- The Kawasaki ZX-10R is a bike I have not ridden since 2016 and probably a little bit overlooked these days. So I took the latest version to Snetterton to put it through its paces to see how it stacks up!

Sorry to see you lost it, glad you’re ok just hurt your pride. Well done for sharing it anyway Chops
"I might buy it and repair it" One way to get it cheaper and keep the missus happy 😂. Glad you are ok.
These things happen on the track and Kawasaki know that when they loan it to you, the main thing is you are ok 👍🏻
The thing about your content is that you are brave and skilled enough to take it on track and do it justice. I really enjoy the realness of your videos and glad you are ok
Thanks Dave 👍
Great video as always chopsy , and your reaction towards crashing someone else’s bike just shines through that your a genuine bloke 👍👍
Footnote… I’m sure Kawasaki will survive 😂😂
I appreciate that thanks 👍
So true, I couldn't agree more.
Chopsy is such a nice, humble person, that's why I love his vids..
Sorry to see you go down on someone else's bike brother. You're such a gentleman about it though. Happens to the best of us. Your track riding is getting good too. This is just more experience to improve your skill. Valuable lesson unlocked: Know the limits of the bike/ physics on and off track before you actually surpass the limit. And that comes with getting more intimate with the machine. You're alright...✊🏽👍🏽👌🏽
Thanks buddy really appreciated 👍
Yup 👍🏾 lesson learned and you always have the greatest respect for the bike , main thing is you’re ok , you can always fix a bike bro 😎
Yep, sorry to see you go down and glad your fine LC. It's certainly an awesome bike - the pull it had (with you onboard) was impressive. I think with all the views your video's get, Kawa will still come out ahead after repairs - Bang for your buck the ZX10 is right up there and you certainly showed what it's capable of. When you talked of the why behind your drop, I think you also picked another part of it earlier in the vid, when you spoke about getting tired - riding at that level/pace on a high performance sports bike dosn't leave room for fatique. Thanks for a great look at the ZX10 and keep up the great work.
Good on you for posting this video- the realities and the risks. Glad you ok. I always enjoy your videos and reviews.
You’re not the first and you won’t be the last, hard luck Chopsy but the greatest thing is that you lived to tell the tale.
Well done for sharing Mr Chops, love your honesty. It’s going to happen at some point and usually in one of those last sessions when you are going for it, but just a bit tired which can lead to an error. But the main thing is you are OK and Kawasaki will fully understand the risk here.
Great video Chops, I usually switch off after a few laps of a track video but your camera work and editing kept me completely interested, thanks man.
Thanks very much 👍😁
Great vid, glad you’re ok! 👏👍😀🏍
So happy you are OK Chops!
The ZX-10 is just so good now...A real stunner too!
Heat, heat exhaustion, hot bike, hot tires, and then hot damn! Going for a ride! It happens.....All the time.
Still I feel you pain ouch!...Damn that would hurt worse than the road rash!
Would be awesome to have that bike as project machine!
I am looking forward to the road ride!
Seriously happy you are OK!
Great video Chopsy. Thought you were genuine and pretty humble about the outcome. Hats off to you for sharing
Keep them coming mate, looking forward to the 790/GSX8s reviews 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Ben 👍
Sorry to see the spill.Great coverage thks.
Any crash you walk away from is good, it happens to the best in the world Chops. I guarantee a top class rider has crashed on that very corner sometime or other.
I'm loving the looks of that ZX10 and it'll be interesting to see how it's road manners are.
Great video again Chops. Glad that you are okay mate. 👌😊
Main thing is that you’re ok buddy! Shame about the bike, but as someone else said, Kawasaki knew that was a risk when they lent it to you. Doesn’t sound too bad as Kawasaki can likely source those parts on internal cost. From their perspective, it was a great test and showed how good the bike actually is! I’d be interested to see your road test on it, and how it compares on the road to other litre sports bikes (like the S1RR). Great video as ever Chopsy!
Thanks Sean 👍
Massively buzzed off that vid for a Saturday morning glad your ok 👌
Hate to see the crash, but glad you’re okay and that Kawi was cool about it! I’m not super fast, but I would stand to bet that your lowside was due to being too stiff/too much weight on the bars. From the rearward facing cam you’re nearly straight-armed…with the speed you were going on that corner, you shouldn’t have lost the rear…get more comfortable & find a way to be barely touching the bars (no matter how tired you are) and you’ll run less lean angle and easily recover from moments like this IMHO!
Glad you’re ok after the crash! Chin up and carry on stronger 👍
Glad to see that you are ok!
