Never underestimate an old man in a profession where many die young.
True
To a human, everything can become a weapon. A fistful of mud, a tree, a rock, a river, a chair... Try coming between a mother and her child. The most frightening thing I've ever faced was a madwoman trying to keep me from protecting her children from her. I had no weapons. All I had was a lifetime of "escape and evade" from being bullied in school. The children are all 30 years older now, and she is in an urn. I still have scars...
You should read the story of the 77th Infantry division in WWII. They fought alongside the Marines in the Pacific, and they were so good that the Marines started calling them the 77th Marine division.
They were all older men in their 30's and up, and one of the units nicknames was, the old bastards.
Desmond Doss, the only medic in WWII to win the Medal of Honor was in that unit, so if you have ever seen the movie Hacksaw ridge, that was the 77th Infantry division.
Very true.
Youth & exuberance are no match for old age & treachery. Looking in the mud at what could be his kill weapon set his opponent up for the real kill shot with the helicopter blade.
Kurt Russell was 47 years old when he filmed this. He physically trained 18 months for this movie. Arguably, his best played role. I remember getting chills during the scene where he stands between Jason Lee's character and the refugees he's protecting, and shakes his head, "No."
I like this film an Kurt Russell in general. Many said the film was bad because he doesn't speak at all...but paradoxally, all is in his eyes (look when he kills Caine), and it's one of the best moment when he shakes his head, *saying* "oh, don't even think about it...".
my oldest dude had 62 age ;)
Kurt Russell back then was buffed in this movie..he gained muscle mass for this movie
He spoke about it on a talk-show … said it was the hardest thing he’d ever done - I think he should have got the Academy Award.
I cant believe this movie got negative reviews, one of the best I've seen.
Soldiers deserve soldiers. That line always got me. Honor above all else.
Kurt was jacked, damn good movie that nobody saw...except the fortunate.
Lots of people saw this movie I saw it and f****** theaters
One of my top favorite movies, get the popcorn
My whole family saw it on a Sunday afternoon movie outing in the theaters.
Trained his ass off for over a year.
Old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance. I love this movie and how Kurt completely out classes them buy using his experience.
beautiful....old age and treachery
@@jamesmcnamara1099yeah 47 isn't old age dumbass maybe 97
There is also historical precedent, just learn about the Army’s 77th division, they were also known as The Old Bastards.
Experience and cunning. And raw determination

Phenominal fight scene. Very underrated movie.
Very underrated movie. It's in my top 10 movies of all time
I love dis movie..
We need more great fights in future movies. Epic violence never gets old or outdated. Long live cool now and forever amen.
Haha when first saw it I was just waiting for Jason Scott Lee to let out a Bruce Lee scream haha
@Ralph Reilly ok Ralphy mate whatever....
Old soldier being pushed aside by the chain of command. How art imitates life.
Don't fuck with a Soldier that survived the Battle of Tennhauser Gate!😁☠️💪
Don't fuck with a men, that grew old on a job,on which people mostly die young.
Hell yeah
I wonder if he saw "attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion"?
@@3rdEyeWide So glad this was mentioned. The fact it ties in with Blade Runner and by extension Alien, makes this so very cool. And yes, he did fight off the Should of Orion. Says so in his service record about 6 minutes into the movie :D
@@3rdEyeWidehe was probably the reason why they were on fire 🔥
I like how Kurt gently lowers his head to the ground after killing him. No hate in the battle, almost a mutual respect between opposing warriors.
What a career Kurt Russell has had! From being a child star to badass to comedian with believability every time.
Best of Times. Watch it. Great role for Russell.
Plus he's not a crazy Hollywood liberal and he's one of a handful of actors I really respect.
@@MG-fl5wkPersonal I Like Escape from LA,Especially the part After the Helicopter crash, where He shuts down the Whole World
Don't forget he was a baseball player too.
Love how when Cane (Jason) looked at Sandra and the kids and then looked back at Todd (Kurt) he shook his head as if to say "this is between us, don't even think about them. "
Soldier will ALWAYS be in my top 10 action /military type flicks!
I've seen it so many times & would still watch it ever so often.
Kurt Russell at his BEST!! 🤩🤩🤩
What I like is Todd wasn't juiced, Cane was. Todd still beat him. Fantastic movie.
