    I've used the iris scanner as my main unlock for a few weeks and I've had no issues, in sunlight, darkness, or anything. I've also not had any pain or discomfort at all, and I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I never have to adjust the phones distance from my eyes for it to work.

  • @gjmom6620
    @gjmom6620 Před 6 lety +4

    Iris and face recognition combined or Iris by itself is secure because when I tested it with my phone and closing my eyes it doesn't work , but when I open my eyes it works. Very good when you're sleeping and someone is trying to go in your phone.

    I'm not sure about this review, now, I'm not biased because I own a iPhone 7 and a Galaxy s8. My Iris sensor has had no trouble in the dark, or when I have galsses on. (Please note that they were sunglasses, non prescription) and I have a glass screen protector, and you said that you can't one? That's rediculous. There is a cut out for the sensors. I would appreciate if you put more thought into your videos. Also, Iris sensing is much more secure than Face ID or Touch ID because no 2 persons irises are the same. You also compared the iPhone 8/7 touch ID on the front, when the comparison is on the iPhone X with Face ID and no Touch ID. I would also like to note that on plenty of other non Apple named (and non Android focused) channel reviews that the Iris sensing worked fatser than Face ID. Again I would like to restate that I am not biased because I am fourtuneate enough to own multiple products form each company. I would also like to point out that Samsung states in the warning that any CLOSER THAN 20cm and all he mentions is that it can damage your eyes, and not because you are holding it too close. He also says that it is a bad thing that Samsung tells you to go see a doctor of you have a medical condition in your eyes, this is a totally sensible thing to ask. If they didn't care about the consumer, they wouldn't have all of these warnings. It could also be argued that it is just a disclaimer so that they don't get sued is quite valid, but this disclaimer also outlines that it should be safe with these piameters, and to say that you won't use it just becuase you didn't fully read the text. Wow. Also, personally, I don't have huge hands, but on my friends Note 8, and my S8 the fingerprint sensor is in a natural postion for me. You said that it would take a adjusting to get used to the sensor, but you didn't mention how the new gestures on the iPhone X took time to get used to, just as Face ID is slightly different to work. Another thing you talked about is how insecure the face unlock on the note is, that choice is up to the user, wether they want seucurity or speed, and that's why one or the other is on. (Face recognition or iris scanning) There are just so many problems with this video, I hope anyone who reads this takes it into consideration because of the dreadful video you have just been showed.
    Edit: No dip it doesn't unlock with your eyes closed 😂

    This video should be called "Trying to make Face Id look good against multiple and usefull samsung unlocking sistems by selecting the worst of them"
    First of all, if the review it's about Note 8 against Iphone X, why did he tried to compare the fingerprint scanner with the Iphone 8 one???! He did not compared a normal Note's 8 fingerprint scanner vs, wait, what? Oh, nothing from Iphone X.
    On the other hand, he tried to hide how the real face scanner from the Note 8 works, it has been on samsung for many years ( galaxy s3, at least 6 generations before iphone X) the idea is that you scann your face in varios situations (with glasses, sunglasses, etc) it is a little bit more work but it's not like you won't be capable of unlocking your phone if you don't get your sunglasses off.
    Finally I think the face scanner didn't work on the Note 8 at darkness because the X had like full screen light and the 8 like 3%.
    It's not difficult to tell I prefer android but also it's not difficult to tell YOU ARE AN APPLE FANBOY.
    Like if u prefer android.

      Juan Sebastián Ramírez Even the facial recognition on Samsung devices is shit. It can easily be tricked with a photo, because it is 2D facial recognition. And how would you even do a comparison of the fingerprint scanner against FaceID? "Oh, a test to see if the fingerprint scanner will work with sunglasses on. I can't wait to see if it works!!"? FaceID is also better security wise, and it is a lot easier to bypass the fingerprint scanner than it is to bypass FaceID.

    This post has nothing to do with the iPhone X:
    I had a Note 7 and have a Note 8, so I've been using iris scanner for the past year, it works really well. I don't think it's mathematically as secure as Face ID, but it can't be tricked by a photo, so realistically it can't be tricked at all since nobody has the same irises. I wish this video had been a bit more unbiased. Like the whole eye damage thing is bull crap. I've been using it for a year and have never had "eye strain." Also the finger print scanner placement it not bad at all, and I feel like some CZcamsrs and critics just feed off of what others say just to stay meta or something. Its really not that hard to not touch your camera. I mean it's on the right and the finger print scanner is on the left, it's not that hard. Holding the Note 8 from the bottom I can reach the scanner (I probably have big hand tho because I literally have to bend my finger to get the scanner). The average hand length is 7.44 in (6.77 in for women) palm to finger tip and the Note 8 is 6.3 in long, I'll let you do that math. Sorry I just can't watch another video where someone complains about the finger print scanner and have nothing original to say. I just want CZcamsrs to be less biased and come up with original arguments, other wise your video is just annoying.

