Ive just started surfing where everyone is portrayed as chill and mellow and their seems to be a lot of aggression. Whereas I’ve been doing martial arts for 35 years and have fought hundreds (maybe thousands) of people and never got into an altercation. 😆
I remember surfing at baby Padang because I’m not a great surfer (😔). I was dropped by a tourist girl who was also dropped by a local, and I basically surfed over the top of both of them. The locals board was dinged up. He then started swearing uncontrollably at the girl….and he was in the middle of teaching a surf lesson 😐
To be fair, if I lived in a place and everyone came to surf it I’d be a bit irritated and not want more to keep coming and make the issue worse. I used to hate all localism, but reflecting a bit on it, there are some good reasons. Same is true when rich people ruin areas by crushing the local scene and putting McMansions everywhere ruining the culture (Hawaii?). Is there a way to keep a spot from getting ruined like Malibu without some aggressive tactics like this? I don’t know. These tactics do work , a few spots in San Diego are regulated this way and it does work. You’ve got to earn your spot there over time and respect from the locals. This prevents kooks from ruining it or good surfers coming in and dominating , they don’t really care if you’re good or not. I’ve heard Hawaii does this in a lot of spots. A lot of local pros on CZcams talk about it and why it’s needed. Is Bali different ?
To be fair it look like there are a lot of kooks at that spot and the guy probably did it by accident. For a few frames you can see the guy on the next wave gets snaked as well.
If local its his home. You’re a visitor. I always respect the locals. Yes there’s surf etiquette but grabbing all the waves as a visitor in Hawaii doesn’t fly. While this video isn’t in Hawaii don’t expect that you’ll be treated differently just because you’re a tourist. Give respect, say hello, be gracious and they will give respect.

Would rather fall on the owner. Board has no fault, also you risk to injury yourself way more considering how hard are boards these days.
Stomp stomp!
Naaah that's not a board flick. A real board flick is where a local uses his feet to send his board like a spear straight at your face, completely in the air. I saw it happen in West Australia and the guy was saved by the legrope at full extension, with board tip only inches from his face. Naasty
Do that crazy sh*t in America and there's a chance person will probably be waiting for you when you paddle in with a gun handy.
Sometimes people paddle straight to the inside ahead of other people and don’t even realise that what they are doing isn’t right and don’t twig when they get dropped in on.gotta give waves to get waves too
That’s when you throw the flying elbow straight through his board
Not if you ever wanna surf Bali again.
Omg she’s so pretty ❤
This is fine if they sorry right after if they don’t that’s what pisses people off
The local “if I can’t have it, nobody can have it” kook….
Disrespectful or lack of knowledge. Keep doing what you are doing 💪
Surfers be like “why you a Karen?” Then on the ocean they become “salty Karen on a rag”
Nothing but love.
Chuck Norris wouldn't put up with that
Ive just started surfing where everyone is portrayed as chill and mellow and their seems to be a lot of aggression.
Whereas I’ve been doing martial arts for 35 years and have fought hundreds (maybe thousands) of people and never got into an altercation. 😆
Ok, you're badass!😎
Yep been there nearly got speared in the back of the head by a local on purpose St Ives Cornwall ended up in a fist fight in the line up 😂
Some of the loacs are kooks in Bali fr but most are purely awesome people.
Padangpadang by any chance??
I've seen blood drawn at that break.
He’s not s local. He’s Russian . That explains a lot
Are you sure it wasn't just an accident?
It was too good of a thing for too long... Nothing lasts forever Bob!
To be fair it look like there are a lot of kooks at that spot and the guy probably did it by accident. For a few frames you can see the guy on the next wave gets snaked as well.
that's when the jimmy supper fly snooka comes out. it's a board breaker.
Kale should of shown him your king fu panda moves
i woulda jumped onto his back & held on like a boa constrictor!!
Tip: No mattah where ya at Braddah… kook shoots and you cannonball right onto their board. Day over… get ya wave back. 🤙🏽
Looks like a "someone hurt my feelings" more than anything else
If local its his home. You’re a visitor. I always respect the locals. Yes there’s surf etiquette but grabbing all the waves as a visitor in Hawaii doesn’t fly. While this video isn’t in Hawaii don’t expect that you’ll be treated differently just because you’re a tourist. Give respect, say hello, be gracious and they will give respect.
That was a blatant drop in. They need to respect people's safety too. He was on the inside, and that "local" is a complete kook.