One of the best fight scenes ever. Kurt was exceptional in this scene.
Indeed
Such a badass move outsmarting him by diverting his expectations.
Cain: ohhhhh, think you're gonna get that knife, huh? MINE!
Todd: ha! You fell for the oldest trick in the book!
*Slices Cain's gut open*
@@jeremyallen5974 indeed 😎
Agreed. I'm glad they had him outsmart his opponent who was designed to be physically better than him in every way, but lacks the experience he had. He's deadly efficient but his one-track mind was his downfall.
This is still one of my all time favorite movies to this day. Kurt Russell and Jason Scott Lee were so METAL 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Indeed, epic movie
Soldiers deserve soldiers sir.
Kurt's masterpiece! I'll adore this role to the day my breath goes away.
Me too! I love this movie, and most people don't know it
what gets me......you can see at the end, when Todd breaks Cane's neck..............the look in Todd's face....he is sad of what he is going to do.....
Yeah, after he kills him he gently and respectfully lowers him to the ground. To Todd he was a worthy opponent and fellow soldier who was just following orders, like Todd had so many times before.
It's not sadness. Like Todd told the woman, I can't remember her name, he said soldiers deserve soldiers. It was respect for the fighting ability of his enemy. It is an understanding that today we face each other on the field of battle, but tomorrow we toast each other in the Halls of Valhalla. Warriors do not mourn their enemy, but they can and often do have a respect for a worthy opponent.
Like Way of the Dragon.
@@chrismiranda2051 Considering that Caine was going to kill untrained women and children had Todd not stopped him, I would say Caine deserved death regardless of who delivered it and how humiliating it was if it came at the hands of non-soldiers. He forfeited any claim that he might have on an honorable death. Todd showed him more respect than he would have received if the fight had gone the other way.
@@gawthic1 I agree that Caine deserved to die. What I said still stands. Todd's reaction after killing Caine was respect for a fellow warrior.
Kurt Russell would've been the best live action Doomguy
*Master Chief.
Holy shit you’re right
Or Duke nukem
No he is right Doom Guy becose Doom Guy never speaks or speaks very rare, Duke Nukem speak a lot same like master chief.@@troymcclure681
love that slight glance kurt does looking at the weapon on the ground. completely out smarts him thinking he was going for that.nope you got played lol
And it's even better that the helicopter blade comes from Cain's blind side!
"Maybe they should've made them smart instead of fast."
@@michaelmartin4874 Smart means a mind of their own, which clearly is not what these future militaries want in their soldiers.
@@LucianDevine I know. That's why the military prefers 17 to 20 year olds.Olds. I was merely quoting Gary Busey.
This was one of my favorite sci-fi action flicks as kid but as an adult I actually kinda pity both of these characters because neither one of them asked to become the killing machines they are, that choice was taken from them both before they could even begin to live their lives and then forced to fight each other to the death
An underrated epic movie. A masterpiece
Kurt Russell has a lifetime of acting experience, from Gilligan to Marvel
And he's one of the very few who can say he's done it all
All starting with the Mickey Mouse Club I do believe.
Don't forget Captain Ron
The way he gently laid his opponent’s head in the water, professional.
If I didn't think they'd completely screw it up I'd ask for a sequel.
I agree.
He’s probably one of the last real action figures that is larger than life a great actor and even better as he ages great performances
*Experience Wins Out Over Talent*
Heh, if anything it just points out that you must train soldiers to be sharp and capable of thinking instead of just being machines.
Well. Experience as well as awareness along with intelligence. Kurt Russell's character "Todd" in the film.. Besides having more experience. Also has more awareness of his surroundings as well as being smart enough to trick his opponent. His opponent on the other hand.. Lacked both by quite a bit during the whole movie... And the statement about talent.. Of course I am assuming you mean raw talent.. Was more about the biologic modifications used in the creation of the soldiers like Jason Lee's character "Cane".
I am by no means disagreeing with the statement you made. As it is true. It is just the fact that in this specific case "Cane" was more about a soldier with less experience but a much higher starting point physically vs a soldier with a LOT of experience. Both had a talent for combat. Its something that people can easily overlook since they semi gloss over what these soldiers would go through when growing up and the brutal way failures where dealt with.
