  • ( duckco.com/tfl-store ) Check out TFL's new apparel store now! The 2020 Chevy Blazer RS is the sportiest and sharpest looking of the new generation, and it's a good crossover. However, there's still the matter of its family tree to consider, and if you were expecting it to be that Blazer, you're looking in a different league.

The only reason they're using the Blazer name is to drum up sales with nostalgic people. It has literally nothing to do with the original Blazer. They should have just called it the Lazer. I like that name better for it.

The K5 Blazer didn't even go anywhere really, it became the Tahoe.
When I was growing up, the only thing in production being called a Blazer were rounded S10 derived versions, so I really don't mind the naming for this thing that much.
And at sea level, there isn't much of a performance difference between this and an ST at all, due to the ST's weight. If I had to chop this class, I'd probably get one of these, more modestly optioned though.
Definitely pricey when you throw all the options at it, good thing you don't have to do that. Problem is, these things are selling like hotcakes, so GM isn't likely to do much with its pricing strategy.

If I were in the market for a CUV (I am not!) it would have to be for one that gives me the most for the least amount of money. At $52,000, that would open me up to a top of the line Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Toyota Highlander, Subaru Ascent, Ford Explorer (though with no optional equipment), and even Chevy's own Traverse. But that's not the real issue here.
The real issue is, this vehicle (and especially at its price points) has to be everything that most people want. Granted, it's sales dictate that a lot of people like it, but with a proper Ford Bronco coming, not to mention that an all-new Ford Edge is due soon, and both of them offering much more, I don't see the "B-Laser" being a hit for very long. And this vehicle never says "Camaro" to me; more like "Malibu", "Equinox", "Cruze", or even "Old Jeep Cherokee". As Honda used the Pilot to make the Passport, Chevy did same with the Traverse to make the Blazer. In all honesty, I would take the Passport over the Blazer any day, even with the RS trim.

Sadly, who is going to buy the $40k crossover when you can’t tell it from its $25k little brother? I feel like GM missed the Mark so far with the Blazer that this a sign they may not survive post-pandemic.

All the vehicles you mentioned that compete with the B-Lazy are a much better value (well, maybe not Murano). The base price for this heap is $30k, which includes an anemic 195hp 4cylinder and bare bones features. For another 2 grand you can buy a base Honda Pilot with a 3.5V6 with loads of standard features and quality everything. Or for the same price you can get a Durango with a true truck frame, rear wheel drive, a 100 more horsepower and loads more room. Seriously, Andre, this Chevy is one fancy-looking waste of money.

They should have made it compete with the Audi S Q5 at the price of the RS. They should of put in the v8 455 hp. Or a twin turbo v6 400hp and make it awd. Because they came out the box half stepping no one is looking at this car anymore. Everyone moved to the Branco.

    • @marcusablpn

jts0099 well I’m not even saying rear wheel drive. I want them to go further and make it Awd some of the models are already AWD. Chevy put v8’s in front wheel drive cars in the 2000’s so it wouldn’t be that crazy of an idea.

Chevy hit it right on the street good motor ok mpg for a big package, but a Blazer that is like last in its class offroad and less towing than the S10 Blazer bad. It is just a family Camero and where is the SS, and 50000 is a lot of money because for 60000 you can get a Stingray Corvette. The bottom line a family car with a little sportiness, Chevy you are full of family vehicles, can you not give a least one offroad two-door vehicle, you have everything else.
