NFL Players are notorious for being terrible with their finances. It’s best people like that get paid weekly/bi-weekly a similar amount so that they get a feel for how much they can spend without going broke. You have to think some of these guys do not care how much things cost because they are that rich.
This dude literally said “do you bring in a blank check and write void all over it?” He seriously doesn’t understand how checks work lololol what a knob
He's referring to the VERY old way we used to do direct deposit before online banking. You would literally bring a check to payroll and write VOID and they would use it to set up your DD. So yeah, YOU don't know how checks work, but he thinks it's still 1997 for some reason.
It’s the same for teachers, although on a much smaller scale! Teachers can choose to get their salary paid out in 9 months (larger amount) or a smaller amount paid out over 12 months.
There is a guy here on CZcams, Antonelli Baseball. He answers questions about how things work in the MLB. Differences between A, AA, AAA baseball. How travel works all kinds of stuff. Need an NFL channel doing this.
Nah thats something i actually always wondered. Do they get paid bi weekly. Or do they get paid once a year. Is the signing bonus paid all at once every year of the contract 🤔. I always wanted to know for sure
Why can’t they do it WEEKLY like European sports? For example: Let’s start with $1k/w for a rookie. $52k a year base salary + bonuses and incentives like if you have a great performance, you get a $1k bonus. For every win, you get a $1k bonus. If you make the playoffs, you get a $10k bonus. For every playoff win, you get a $10k bonus. If you win a championship, $1m bonus. Who wouldn’t like that? Control your wages.
What’s not to understand? If you have a bonus in your contract it’s spread over your regular 36 week salary. Some players have different cash flows that are negotiated into their contracts and might get additional money in the offseason.
Players get paid every Sunday. They also get there signing bonus added to some of there weekly checks. They are also taxed for like every away game all year. One of my homeboys that I went to college with showed me his direct deposit, after taxes, and game tickets for family, he brings home $34,000 a week. $45,000 after taxes.
This is why getting suspended for a game hurts a lot more than being fined 100k or whatever. They miss a game check, that’s a percentage of the salary.
Based on a lot of the comments around here, your age and intelligence of the financial industry really shows. Before direct deposit was really a thing players did receive a big check with their name on it on game day. Fun fact: Miss a game miss a check.
How is this a question? "Teams" are literally company's with billionair owners CEOs, CO'S etc. "Players" are employees that sign legal financial contracts. They are paid like any other employee in the U.S.
Kind of like some teachers get paid through the summer it's all in how you negotiate it plus if you're making a lot of money you shouldn't live loudly so to speak put that stuff away for a rainy day
At first I was thinking why not divide it into 52 weeks instead of 36? Then I realized why, and I get it. In fact, they should get paid once a year after the first year. Teach them how to save.
And this little insight just proves how complicated atheltes contracts negotiations across really any professional sport is for athletes. I see people all the time commenting that players who make x,y and z should cost this or that, specifically in soccer. It's not that simple
I used to work at check n go in Dallas and I had a Dallas cowboy come in to get a loan. They are paid weekly/biweekly for weeks of work just like the rest of us. Labor laws are the same. What's not the same is i can't buy a house with one pay check (or 50). 😂💰
I kinda don’t understand why they wouldn’t negotiate receiving their salaries weekly or monthly so that they continue to have cash flow throughout the time they’re not working. Or does that affect taxes?
I personally got to see Saquon Barkley’s wire transfers start hitting when I worked for the bank he banked with. I helped his family so that’s how I got to see it.

I mean do they need to be paid in the off-season? They are making 4-5 times more(at the low end) what the average person makes annually. I hope they can manage their money.
