As a person that has nothing to do with heavy equipment, that was a thing of beauty. Add a step by step audio and it could be marketed as a training video. Very cool.
Hi vantagetes, Wow, that is one hell of a trailer. And it is not until you see these huge earth mover on normal roads the size can be judged. On site everything is huge. And on site a Cat will push 3-4 of these giants! Take care and thank you for uploading. mrbluenun
really good lowbed video. Really enjoy these, have a lot of experience on papas lowbed, if you`re good on Mechanical detach necks, then the rest is details. Haul more payload than a hydraulic neck too. You guys dont have BC Ferries out there lucky you. when tide changes happen thats when hydrualic necks pay off. a hydraulic neck will pick up to desired height and drive on. Mechanical , you are parked until tide change. It`s all trade offs.
@muckrunner308 In Australia the trailers are a completely different design because the laws and regulation regarding transportation and heavy haul are not the same.
Those men work as a well oiled machine. Good work on the video camera too.. Anyone can see this is not their first time rigging or the driver doing the breakdown and re-hook.
@vantagetes I agree with you and I will thumbs-up that comment. Another buddy of mine is Royalhighlander, now hes got some good Mammoet gas compressor hauling videos in Nisku, THAT IS TRUCKING, lol However short of Hinton, Edson, RockyMtnHouse, etc etc etc its all flatland in Alberta, not like BC, flat ground is exponentially easier trucking situation. Not taking away one bit what you said though. I agree
Thanks for this video! Very in detail and visually! Certainly, as already here wrote, it would be desirable to see from the beginning and up to the end this process with a heavy excavator.
@gangesexcavating More an observation on how the government works. Other provinces like to bury things in red tape vs Alberta recongnies where its money comes from and seems to factor that into their rule making process...
Whoa.. Not being a smart-ass, but why a manual detach on a monster like that? What am I missing.. also whats the well length on that trailer? I'm guessing 35 feet? Nice job.. We haul 657's in two pieces around my neck of the woods..
How in the hell did you come close to getting a 657 scraper legal on a 2+2+2. I have 11, 12 and 13 axles trailers and only the 13 axle can legal a 657 and we get 70 a tridem.
@vantagetes ehhhh, yes and no, theres a bit of chest thumping in that statement there Jason, but I wont argue, as I am guilty of that myself. You should see the equipment used in the coastal logging on Vancouver Island where I live. Moving a 7280C Cypress grapple yarder on a 250 ton 16 wheel tandem axle lowbed with 3 Pacific off highway trucks, --does that qualify for getting shit done -
@DL55driver How the roads are setup has a lot to do with it too, the government dictates how tight the turn radius in roads are which in turn changes how the trailers are setup. These rigs are great for cities and some of the longer similar setups use a type of hydraulic assist rear steering. The rear of the trailer follows the same line as the rear tractor tires!!!

Very cool.
That regular old king pin and shank with all the extra weight reminds you of how strong metal is.
That was the coolest thing i have seen yet for semi trailers!
I love it, man! This is the exact kind of thing I wish I could see in person, and with my favorite piece of heavy equipment too, 657 Scraper.
Awesome footage!!!
Those lowbed guys were smooth as silk. Really worked well together. Seemed awkward they were doing all the work while you stood there and taped it...
Great vid!! Excellent detail too. Lots of work to get that big CAT iron from job to job huh!
This should be an Ad for Aspen trailers.
Awsome job filming that.....they make it look easy. You can sure tell they've done that a time or two.
The great take over from over. I was surprised.
Great
A very impressive way to carry one of the most important earth moving machines, very clever.
i've never had to mess with a mechanical neck trailer. now i feel fortunate. but still freakin awesome
That sure seems complicated to me, but I guess your transport regulations and axle weight laws make it all necessary.
Great video, and thanks for posting it.
Looks like we get away with an easier time over here in Australia. That thing must be expensive.
Great job with the camera angles to show how it works.
Keep up the good work guys
Almost like it was choreographed. I'm sure it doesn't always go this well though. Well done.

awesome vid! yea need a 385 loading vid! :) haha
Beautiful! What is the cost in one of these moves?

for that trailer to split it, is it always a must to use the winch or can you take it apart without the use of one?
Nice, thanks!
FYI BC does recognize wheelers in the peace country, Ft St John, Nelson, etc.
Awesome....Do you guys also use Jeep dollys?

Check those gladhand rubbers and moisten/lube them before rebooking them.

Jezz That cant be a cheap float move!!!! I would love to see a 385 move maybe someday!
We had a 800c moved cost just over 1000$ a kilometer. Was around 100 tires and push pull.

Do you think you'll be able to make a video of when you guys lowbed a big excavator like a 385 or 850?
Cool
Well done Men...

@FiggeG 80 tons.

do a 740 cold start please
Go bankrupt putting fresh skins on tht trailer.
Charge lots when it gets used
Doesn't look like the first time for either of those guys.

What a great big waste of time, in Australia we just lower the ramps on the back and drive up,
Well lets just say you start on the outside...
Needs some grease sounds like
whats the point of have a witch from the truck go on the trailer
brandon hersey becuase its not a hydraulic detachable neck, mechanical
@gangesexcavating BC has lot's of retarded rules, part of the reason why I don't live or work there. Alberta is all about GETTING SHIT DONE.
But i know what your sayin.
Be a nightmare in nyc
not to be that guy but thats only a 40 wheeler not a 48. 16 16 and 8. if it was a 48 the trailer would be a tridem 24 set up
I see 6 sets of 8. That's 48
@@CAT972 i didnt realize that was a 32 wheel dolly at the back. Figured it was just an 8 wheel booster
Hhdd af
