I adore Supergirl and her comics. It's sad that there isn't much of a fanbase for her.
They can never figure out a proper persona for her. Ever since Kara was brought back before the NEW52, every creative team that works with the character changes her so drastically. It never seems like you're reading the same character with any consistancy.

I can see why King made this story for his daughter. And Kara has been through it! I mean, she went through at least 3 genocides of her people.
Yeah, like she can be a happy Superfam character, but she should have a bit of a Sardonic Side to her. It be a nice counter to Clarks or who should be a ray of sunshine.

@@WannabeWryterI agree with you. Kara as Supergirl doesn't have to literally be Superman in a skirt in terms of characters, but rather a character with her own personality and with her own issues to resolve.
I’ve been a fan of SuperGirl since the 1970’s. Our fan base may be small but we are loyal.

The only way for this Supergirl movie to be good is to bring back Sasha Calle as Supergirl, especially after what happened to her in The Flash.
I wonder how they would handle all the Superman related stuff since Legacy focuses on him in his earlier days.

This was a good watch. Of the stories I've heard about super girl I think my favorites are this one and when she became a red lantern.
Supergirl is easily one of the most underrated characters. I remember someone someone saying doomslayer could beat supergirl but lose to Superman and Wonder Woman
Supergirl is potentially stronger than superman in comic canon.

I like the story. Couple things:
1) who does Supergirl want revenge against for krypton; 2) there always hope AFTER a few hundred years.
I’m pretty sure that’s the point though… who do you blame for when armageddon knocks on your door and the only reason it happened was because a random natural disaster just happened to spin the wheel of fate and land on your home?
1. She doesnt want revenge. She just misses her family and home
2. It just shows that with enough time and reflection, anyone is able to become good
Man I’m extra hyped for this supergirl movie now(and I was already excited) they do this right it could be a really cool space epic
Tom King gets a lot of crap for some of his stories, but this is a good one.

I bought this TP of Supergirl for several important women in my life this past Christmas because I find this story to be the greatest heroine story of this millennium so far
Also, loved listening to Benny do his interpretation of the story, I just find it so relatable and profound; especially for those who have dealt heavily with tragedy in their lives like myself
Honestly took me a good while… let’s say… ever since i finished reading the series back in the middle of 2022 to realise now that the killing Krem ending in Ruthye’s book is to put all the heat onto supergirl instead…
She 21… on what planet? Like has that supergirl ever been to earth? Is she using earth years? So many questions.
Did anyone else see the title as 'Supergirl woman, of tomorrow'?

The ending is really what caught me off guard. Upon first reading it, I honestly thought that Ruthye had killed Krem with her cane, but he does "twitch" in the second panel. But goes into resting phase in the third, so it kinda makes it less clear, but I guess Tom King has said Ruthye didn't kill him. Even said, the ending felt a little cold, but when you think about how many people he senselessly murdered including her father, it may just be too hard of a thing for her to forgive, regardless of how much he changed. I am sure she is glad he has, but she still wants nothing to do with him, and I guess that is fair, is it not? I guess we expect a more fairytale ending, but not every story should be like that.
The only other thing that bothered me was how much Supergirl cussed. It just felt a little over done, yeah she's more edgy than her cousin, I get that, but it was just a little much at times.
The art is simply beautiful and kept me engaged when sometimes the story didn't. Overall though, I see why this is being made into a movie, just wonder how big the budget is going to be for it!
As far as the movie being based on this story, I think it's a really weird place to start. Personally, I think the Supergirl movie should be based on Superman/Batman: The Supergirl from Krypton from 2004.

I mean, it's an interesting story... but kind of a weird one to base your first movie in almost 40 years about Supergirl. Maybe a series would work better. I know she'll have an "intro" in the Flash movie but I doubt it will be that deep of a dive.
They are probably gonna do her story from many years into her lore while going back and doing flash backs and making movies based on her past adventures
Gunn's plan is unlikely to succeed. I bet his version of Supergirl doesn't get made.

Well, I see why James wants to use this story. But it'll be interesting how he does as in this story supergirl is already been around for a minute. So I'm wondering how he will appoarch this.
Well given that Superman isn't an origin story and Batman already had Damian and the Bat Family, it might be safe to assume that we're gonna jump into the middle of their lives after they've been doing their thing for years. Kinda like how the PS4/5 Spider-Man game was set 8 years after him being Spidey
Plus the CW already gave us a Supergirl origin story, so no need to backpedal

Hmm, not bad I suppose. Could be interesting in movie format. Not sure I liked all the preaching vengeance / killing bad when the targets are ppl that literally kill for giggles on a massive scale. Not everyone carries around a portable hell dimension to lock them in after all lol. Other than that it was kinda confusing. Especially towards to end.
They turned Supergirl into Jack Sparrow.... okay.

Just just as they work so hard to tell a story about lost and forgiveness and Grace they just take it away and essentially say forgiveness is overrated. Everybody deserves forgiveness. Everybody. I hope that is imparted in the movie

In the final scene, why is Ruthye old but Kara isn’t? Do Kryptonians not age or something, because Superman has grey hair in kingdom come. I was just confused.
I believe kryptonian aging rather slowly when energized by the sun constantly, In kingdom come, superman been self-isolating and didn’t get proper sun inside his cave so he’s aging rapidly
Kingdom kome is from an alternate universe and has no connection with this story

I get now why this story is very good. But the theme forgiveness and compassion more suited to wonder women no? Id imagine super girl would be more teenager-ish.
Well she's like twenty one, And considering how long she's be around kara would be the same age as Nightwing whose in his twenties.
Teen adventures would be for Connor Kent.

This was a really great story but it felt too all over the place... I still liked it.
I like this but it felt like supergirl didnt really have a personality and because I don't know much about superegirl outside of the cw show it was a little disappointing

There has to be a better introductory supergirl story than this. Its just gonna confuse the average movie goer. I have little faith in Gunn handling the DCU
i think Gunn going for more unique starting point rather than a conventional linear storyline, Gunn’s DCU started with many superheroes already existed and not focusing on origin but instead their character development and current conflicts. Kinda excited for this approach

Gonna be honest I don't think I like this story. Wanted to check it out since James Gunn is going to make the supergirl movie inspired by this comic. I can see how some elements would be good for a movie but to me this story overall was okay. If there are a lot of changes then tbh it could be good but idk about this one
You don't face the direction you row a boat, Kara had her back to Ruthee and the shore so if she were rowing how she's supposed to she would end up going towards them, not away. Unfortunately though the artist wanted to show how Supergirl is turning her back on the request so you end up with this panel that is supposed to be a serious moment and it just ends up looking silly if you think about it for more than two seconds.
Nah not my cup tea.