      Jermiah Russell I get that the whole point would be to confirm whether the Face Id is indeed more efficient and reliable than previous techs, which I agree it is, and there are ways to argue in that favor, not pointing out false flaws about other technologies, or taking advantage of a simple and required health security information for radiation emission, for example. Also, saying that you need to get the phone closer in order to unlock is a flaw does not count that this would be the distance required for you to see the screen. What is the point of unlocking the phone from a distance that you can't read the screen?
      Anyway, I agree with the Face Id being the evolved hype new tech, but I want to see people being honest using good arguments in that favor, with reliable tests and not only childish personal comments.

    I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and my friend owns an iPhone X. Both of us checked if our devices unlocked when our eyes were closed. To our surprise we found that both the devices actually unlock even when our eyes are kept closed. Maybe iPhone 10 unlocked 6 out of 10 times not every time. But it did. That is only after watching this video that we did that test. Both of us are no longer using face ID as our security. Thanks for the information. God bless you.

It's very obvious that if you pay the $1000 fine to get an iPhone x with a dual camera in the front the gets a 3d map of a face. But an iris scanner is just as secure. And you can cop a s8 for $550 half the price. So realistically, the iPhone x face Id isn't crazy good for the price. First off, this sounds like an advertisement for apple so i won't point out everything just the inaccuracies. Samsung had 3 ways of unlocking, fingerprint which has been proven to work for every smartphone for the past 4-5 years, also the face recognition feature was tested incorrectly because you didn't register it correctly, as for the eyes, the iris scanning is as harmful as pointing a remote at your face, the short exposure of inferred does nothing and your are at more of a risk with getting eyestrain by glancing at the sun than unlocking using the iris scanner. And face ID is not as accurate as the iris scanner, government agencies use iris scanning and has been proven for more than a decade, and if you want a more convenient way of unlocking the phone you can just slide your finger onto the fingerprint scanner when picking the phone up. Again, I understand you're apple insider, but if you want to compare a phone atleast learn how to use it before you turn on the camera, its ok the return policy is about a month.

    How are you comparing face ID to the Iris scanner??? The review is already messed up... you're talking about not having issue with your eyes when using face ID on the iPhone but...duh...it's FACE ID not an Iris scanner...it works off of 3D imagery of the face. So you can't compare you having issue with your eyes using Iris scanner and not face I'd...use both facial recognition for both phones for a real comparison..

      What incredibly stupid logic. They're both the main ways of unlocking the phone, therefore, it makes perfect sense to compare them. That's like saying "You can't compare this screen to the other screen because one is LCD and the other is OLED"

    • @PL876
      @PL876 Před 6 lety +1

      SCtester if you read my comment properly youd see that the point is that he said his eyes hurt because of the Iris scanner..and not the iPhone facial recognition. Two completely different ways to unlock the phone...now if the iPhone had an Iris scanner and he said "Samsung's Iris scanner hurts my eyes but iPhone doesn't"....that would be a better comparison. Face ID is better because of its technology. It’s easier to unlock a Samsung’s phone than Apple’s. That just said everything. Samsung just put the technology to satisfy the users’ needs but don’t care to do it well (like the galaxy note 5), on the other hand, Apple makes years of research and testing.

      @gabriellovesmusic Před 6 lety +9

      Hydzior I'd rather have a "half baked"(according to you, at least) feature than a something which doesn't know how to differentiate between twins. I tested my cousins iPhone X with my S8, it unlocks identically quick. You didn't mention that Face ID doesn't work reliably in direct sunlight either. A colleague at work recently bought the X too, at one point, he tried unlocking, but failed too. So my point is, face ID isn't that much better than iris scanner. Prefer iris scanner any day over face ID (especially the fact that it takes 3 steps to do one simple thing - unlocking, which is super annoying)

      Rory Curran 'Uncencored'? Wtf? Also how is adding face id 'attention to detail'? 'Attention to detail' is doing something like adding a layer of smudge-proof coating for camera lenses not to be smudged (which Samsung did). Face ID was a MUST for the iPhone X not 'Attention to detail' lol. I have no idea where you got that from.
      Also, you call the fingerprint sensor 'ugly' when Apple literally took a cut-out of your screen to get the face ID sensor in there lol THAT really is 'ugly'.
