I remember sharing the same studio apartment with my cousin when we just out of college. Ketchup on toast was all we could afford. we made it and thought we were richer than anyone just because we could live in an apartment without our parents. Who knew that was considered poor!! We laughed all the time. Walked to work. When we went back home we brought our laundry because at my parents house it didn't cost money to do laundry. I remember my dad leaving extra bottle of shampoo in the bathrrom. we used to take it home with us and were thrilled to have free sauve shampoo!!! Then when the 5 cent deposit cans were a new thing, we were the first to think of making money by collecting the cans! That was not what poor people did, it was what we did for a free bacon and egg breakfast out at a restaurant..... living it up at a restaurant ! We were young and having fun. ..laughing it up.... I wish you many adventures with a friend to figure out how you can make ends meet and big laughs along the way..... what about teaching a class for others? You are a treasure.

My grandmother had a big deep freeze in her cellar. She would put leftovers (vegtables mostly) into the freezer in a bowl. Once frozen it was put into a recycled bread bag & labeled. When company showed up unexpectedly -she would grab several bread bags & make soup! Always delicious 😋

But my down fall is I like bounty Paper towels!! And I have a 2 coffee mugs, 1 for coffee and the other water/soda!! And I have always had a bunch of different dry beans, and mix my own for soup!! And my garden is growing larger as I've learned to do canning!! And canning veggies and making jams!! But I need to slow down on the jams as there is only 2 of us and the friends I gave a some to don't give back the jars and rings and that is adding up fast now!! Stay safe, and thrifty!! Love it!!

And I actually have some vintage TV trays that we use on occasion and we would watch a TV show. I wish they would go back to those metal trays. I love them but everybody uses the microwave now. Great information. I'm at Walmart almost everyday and I only look at the price. I never looked to the right side to see how much each item comes out to. Thank you very much

I buy very little processed food. Mainly canned beans, olives, tuna and condiments. I make all my meals mainly from scratch. I calculated the 216 count bags and I got 7¢ a bag. My mom used to make fried onion sandwiches. She would fry the onion until soft and a bit brown. Then she toasted the bread, spread catsup and sweet pickle relish on it then added the fried onions. It tasted like a hamburger without the hamburger.

I'm 62, retired and happy. I'm learning so much from you. Before calculators, my Mom would take us to the store, give us pencils and paper and had us figuring unit cost pricing (didn't learn the name until much later). We learned at her side how to find a real bargain. My advice for the coming economic crisis is to pay off as much debt as you can -get debt free if possible. You'll be grateful later. Can't afford to "prep?" Easy- starting today, add 1 can/1 box/1 bag of shelf stable food to your grocery list. Keep this in the back of the pantry labeled with the date. Do this every grocery trip- the dates help you to use the oldest stuff while it's still good. Watch youtube about repacking things for long term storage. That'll give you a good start.

Me and my husband were talking this morning our mums never had a fridge we had a pantry with a slab of marble. That get butter cool and cheese . We didn’t do big shops my dad grew the veg in our garden we went rabbit hunting . We had cheap cuts of meat and fish on a Saturday. We never went hungry.

Hi Lindy, OMgosh! I thought my grandmother came up with the idea of using those aluminum TV dinner dishes for her leftovers. Ha! I loved going to the big chest freezer in the garage to pick out a foil covered tray with beige masking tape and hand written ingredient list on it. I don't know if you can still find them. I go to Dollar Store, not Dollar Family, to get a lot of basics that you don't need a ton of. Pickles, chips, soups, sauces, bread, butter...you can find for 1.25 (went up since covid that .25). Sam's Club is good if you can store bulk. Goodwill is also a great place to pick up cheap t shirts, shorts, blouses, silverware and plates and pans.. It all adds up to savings compared to "grocery" store prices.

At Thanksgiving mom and I would take some of the leftovers and make TV dinners. You could have a nice selection from the different things that were served. I know it sounds weird, but peanut butter and either sweet pickle or dill pickle make a good sandwich, The sweet, salty or sour salty make a good combo. You can also buy several different kinds of beans in the 1# bags and mix them in jars. It tends to be cheaper in the long run. I had leftover cooked broccoli the other day, so I cubed and cooked a potato, cooked a small amount of rice, saved some of the potato water and added more water, added thyme, garlic, and processed cheese, then chopped the broccoli fine and added it. Very good soup. Have a great day, Lindy. Hugs to Marley!✌🤟

Pickles are expensive now, the same with olives.
I buy 42 rools of toilet paper at Sam's Club for 22.98. You can't really do that living tiny but it saves a whole lot of money. I buy their paper towels and over the counter meds. We're an hour away now in NM from Sam's. I pay for the plus membership and non perishable items ship for free. That saves $. Then we go there for some food items, which are cheaper like unsweetened bottled tea, lamb loin chops enough for me & hubby for 2 meals (9.99), and I got a 12 oz pk of raspberries for 1.87. I buy their kielbasa, half & half & butter there as well because it's so much cheaper.

Example around 500 grams for block of butter is between 5 to 6 dollars. 1 kilo of chicken breast around 10 dollars kilo, thats the cheapest price in supermarkets. Has anyone else noticed how the mayo you get nowadays is no longer what we used to get which was 'thick n creamy'? Now it's been whipped so much it's light n airy n running once you take the air out when you spread it. It's the brand's way to make it look like you are getting the same amount when you are not. This was Hellman's. I also noticed this in Sam's nut butters like cashew butter. Once you stuck your knife in it it deflates. They not only upped the price but tricked us into thinking we were getting the same amount 😡

So what do you use to wipe yourself after going to the bathroom?

Why do you want to know such an intimate detail. Particularly on a public forum.

@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 I asked because you said in your video that you don’t buy toilet paper or anything paper except paper towels, so that’s why I ask.
Living in my van, I normally use toilet paper and since you don’t I’m wondering what else would you use?

@deedeeotero4475 DeeDee I told how in my previous video. Wipes they keep me cleaner than toilet paper and multi purpose. Toilet paper has only one purpose.

      @@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 wipes.. ok.
I would go broke if I used wipes since they cost more than the $1.25 Dollar Tree TP & since I’m pretty “regular” as they say..but different strokes.😂

@@deedeeotero4475 actually they r nit that expensive when you buy in bulk and at Walmart I will do a cost for you . When I used Dollar store toilet paper I went thru 2 -3 rolls a week. My wipes last a month. You're right though different strokes. We all do it our way.
