The Devilstone Run: A Motorcycle Ride and Camping Trip Across Wyoming

For Four Days and Three Nights, I set out across Wyoming on the DevilStone Run - A Motorcycle Ride that Goes from Devils Tower to Yellowstone National Park (and beyond) through Wyoming’s Scenic Byways and Small Towns.
Day One:
- Devil’s Tower: Known as a sacred place by Northern Plains Indians, the Devils Tower is a large geologic feature that can be seen from miles away in eastern Wyoming.
- Spotted Horse: With a population of 2, the Spotted Horse community is simply a good ol country bar in the middle of nowhere. Although we didn’t eat here, they’re known to have good burgers.
- Sheridan: For the night, we’ll be staying in the hometown of the Go Fast Don’t Die crew and enjoying shenanigans right in front of their shop.
Day Two:
- Big Horn Scenic Byway: From Sheridan, we’ll take the 58-mile paved Big Horn Scenic Byway over the Big Horn Mountain Range, and into the basin. This byway provides endless scenic views and is one of my favorite motorcycle rides in Wyoming.
- Shell Store: The Shell Store in Shell, Wyoming is a popular motorcycle destination for burgers and freshly made desserts
- Cody, Wyoming: A Gateway town to Yellowstone National Park, Cody has plenty to see and do. We’ll be motorcycle camping and heading into town to check out the Silver Dollar Bar for the night.
Day Three:
- The Irma Restaurant: The Historic Irma Hotel & Restaurant is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the breakfast partner on the run for this year.
- Buffalo Bill Dam and Reservoir: On the way out of town we’ll stop at the Buffalo Bill Dam, which was once the highest dam in the world
- Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway links the town of Cody to the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, where we will take a ride around Lake Yellowstone and head South for the Tetons.
- Moran, Wyoming: After enjoying views of the Tetons, we head out to Moran, Wyoming and the Heart Six Ranch for the evening. We’ll be dispersed motorcycle camping in the National Forest.
Day Four:
- In the morning, our group heads out and parts ways to head home. I’ll be enjoying a dip in Jenny Lake at Grand Teton National Park before heading off on my next adventure.

Great video!! 22 years ago in the summer of '00, I rode my bicycle across the country from Seattle to Washington, DC. I have pictures of me standing at the Spotted Horse horse. Sheridan and Gillette were such great towns, too! We stayed a night in each. Also, Sheridan to Gillette was the longest day of our 48-day trip at 116 miles. It was a tough one, too! Thanks for the excellent content, and resurfacing some fantastic memories! Cheers!

We have that same Big Boy/Shoneys statue here in my hometown of Charleston, WV. Marks the first one ever built in1947. Was originally a drive in restaurant.

I have always wanted to get back to Wyoming I spent a week once working in Cody.
It was a icy snowy mess for most of but those last 2 days it was so beautiful I have always wanted to return.

We left the Sturgis rally on a Tuesday in 2020 and rode to Cody then rode Yellowstone on Wednesday and back to Sturgis on Friday. Your video took me straight back to that trip and how amazing it was. Thanks for the video

Beautiful landscapes, I really like the blue water of the dam. I am in Mexico just south of Texas and sometime will do this trip. I like the north of the USA but it is too far from Laredo, too many days off work.

Please understand, I'm 61 years old, and currently recuperating from a total right hip replacement performed back in May 2022. This Summer has been bike-free all year. :( However, by Spring I will be back in the saddle. I live in Central Arkansas and really loved all of your Arkansas ride videos. Thanks so much to you I now have an Arkansas Motorcycle Travel Guide! However, this scenery you are shooting such as this video is truly breath taking! Thank you again for sharing this video. It really helps some of us get through a bike-free Summer. Yesterday, I spent several hours washing and polishing my 1994 Heritage Softail. Like me she is old, but has been with me so long, since new in 1994, I can't separate from her. She has been a good bike. I wish you only good fortune, good health and peace throughout your travels.
