    I made a lot of different armor patterns to help you all get started with cosplay. Since I made them all based on my own body though, they also only have my size which is EU/GER 38 or US 10. I know not everybody has the same measurements as I have, so here is a video explaining how you can easily change all of my patterns to make them fit to your own body!

    A detailed video on attachments would be handy for me - I'm always struggling to determine how to make attach to my body comfortably, and which method (zipper, d-ring, velcro, etc) to use to look and function the best.

    I just want to point out, for those who don’t know, that your off-the-rack clothing size and your sewing (or in this case, cosplay) size are NOT the same. Do not assume that if you usually buy US size 10 clothing, that you are a size 10 in a pattern. I buy size 10 (US) shirts and dresses, but I am usually a size 14 or 16 in sewing patterns. The key is to take your measurements with a measuring tape, and then see how they match up to the individual pattern sizing chart. Don’t assume it will be consistent across the board! This is a good tutorial, and it is exactly how I size up sewing patterns from time to time. May I request a similar tutorial for those who do not have “ideal” proportions? For example, my bust is usually a size or two smaller than my waist, and my waist is a size larger than my hips. This causes me to span three pattern sizes, and I cannot alter patterns by adding or subtracting an even amount to each piece. I know I’m not the only one with a body shaped like this! Although I personally know how to do such alterations, I’m sure there are those who would benefit from such a tutorial. And you do all of your videos so nicely! Love your upbeat attitude and humour!

    • @emilys4404
      @emilys4404 Před 4 lety +10

      Absolutely and to add onto this don’t assume your body is one pattern size. When I cut out commercial dress patterns my bust is one size and my hips are a completely different size.

    • @fatabelly
      @fatabelly Před 4 lety +2

      This is a really good point! Even as a man I've noticed how varied clothing sizes are from item to item and shop to shop. But clothing is made so cheaply these days, there's even a difference in sizes on the same item in the same shop! Lol.
      So definitely measure yourselves rather than go off clothing size numbers/letters.

    One way to do it is also to use Armorsmith - it's $30 American and really useful for seeing how your pieces fit on. It works for both 3D printing and Pepakura, and it's really helpful. I'm not advertising on its behalf; I'm just recommending a useful program for getting exact measurements and editing the patterns and models.
    This is a good tutorial, by the way. Nice job as per always. :)

    Good to know how simple this can be. I had a mandalorian inspired armor set I wanted to build, essentially just the torso armor with the lower half being a long tattered war-skirt thing, and it's good to know it wouldn't be that hard to scale up existing patterns for my broad-shouldered and beer-gutted self.

      Tatsächlich habe ich für bisherige Projekte normale Spachtelmasse genutzt, die ich vom renovieren noch daheim hatte. Bei kleineren Rüstungsteilen hat sich das ganze sehr bewährt, da es gut mit Wasser verstreichbar ist und nach dem Trocknen noch gut schleifbar ist. Sobald man das ganze dann mit Flexbond oder Plastidip grundiert hat sind alle Macken ideal geschlossen :) Und es ist günstig und in jedem Baumarkt zu kaufen!

    Can these patterns be used on cardboard? I know it won't look as good as EVA foam but I'm trying to work with what I have (and I'm on a very tight budget). I want to make the corset armour but I'm not sure if the bust cups would work with a more rigid material

    Hi Svetlana and Benni, just gotten through all of your videos. Loved all of them ❤️ just out of curiosity, do you guys have a PO box or separate address that we can send things to?

    Hello, I want to ask you, what the best type of foam, is best for a sword blade. I would also like to use sword to fight. So the sword would be exposed to hard work and hard or ''ragged'' manipulation.
    So I am looking for a foam that a lot lasts, and durable. Thank you.
    Have a nice day :)

    That old pvc foil you used for shadowmourne, do you have a link where we can get it?
