they just dont do it like this anymore. but things change and we record the time, style and vibe from that period and move on to the next. its up to a certain few to keep it alive. just minus the mullets haha. this is pure awesomeness!!!!!!! :]
I think this is so cool a vroup that sings and makes music without music insturments Like ok musical insturments are great but to make tge music with voice I mean that is just beyond cool
Classy! talented, and superb! I enjoy anything Spike Lee does! My favorite has the words "Back to back and belly to belly I don't give a damn 'cause I'm stone-ed already!
every time the first soloist does a run a puppy dies. what makes people ruin great music in that fashion i'll never know. you are not adding to the work as an artist, you're only subtracting. not only is a run ornament not called for, these are particularly bad. learn to sustain a note then maybe you don't have to cheat the work by not sticking to the melody with such failure. the rest of it is solid. just remember, this isn't 90s RnB...leave After 7 to After 7 and the Drifters to the Drifters.
Culture hater. Let folks enjoy what they enjoy. Besides, R&B and Hip Hop has musically dominated/influenced the whole world because of ornamentation and syncopation. Long notes played out back in the 1890's. ( shout out to the late Whitney Houston's rendition of the national anthem of the United States!)
@@esobed1 don't make me laugh. Whitney was a transcendent, generational artist with clean and perfect runs you could take dictation on. this is lazy singing because they have no air support. this has NOTHING to do with culture. listen to Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin. if you can't do it as well as them, then be quiet. You're free to enjoy trash if you want to. This is why music in such bad shape now. because people like you have grown complacent with mediocrity.
Still one of my favorite renditions. Loved that whole show!
I remember when this originally aired. The show included Take 6.
I absolutley love this. 2 groups singing the same song. You don't see this too often.
I listened to this 100 times as I taped it in late 91/early 92. I preferred Rockapella because of my "Carmen Sandiego bias" :) lol
This is my fav version of this song! Both groups r awesome!
Now there are two magnificent bass singers
Agreed...those two stole the show
this song came on when my mom was driving to the hospital the night she went into labour with me back in ol' 1992 lol
Bocko took him to church lol both did great tho!
Saw this over 20 years ago and still love it! Looks at those mullet haircuts! Dang I mess this era.
That WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!! THOSE 2 GROUPS SOUNDED SO WELL 2GETHER!!!!!!
I'm probably responsible for 50k of these views at least. So good
I love these two groups and how they sing
Absolutely beautiful.

There is only one word for this. Awesome!
Phenomenal collaboration!
Doesn't get much better than this!
Wow! Amazing sound!
2021, long enough to be called Classic Acapella
Spike Lee and Co. Do it acapella is where this is from. Search it on youtube to find more True Image and more from this PBS Show.
Amo rockapella!!!!!!
wowo,....i was waiting for someone to post this....thank u so much bader!!!
This video: True Image wins
Current recognizability: Rockapella no longer has any of the depicted members but wins nonetheless
Harmony Level: Maximum! :D

It doesn't get any better than this! Thanks so much! :)
Woah, also Allen Toussant's "Working in the Coal Mine" during the last chorus!
I like Rockapella's arrangement more, and their addition of Steely Dan lyrics as the backing was nice.
Looooove it!!!!!!

That would be Zombie Jamboree.

Cool !!!!!

people kept taking this down or cutting out parts of this, sad...
!!!

First time I saw this was over 20 years ago, and this is still amazing today. Seems like most music today is autotune and pitch correction.
Does anyone else find it odd seeing a black guy and a white guy singing into each others faces about how well they remember being under the boardwalk?

@@esobed1 not to mention the intonation is horrible.
