HOW TO MAKE LIGHTED STICK FIGURE COSTUME!
I made this costume for Jordan and I a few years ago for a Halloween party that we threw. It was such a hit and best of all, I got to wear super comfortable clothes all night and be warm!
This DIY Glowing Stickman costume is actually really cheap and easy to make.
Here is what you'll need for this tutorial:
• A Black or dark color hooded sweatshirt
• A Black or dark color pair of pants
• Glue Gun
• Glue Sticks
• Tape
• Flat Top Bar Pins (I found this in the bead section of a craft store)
• Glow Stick Bracelets or Necklaces of one color
I wasn't able to find glow stick bracelets or necklaces with only one color so I bought these variety packs from Michael's Craft Store that contains 5 different color bracelets, each color included 10 bracelets that were 8 inches long.
I ended up using 26 bracelet sticks for my costume, but the number of glow sticks you will need depends on the size of the person who is wearing the costume. (I am 5'0" tall)
I have also seen this costume put together with thick, clear tape. I just didn't trust that tape alone would be enough to hold the glow sticks in place for me so I decided to put my costume together this way.
It is really difficult to put this costume together without bending the glow sticks which will activate it, so I strongly suggest putting this outfit together right before you wear it.
This costume takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour to put together.

Maybye you could put your costume in the fridge because the glow sticks are going to stop glowing after a while putting it in a fridge will make the sticks glow longer

They’re super cheap dude, like 300 for 20 bucks. Plus you can get assorted colors and make different colored “men”. I’ve used mine multiple times through October. The store price of glow sticks, individually, is WAY more expensive than buying bulk online. The hassle of detaching them, freezing them (not guaranteed at all to work) vs, just buying a shit ton, is not worth it. Just grab a grip and enjoy the costume endlessly through the whole month!

Why are you using glosticks and not strip leds?
Just buy a length of strip leds and attach those to your clothes and connect them to a 12v battery pack. You can buy a 5m length for less than a tenner and if you go for a coloured led strip they come with a remote control to change the colours and trigger different lighting patterns...EBAY IS YOUR FRIEND...

Oliver Moran they are make of glow stick necklaces so you break them to activate and can only be worn once. Since I made this, I think there are more options for batter operated lights that you could use instead if you want to rewear them.
I couldn’t see how many pins you used. I’m trying to find a place that sells more than one at a time, so I need to know how many to look for. (I live in Denmark, before anyone gives me store suggestions😊)
Question, did you make the stick man with the glow sticks ON already? They wont glow unless you break them first to activate the chemicals to make it glow.
I think she did because it would be hard to activate all of them when they are already pinned. :)

Do you know that you can get the DIY LED from Glow City right?! Instead of the straight stick that you had in the beginning of the video, buy some LED cord tools or whatever you call it?! I thought it would be easier that way?! It just my opinion.
Chris Hollins that’s a good idea! I made this video a few years ago and wasn’t aware of the LED cord. That sounds like it would be easier though! 😊
I guess you get a lot of practice with this because you have to redo it each time glow sticks fade out

LEDs are great! Unfortunately, they weren’t as popular when I made this video but I would definitely use LEDs instead if I had to make this again

You can look into getting battery powered LED strip lights that will be a lot brighter than this. They may be a bit more expensive but I've heard a lot of people suggesting them instead of these glow sticks. They weren't as readily available when I made this video in 2017 but they should be easy to find now. I hope this helps! This was one of my favorite costumes because it is so cozy lol
