas too. Thank you so much for this video I can't to get started .. I will keep you posted on my bible on tablet vs the bible. Thank you again 😊
There is an app called unquenched bible with this plan to help you keep track. You can also set up reminders. I found the bookmarks got in the way and sometimes fell out of my Bible so I'm enjoying the app.
I really dislike reading plans that jump you all over the Bible. You lose important context this way and it makes it more difficult to follow narrative sections. I found it much better just to start at the beginning and read several chapters a day. If you’re new to the Bible use the NLT and get a good handle on the Scriptures with an easy to read translation. Once you’ve read it through re-read the New Testament a couple times. Then start over in a different translation. When reading slowly and highlighting things that stand out you can get through the Bible in about 80 hours, so even as little as 30 min a day will get you through in 6 months leaving you plenty of time to re-read the NT a couple of times before starting over.
I thought the same thing before I started this plan (I didn’t even want to read Old Testament and New Testament at the same time, let alone 10 books), but there are advantages both ways. Only reading one book at a time can lead to tunnel vision and not remembering what other parts of Scripture have said on similar topics/events, while this gives you a great big picture view of the Bible. To make sure I don’t forget the context I usually read the last part of the chapter before to refresh my memory (makes it take longer but it’s worth it). It’s also very hard to remember the whole Bible anyway with only one readthrough, the Bible really needs to be read repeatedly over a lifetime to make it sink in. But that’s why it is such a treasure to believers, there is a never-ending supply of wisdom and truth.
With this system should I read 5 in the morning and 5 at night I was reading 4 in the morning 3 in the noon and 3 at night and had a hard time keeping it up but I wanted To dwell on Gods word throughout the day
*Read it in order written* according to the scholarly consensus. *Respect the text* enough to let each author speak for himself. Don’t insert your modern understanding or your Church leader’s explanation. For passages difficult to understand, seek scholarly secular explanations (some faithful scholars provide secular translations, I.e. not assuming anything about God or his relationship to the Bible). The point is to not assume you know what the authors *meant* to say. You can’t know what they were thinking. Your clues are what they wrote, especially in the context of their culture, especially their language. If you find yourself saying, “He must have meant…,” 🛑 stop. You’re about to insert your theology instead letting the text speak for itself.
I actually did the maths with someone, it's a lot more than 30 years until it repeats!! It's more like 16 BILLION years until you get back to all the readings on the first day! And considering that the universe is 'only' 14.5bn years old... God has something fresh to say every. single. day.
you mentioned you purchased an inexpensive bible with leather cover ... would you mind sharing the name/maker of the bible you bought ... thanks, have started the reading plan since first heard, but now wanting to purchase a bible (small) that will stand the test of time. ... am reminded that God has said 'very well, I believe I know you, very well, wish that you knew me too, very well' ... love it, love it ...
Yes, I've started this system using the YouVersion Bible app, I found it was listed in the reading plans menu 👍 I use it along with the audio Bible function
@banjoapprentice3815 I found the reading plan as well on the olive tree app. The plan is 250 days long. How long is the plan in the You Version app? I guess I have some time to decide how I will continue.
I actually crossed it off list #3 and added it to list #4 before the book of James where it belongs. And I like it better that way. Is more fluid, I think.
It would greatly help if the pastor or minister of the Churches attended would teach the word book by book chapter by chapter verse by verse with understanding stop using man WORDS and commentary that most of the time so nothing to enhance gives greater meaning to the word and another study aid would be a James Strong Concordance lookup words in a verse in the old testament use The Hebrew dictionary CALDESCE and ARAMAIC make the verses plain and for the new testament use The Greek dictionar!; and another study tool is the COMPAION STUDY BIBLE BY EW BULINGER that outlined every CHAPTER in the Bible authorized king James Bible Also has a side columns explain the verses and in the back of the Bible there is a 198 apendex like v146 what in the first earth and heaven age and. What happened between Satan and mother Eve. 179 gives you a moment to moment of the birth of Jesus Christ. 153: tells of the CRUCIFIXION of Christ and 44 telling you what is sin difference between EACH and the punishment for EACH!

Thank you sir at 79 I will get started.
You got me beat; I’m only 76. 😂
I’m so happy that this came up on my CZcams feed!!! This sounds like just what I was looking for! I’ve already printed off the bookmarks! Thank you!!

Thank you for breaking this plan down so well for us. Thank you also for the bookmark link in the description
I start in Genesis and read 3 Chapters, 1 Psalm, and 1 Chapter from the NT. I get through Bible twice a year doing it that way
Thank you for sharing this. Really appreciate it 🙏🏾

Where can I find the bookmarks?
Anybody have a link that works for the bookmarks? The link in the description leads to a dead end. Thanks and god bless
Could this plan be used with a Thompson Chain reference Bible for even more in depth study or is that counter intuitive?
If you have a Bible reading plan you like let us know!

No website connected to your link😢

Do you still use this plan?
What do you do with Psalm 119? It’s very long.
Some days will take a little longer than others or you could break it up in thirds.

Up to you. When I did the system, I read it 5 in the morning and 5 at night.

Why are there two groups of Epistles?
Could one include the Deuterocanonical books that are in Catholic bibles with this plan?
Good question, I’m currently using the Ascension Bible plan, but, it doesn’t move you through it like this plan is purported to do.

Yes I actually made a video review of the Bible I use. czcams.com/video/Zk8Gobfx6So/video.html

@@scottmiller1729 It is 250 days in the YouVersion app too
I dont read fiction
Why did he put Hebrews where he put it?
That I do not know. Maybe to balance the readings out chapter wise.
