Slowing Your Horse Canter Down 🐎

  • Today's video is about working on our calmness in our our canter, as Solo gets a bit excited sometimes and runs off with me. To do this, I just let him canter underneath me, without being to worried about the quality or my position. When he was too fast I made him go in a circle (about 20 m) and let him gradually slow down and rewarded the slower canter with a walk break. This is an issue that has been improving with every ride, and is just a young/green horse thing. I hope you enjoyed this video, bye-bye!
    Also, note how gorgeous the sunset was that day!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Thank you, yes at the end he looked much better. At the first canter he was kind of ruining of with no so good frame. That’s why I kept working until he did good, as he knows 👍

      Thank you. With Solo I let him run until he slow down, and we start to work on a goo canter. Also, he does better in circles ~20m than in straight line. A lot of ground work and transitions wtc up and down 👍👍👍

      They are Dressage Ariat!!! No the cheapest ones, but very comfortable 😃😃😃

    Do have any tips for how to sit a canter and this is awesome, I might be cantering a pony with a fast canter so I need to know how to slow her a bit!

    • @LeoEquestrian
      @LeoEquestrian  Pƙed 2 lety +2

      I find that doing a circle and letting them do their thing during the circle and when they want to trot, just asking them to keep going works well. Normally Solo will give me a slower/nicer canter when I do that.