The ultimate lesson of this battle is deception. The final and absolute lesson of war. Sun Tzu realized it, as well as Machiavelli. War is about deployment of force in the most effective manner. If you can get your enemy to expend themselves uselessly on a target of endeavor that not only expends themselves, but also gives you a strategic advantage, then you have begun to master the true art of war.
@@TheGoodDocter1972 I always found Sun Tzu's book a bit funny. Most of it should be common sense when it comes to war and tactics.. But I admit I keep forgetting that the vast majority of people lack common sense in just about every possible way... Sadly.
the sad part is none of the soldiers (old birds and new modified ones) are "evil". they are all just doing what they are brainwashed and trained to do, following orders that don't benefit them. Tragic
@Cenestpasmapersonnalité the way he puts his opponent (Caine) down gently is a form of respect. Because he knows Caine is also a tragic combatant, just following orders, not evil at all.
And the left is even more brainwashed then this and they dint realize it and think they know everything how very sad
No different from the real soldiers that we have today…young man following orders from old politicians. And they died, crippled, PTSD…
Yup, and Todd makes sure that Sandra understands that. "They're soldiers, sir. They're obeying orders, sir. It's their duty."
They aren't really brainwashed. They just don't know any better. Todd was "brainwashed" until he was an older veteran and was exposed to civilians. Following orders doesn't mean you're brainwashed. The younger soldiers can only benefit by following orders, because they have no experience to draw on to make their own decisions.
sgt todd is the Rambo of his universe
Jason Scott was a Beast in this one.
Saw this in theaters when it came out and a bit of trivia to add I have not seen mentioned yet was this movie directly ties in with blade runner as well and the commentary DVD explains it also. The tattoos on his shoulder are explained by Mace to his wife. The battle of tannhauser gate was also one of the fights Roy was talking about at the end before he died. This also means the Alien series also has a tie in since it was made relevant in one of the movies. I can see brainstorming to put all three together for one hell of a good movie
Don't forget the shoulder of orion too, Roy says in his speech he sees 'attack ships on fire off the shoulder of orion'
I think that the Nibian Moon campaign is also a tie in with Star Trek, although I might be wrong
Ok. I'll watch it again. This time as an adult.
Kurt Russell is a American icon.true American..proud of him.
Nice, love the terminator theme with this scene!
T2 score worked pretty well too. :)
One of my favorite scenes in this movie which also includes soldier up the chain!
I almost forgot this epic film. Miss those days.
Judul film
Loved this movie, I’ve seen it so many times.
Nice 1 Tony very underrated movie. Kurt Russel in an unusual role but he pulls it off 😘
Kurt Russell once said in an interview that he had at most 40-50 words of lines in this movie. He had to sell the entire movie on body language and facial expressions.
IMHO, he succeeded brilliantly.
I agree this was an underrated movie, but this is pretty typical 80's 90's Kurt my man.
He said "It's all in the reflexes", with his eyes.
After Stargate this was the second performance I saw him in the third being The Thing. Kurt Russel was a beast of a performer, hes more refined and relaxed nowadays but damn he could deliver a summer blockbuster, every time. More over, he was considered for Han Solo at one time, so that's just unimaginable talent right there.
Amazing thanks Tony for reaploding this fight scene 👊🏼👊🏼💪🏽
Thanks for watching mate.
We need a reboot....but nobody can play soldier like Kurt.
Agreed
Why do we need a reboot? That would be stupid.
Why a reboot , can't people come up with original movies anymore
Nah no reboot.
No need for a reboot, since it is part of the Blade Runner verse, they can always add a sequel to it or finally incorporate Kurt Russel's character in future Blade Runner movies if any
Love the exchange at 2:29
Damn....felt this one. 👊👊👊👊
Old but not obsolete!!
I love the head shake he gives jason scott lee when the confrontation starts.
This movie is the best movie film I watched ever .. This movie talked about passion.... pain ... honer... respect.. powerful..... and revenge.... the superstar legend actor Kurt rasell ... played this amazing character very very very .excellent.. no talk .no pain . no surrender..and .. give up.. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
May not be the best i watched but come on it is too much underrated. I actually love Kurt Russel maintaning no face movement even when getting hit. And the lines, damn
100% no face movement never until the pain get the top ... yes your talk is right this movie is very underrated... why i don't know my be because its to old .But honestly this film is a very good film I watched ever....