Happy to hear you made it through with only minor bruising Chops. Most people I know who have binned it have done it at the end of the day. Tyres are getting tired, riders are getting tired. Bad things happen to good people. 👍🏽
Thanks Bruce, yup exactly what happened 👍
@@LambChopRides Sure 😜
Glad you’re not badly hurt. The bike looked fab and I’d guess well set up for the road with that gearing.
Yes absolutely 👍
Well done, youre strong we all like you from all over the world, glad youre ok... i know how you feel. But we are proud of you just to be courageous enough to show us this video of your less good experience... Thank you mate
Sounded like you were pushing it harder when you went down, no injuries so great news !!
I’m glad you’re okay Chops! I would be interested in your road review of this bike since it seems like the gearing would need to be changed to make it fun for the road. Appreciate your hard work!
Glad you're ok mate, bikes can be repaired and replaced.... Keep up the good reviews and content chopsy 👍🏻
congrats on your new zx10 r! 😁
You’re safe and well chops 🙏 . Every time you take a bike on track there’s a risk of a spill. Kawasaki know the deal and I’m glad they’ve been super cool with you. Great bike.
Thanks Mat 👍
Finally!! A 2023 zx10r review! Poured a cup a coffee and started my Saturday morning off which Chops!
Glad you are ok. I did the same thing on my ZX10r at Snetterton. So easy just to give it too much throttle coming out of the corner at the end of the session and lose the back wheel.
Machines can be repaired, bodies take longer to heal. Glad you're OK! I've had a nice close up view of that bit of tarmac as well 😂
Glad you ok Chopsy👍
I was there that weekend, didn't realise you had an off, glad you are ok. I saw you there and we are of similar size, so hearing your thoughts on rider comfort is great for me, looking forward to your thought on the road test!
Should have said hi 👍
Thought you said, there's no rush 😊,
flat out everywhere ,
Beautiful machine,
Well your up on your feet that's the main thing ,
Well done to Kawasaki for being so understanding 👏,
Glad you're okay and Kawasaki have looked after you.
Throughout the video you said it was hot and looking to get cooled down but also from the video it was noticeable your breathing was getting more intense. Probably a sign to back off.
Do enjoy your channel.
Glad your ok. Not sure what rider aids are on the new zx10 but was wondering what were the settings on when you went down…. Was traction control/slide control off?
Keep it up chopsy 👍
It's happened to many of us Chopsy - certainly me too 🤣 Good to hear there was only minimal damage to yourself mate.
Glad your ok mate picking up my zx4rr very soon hopefully you will review one 👍
Yes I hope so 👍
My mate is a big lad and his riding style is just like yours...he falls off a lot 😂👍🏻
Looking good out there Chopsy , that zxr looks a beast on the track ! Pity about your off mate , that's why I never take a shot of anyone's bike !!I'd hate to damage it , just one of those things the crash , at least you didn't get hurt too bad and take anyone else with you so all good .helmet cam looks decent , sound a bit muffled but looks decent the crash helmet . Glad your ok keep it up .👍👍
Wow testament to all the gear you were wearing that you walked away with just a bruised knee.
Good to see that you didn't hurt yourself. That would have been worse! The Bike can be fixed easily.
That THUMBNAIL 🤩
❤ stay safe out there chopsy!
Thanks Ben 👍
Hi Chopsy. Glad u r ok. Always remember bikes can always be repaired / replaced. Bit more difficult for the riders when coming a "cropper". Big up to have the "testies" to not just show the slide but to put your hands up and admit you made a gaff. Best and keep safe, Old Bloke.
Thanks buddy 👍
I'm taking mine to the track next Friday for its first session and I know it's going to scare the chocolate out of me. I bought the bike from a friend who raced in Moto America and it has all the race bits in the engine so it's making...a lot of power. Coming from my ZX6 I'm going to have to completely recalibrate my brain...
But I'm super excited to get it out there!
Chopsy, bikes can be mended, the positive is that you’re ok with just the bruising. Thanks for posting and sharing the fact you had an off, not everyone would be honest enough. BTW the camera and sound on the helmet were spot on. What sort of cost are they.? Cheers 👍🏻
Nice one 👌
I got Snetterton Monday I’m bricking it now 🤣. Glad your ok Chops
Haha have you Alex, don't worry you will be fine 👍😁
At least you weren't tickling it. In some respects that's sort of what its about. I try to explain to my car friends the difficulty of feeding the power in when coming out of a corner and how it can catch you out in a split second. Do you know, I was just thinking about your biking exploits the other day and how safe you ride, typical !! Glad you're ok.
