Dmitry Bivol - Is a Kyrgyz-born Russian professional boxer who has held the WBA light-heavyweight title since 2017. As an amateur, he won a gold medal at the 2013 World Combat Games in the 81 kg weight category. As of November 2021, Bivol is ranked as the world's second best active light-heavyweight by The Ring, the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and ESPN and third by BoxRec. His current professional record stands at 19-0 with 11 knockouts.

Bivol switches from offensive to defense so seamlessly. The moment his gloves make contact, he's either following it up with a combo or a half step back to invite his opponent in for a counter. I don't think people know how hard it is to make it look that easy.

Update: I would like to reiterate, I am a huge Canelo fan but the outcome shouldn't be surprising if you follow boxing. Canelo was simply going up in weight against a fighter who has the style that usually canelo has problems with , simple as that.

From what I see, he’s good at fighting fence post. Canelo is gonna make him punch air. I don’t see Bivol having any luck against Canelo. Good fundamentals but never fought anyone as elusive as canelo.

After fighting Bivol, Canelo would have fought 4 undefeated world champions ( Callum smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant, Bivol) in his last 6 fights. Love or hate him, you gotta respect that he’s fighting elite champions one after the other.
If the fight goes through at 175 with no bullshit rehydration clauses, then you HAVE to go Canelo his props. Fighting Bivol is more dangerous than Callum Smith, BJS, and Caleb Plant combined.

He does what he does cus he never fought a slick power puncher like Canelo. Once he feels Canelo's power, his movement will be different. He doesn't have that power to make Canelo cautious.
Naw it looks good from the highlights but you need to evaluate Bivol post the Pascal fight. Bivol's style has changed dramatically since the middle of the 10th round against Pascal, when Pascal realized too late that he can just walk Bivol down.
Since then, he boxes much more defensively. He's lost a lot of his killer instinct. This isn't to say that he isn't a dangerous fighter. But he's not a come forward fighter like you describe.

If you focus only on the upper body, the bivol may not look very active. But if you focus on his feet, you'll see that few players are active enough to bivol. Bouncing step from round 1 to round 12. His cardio and ability to control distance are insane.

Canelo’s most dangerous fight easily. Bivol in his absolute prime at 31 years old and Canelo also 31 years old. This is the fight I wanted to see out of all the options. The others are too green to be in the same ring as Canelo.

Beterbiev is the only possibility I would classify as better than this. Bivol is a technician but Beterbiev could actually hurt Canelo. Either way, no doubt this is an amazing, huge fight. My personal preference would've been for Beterbiev, but who's to say that won't come in the future? I can hope.

Ever since then I have watched this clip like 200 times without ever gettin tired. But back then I wanted to congratulate you for making such a great content and wanted to say that your video is gonna EXPLODE after Bivol is done with Canelo. but I refrained from saying so because of all these uncritical fanboying and swearing that takes place under many of the boxing forums and clips . Personally I don't think Golovkin, Canelo or anybody from the middleweights can hang with any of the light heavyweights and Bivol for that matter is skilled waaay beyond where most world class top ranked boxers are. Challenges are facing the people in your division that are a threat. The reason Canelo goes up is because it’s all reward. Losses when you go up in divisions aren’t looked at the same. Adesanya vs Jan is the best and most recent example.

Bivol is the best in the business at being very offensive while remaining defensively responsible. His hands are always in position to parry or block punches and his ability to reverse shuffle to maintain distance control is insane. Not to mention, he NEVER runs out of gas and can fight like that all night. I’ve been saying this for a few years now. Bivol’s style is all wrong for a guy like Canelo who likes to load up and throw one punch at a time.

I seen and felt he has excellent power, and I thought excellent control of distance, that spring in his step to close in or retreat is sweet and sharp... but I didn't realize how defensively effective and superior he could be. If we're talking about difficulty, no shot. He has faced Jose Cotto, Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan. Those are the ones I can name off the top of my head. Not to mention he fought most of those guys (arguably) at their prime. No disrespect to Bivol, because he seems very promising, but he only has 19 fights on his record. That lack of experience in comparison to Canelo could get to him on the big stage while facing one of boxing's current bests.
And if we're talking sales, then also no shot. His fight with mayweather is the 3rd highest grossing PPV fight of all time with 120m and the 1st GGG fight had 110m.

He his these type of fighters like Tommy Hearns who use the basic principles of boxing in a masterful way, keeping the distance, hitting in different angles, an excellent use of the lead hand, pivoting or side stepping when needed, only using these basic principles that make them world class fighters. Very elegant. When people who don't box watch these foighters, they always feel well, that's actually easy I could do that. Just like watching Hearns felt natural, genuinely simple, though he punch technique had the best form I've ever seen.
I dont know if he can beat Canelo, but I know for a fact he will be the toughest challenger Canelo has faced since Golovkin.

Bivol is a well rounded fighter with a lot of power behind his punches. Many of his opponents relied on covering up and still got battered. Canelo’s head movement and power will give him problems. Great matchup. Looking forward to watching this fight.

@@okacinilmaz floyd is the best of all time, and canelo wasnt in his rythm when he fought Lara. GGG fight on the other hand it was very close because GGG rarely gets hurt from shots, but Canelo still beat him.