This move was absolutely freaking “Awesome as hell”! Nothing even close today!
I need to rewatch this movie!
You do that my friend, awesome film
My favorite movie. Dave is great. Firefly. Watch all many times
Yes, these movies were the real deal
What an unexpectedly good movie.
This fight i still love!!!
Thank you!!!❤❤❤❤❤
He's quiet through most of the movie but when he starts talking there is no doubt whatsoever he knows what he's talking about. Sir.
Loved this movie, because it was so different than anything else Kurt had done
Criminally underrated movie.
Jason Scott Lee pulling off a few moves he learned from "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story".
I liked this movie myself and for russel to get in the shape he did for the movie at that age is pretty impesive as well
He's a great underrated actor this & tombstone were amazing movies
Absolutely
Loved this movie. It was awesome.
Man took so long, finally I found this, I was a kid watching that "A man who eats a lot, and fight vs Blind man", always I had about it
Great fight, and not a single word said during the whole thing!
I loved this movie Kurt Russell always delivers
Admirable movie....
Badass hero.....
10 outta 10 Kurt....!!....wowwee
Amazing
Kick ASS fight scene!
To give you guys a little bit of idea about these two different soldiers: Caine's kind were like the new breed of soldiers, they're stronger, more talented and more advanced in combat but lacks experience when it comes to the field. Their combat experience is only through trainings so basically this was their first field assignment. While Todd's kind were "the oldies" but wiser and more experienced. And that's why Todd outsmarted them and was able to defeat all 17 plus soldiers of Cain's kind including Cain himself.
Thx for info
I really liked this movie!
Awesome
Keep it up mate!! Still waiting on the other MCU Netflix fights and can you upload fight scenes from Teen Wolf? Pls?
If only we had him play the Masterchief
That's actually an awesome idea, he would do great as masterchief
Good fight, surprised I haven’t seen it before.
Excellent movie
ITS SOOOOOO MUCH LIKE THE CYBORG WITH VAM DAMME. THANKS FROM BRAZIL.
The scene where Kurt shakes the rain off his brow like a bulldog put a wide grin on my face!
That's absolutely the same depiction I've got when I saw that. When I was a kid I thought it was so badass... Even now I think it is.
I was like 10 when I first saw Soldier, man this brings back seemingly ancient memories
Es una pelicula espectacular, no me canso de verla. No se necesitan palabras para comunicar sentimientos.
You are the man!!!!!!
Очень жаль что в свое время этот фильм оказался провальным, по мне очень классный и интересный боевик, особенно финальный бой Тодда с Кейном.
When he snapped his arm.....yeah I felt that
Best actor ever!!
DAMN!
Strength vs wisdom Good stuff
This Kurt Russell was the closest to Streetfighter GUILE
One of his best movies
He saw C Beams firing off the belt of Orion
Such an underrated movie!
Very underrated action movie, Kurt Russell my favourite actor, an was in great shape filming this movie, made the character believable, it's a really good action movie, one of my favourites, how about soldier v Rambo, now there's an Idea 👍
This particular scene depicting Todd and Adam showcases the first time either of them show any emotion
Adam, full of revenge for the deaths of his brothers and rage against Todd for killing them, then has a passing thought of whether he should kill the rest of the civilians after he's finished with Todd
Todd, is actually getting frustrated with this supposed replacement not dying, and decided to make sure he's dead for sure this time before putting the fear of God in the commander's soul
But they still had to obey the rules of war, because that's all they know
Experience beats Youth every time something I didn’t get that my pops would tell me time and time again until I got older
Damned fine movie. Shame it never got a cinema release here
Hidden content 72 days love awarded movie scene
He's a great underr
"I'm going to kill them all, sir"...
My favorite movie line...EVER
That line is pure gold
They tried to make a super soldier. But Todd had will and ability to learn.
The kirk’s double-punch….. unbelievable….
Did anyone else notice how at the end of final fight there was reused music from Terminator 2?
one of Russells best movies, very under rated