I love the way the Kawasaki green glows on cloudy days.
Glad you’re okay bud! That’s the main thing! Great riding!
Damn sorry Chops , still good job pushing hard , good video .
What a bugger, but the main thing you are OK, and have lived to tell the tale. You looked in complete harmony with the bike I have to say. And good on Kawasaki for not making a big issue. Thank you
Thanks Stephen, yes was getting on brilliantly with it which is really why I was pushing in the end. Felt so good 👍
Glad you're ok Chopsy, you and Kate are 1-1 now (I kid I kid) I bought a 2016 ZX10R new in early 2017, and its been my baby since! The best mod I ever did, was Vortex 2.0 Rearsets and Helibar Trackstar Clipons. Makes the bike super comfy, GP shift, and it actually handles better than stock. 3/4 system, filter and a flash, mine put down 202rwhp, absolute cruise missile.
Very nice! 👌👍
You’re scraping the pegs with ease - it’s a testament to how good that bike is.
Crash or not - it’s a great bike.
Absolutely!
Unlucky mate.positives you where on the arses of the hi viz vests boys.👍
This is why its important to go on track. Better to have a crash on track than on the road.
Glad you are ok Chops. Great video though 👌
Bummer on the crash. Looking forward to your road review of the bike.
At our age, Choppsy, a sneeze can knock us out for weeks... glad to hear you're OK.
Glad your ok Chops ☺️ Pete
Great footage. Hope you are ok. 👍
Yep it’s a great project bike for you, good idea 👍
It would match the H2. Put on some rearsets and Clip-Ons to make it more comfortable for you. Swap Tyres and brake pads and you are golden for a trackday bike 😊
Hi Lambchop, could you make a video on the emotional rollercoaster after a crash. The guilt, apologies that go around and convincing the loved ones that it's ok. That would be a nice vlog.
Had you turned the traction control off or simply down?
That ride was fantastic and Kawasaki make very nice bikes the ninja is one of the most badass SS out there , for the crash i think is due to the stiffness of your handling, when going sporty or on the track you must have your arms relaxed and not grab the steering in corner because this leads to crash and this happened also to me , you make very nice vidoes 👍
Oof, glad you're okay mate!
Thanks Dan 👍
You fell off on the very corner where I was taking pictures from earlier in the day 😮. Kinda puts me off taking my Tuono factory round there 😅
The main thing is that you're okay. I'll tell you what a motorist told me last March after a tractor trailer closed me out and I woke up in the center lane of I-75 at connector 3 in Dalton Georgia and I looked up at him and he looked at me and he said are you okay? And I said How's my bike? And he said oh man that's just material stuff they've got I-75 shut down for you. LOL. It happens
Me and my friend actually crashed both our ZX-10R's 7 days ago on Spa. He has a 2019 SE and went in the rain in the fast left after Blanchimont. Yes very big bill😮. And I went with my 2008 in the La Source hairpin over a wet patch list the front. Drove 3 hours home with a painfull wrist, which is now in a cast because of a small fracture. It sucks but it just happens with track riding, especially when you get faster and faster. Overall I have done atleast 35 trackdays. Crashed on my very first trackday and now in my last. Had way more close calls then I can count, but you can't always dodge that bullit.
We’ve all been there, for sure. I don’t believe you were on the throttle. Rather, and as you noted, you were getting faster throughout the long, hot day, and were leaning the bike further and further, occasionally touching the peg. I think you simply leaned too far and the bike got tripped up when the peg caught. Again, I put it down to the long day and being overheated. The fix is to try to use body position a bit more to reduce the bike lean. (I don’t mean to be a wise guy. I’ve been counseled by school coaches for doing the same thing: going too fast in corners and leaning too close to hard parts, as well as becoming less consistent late in extremely hot days.) It would be well worth a few days of instruction re: body position and bike lean as well as standing the bike up on exit. So glad you are okay and that Kawasaki UK are being gems about it.
It happens to us all. Main thing is your in one piece!
I have the same issue with my glasses coming off when riding, considered laser eye surgery but at £5500 (after consultation) its not cheap, have you considered it chopsy?
glad your ok after the spill.
You and dropping kwakas! These things are part of the ride 👍😆
Chopsy had a woopsy, glad your ok mate 👍
Glad you are OK. Bikes can be fixed.
Was the traction control turned fully off?
Mate better to crash on the track than on the road , glad that you didn't get get hurt .
