Are Hood Pins Necessary??? Civic Hatchback

So on todays episode I try to install some Hood Pins on the EG Hatch from Oriley's Auto Parts. You won't believe why they were necessary in the first place....

Happens with fiber hoods too. The're too light.
Latch problems are common also.

@2Drezik Yeah ive read that too… im not a huge fan of the hood pins but i cant really trust the latch anymore..😔

I seen a 2005 4 door Civic with the same problem. His hood was damaged and he had hood pins like you. Sounds like you bottomed out and bent the frame with the latch, and it popped off; because the latch isn't lined up with the hood. Frame damage!

@sleepwalker29 haha yeahh you might be right tbh.😅 i have changed that latch before thooo so, maybe i just didnt line it up right.. BUT it is also salvage title soooo it could have some minor frame damage but i havent checked the front that closely… as long as it drives thoo its koo👍😂

Did you get the hood pins from the O'Reilly store or you had to order them

@kevinmoney4847 Straight from O’Rileys brother… and lemme tell you they did not age well lol they got a lil bit of rust on em now..😅

Atleast the hood being weaker allowed your windshield and roof to stay in good shape. Have has a few buddies be not as lucky in the same sort of situation.

Yeahhh that would’ve really sucked! I did get kinda lucky….as far as hoods coming off goes 😅 in the right light the silver color kinda hides some of the dents now too lmao