Oooh bad luck mate… I know how you feel, I crashed my SRAD Walker rep when I was on a photo-shoot with Practical Sportsbike magazine, they paid for the whole weekend and we got 2 sessions in all day. Still stings… that helmet is quite neat though, maybe not so great on the audio, but the camera is excellent. Keep your chin up, we’ve all been there. 👍👍
Yeah it's a bummer, the worst thing was telling kawasaki what happened. Never want to be in that situation again, much prefer it to be my own bike next time
@@LambChopRides makes you feel like you’d beg for the ground to open up so you can dive in doesn’t it. When Simon Hargreaves was on the phone to Jim Moore updating him what happened I felt soooo bad. Jim and Simon were equally great only being concerned for me (I was fine…) and luckily we got all the beauty shots (of the bike not me… that’s for sure lol) before I went highside. Combination of cold tyre and overtight Headrace bearings, but the positive at least is it gave my CZcams ‘handle’. Bike is in my profile pic.
It really does, worst part was it happened on a Saturday, so Monday morning before I could get hold of them 😫
Sorry to see the crash. 💔 You are still better than me 😊👍.
The helmet cam needs a sunny day. The quality was much better with the sun out.
Glad you're ok
All good Chris 👍
Bugger. Was looking great up until that point but I guess these things happen from time to time unfortunately. Bike's repairable & you're not mangled so could've been worse for sure. Looks like a fun bike & seems very underrated. Looking forward to your road review of it.
Thanks RR 👍
Awesome bike. I ride new Z900 myself which is a beast in itself, I can't imagine how ZX-10R feels then :D Low side, I thought you were breaking a bit too much in the corner? Great video.
He lost the rear. Not through braking too much.
Happens to the best of us!
23:10 « It ain’t much, but it’s honest work… » 😂
How come the traction control didn't intervene?
You ride at the track and its bound to happen....glad your ok. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Was traction control completely turned off?
Arh man there's nowt worse than binning it even worse when it's not yours but don't let it get you down you have to expect and accept a bad day from time to time at least you had fun in the process and a good advert for trackday insurance lol. It's been a great video and brilliant to get some helmet footage it needs a different mic or it repositioned though. Glad your ok Chopsy old boys don't bounce like they used to👍
Cheers buddy 👍
Shit happens !... We all get a little bit giddy at times and most of the time we get away with it.
What about traction control settings I have never used it myself...
old school 👍
Glad you’re all good and it was a slow speed incident. Not sure how it all works with insurance and whatnot, but if there’s a place where supporters can chuck a few bones to help out, post a link.
Appreciated thanks for the offer, I would never ask that of you guys though. Kawasaki covered everything so all good 👍
Bro ive done exactly the same as you on a 2 dayer at snets, 2 years ago, on a omcc day, i still try to gun itnout of that bend, but only once ive started lifting the bike up, i still.dont really know why it happened other than being too greedy onbthe throttle too soon,
Exactly what this was, an OMCC day 😄 yeah I don't really know what happened if I'm honest 🤷♂️
Glad you're OK. No footage of the crash beyond what you shared?!
In respect to kawasaki who have been brilliant I promised not to share the smashed bike footage
even the most experienced people in ANY field has times where they find themselves getting a little "greedy" and makes a mistake. at least your fine chops. thats what really matters.
You're ok and the bike can be repaired. I'd call that a good result for a drop on track.
Infact there are a few good things about this. Firstly you know how far you can push it now - though I think the heat may have played a part in this because it looked like you were taking that corner in a similar way most of the later sessions so an overly hot tyre won't have helped.
Secondly if you can buy that bike and split the difference on parts or something with Kawasaki I bet it would make an awesome track bike. Shorter gearing and a map to soften the throttle could make that a gem to throw about on track.
Lastly I doubt Kawasaki are going to lose out even after the bike was crashed. They know its likely some will go down on track tests and allow for it but on top of that this is some great onboard footage which is really hard to get from a UK track and having seen it I'm kind of wanting a zx10 now. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Thanks buddy good points 👍
Shit happens.
Also, honourable shout out to the brave guy bringing what looked like a Ducati 916 out on track 👀
Aside from the audio quality (which is still passable and better than nothing), that Bruce Forcite helmet seems pretty handy.
Yeah it is, as you say audio is better than nothing! Also gopro is just so good with the audio makes anything else look rubbish
@starfox_wr-e93 The audio on my videos sounds pretty rubbish at 70mph...I have no idea what it would sound like at 154 .....🤣🤣 Glad you're OK Chopsie....cost of parts to repair...probably a few hundred quid for Kawasaki 😁
