I was in the away end.
We got to see the worst of both fan bases. Two sets of plastic hardmen, "hold me back" merchants and lads keeping Stone Island in business.
Only a one foot tall bit of plastic and a few stewards separating home and away fans.
Some Derry lads came up with a Block K Ultras scarf and got the el expected reaction. It led to trouble behind the stand at half time. Flares being thrown, hence the smoke at the start of the second half.
In the second half some Derry fans were giving it the big one, especially after they scored. The Rovers scumbags of course reacted as expected. After Rovers scored it was more of the same. Rovers lads now giving abuse and Derry lads reacting by throwing bottles. Seats got ripped up and all and thrown back and forth
The chaos after the match kicked off when we were getting back on our buses. About fifty Derry scumbags threw flares, fireworks, bricks, stones and glass bottles among other things. Rovers fans charged and sent the Derry fans running. And as usual the PSNI turn up about ten minutes after it happened.
Second time this season there has been this sort of trouble in the Brandywell. It's only in Derry though due to the stupid arrangements for away fans and lack of actual separation. It's happened to Bohs, Shels and twice to Pats this season too.
Can lads just not go to the football, be loud and proud and even give it the big one without getting violent.
I'm amazed I got out of that town unscathed
If you're up for more LOI then Pats vs Rovers 27th October in Richmond Park would be the pick of the remaining fixtures. Rovers could confirm the title away to our bitter rivals
Both sets of fans r to blame, half them people not even Derry fans they wer just looking trouble on a Friday night, if u wer in away end who the hell brought a gammon to the game and threw it at Derry fans in block c, cant get my head round it 😂
Hopefully you tried to stop the Rovers fans stopping your fans rocking cars with kids in them in the carpark as you's were going to your buses. Kids were terrified.
Good unbiased view of what’s happening. Stewarding and security at particular LOI games needs to improve dramatically

Only time you’ll ever see violence at a Derry game is when it’s provoked by Shamrock Rovers fans, they’re notoriously nasty and cause trouble regularly .

I'm glad I watched this, i knew nothing about the violence before, during and after this match because,as usual, the mainstream media in Northern Ireland haven't reported anything about it . If this was an Irish league match i have no doubt the trouble that occurred would have been broadcast on every local channel and reported in every local newspaper
Why should it be covered in northern ireland media when derry city play in a different country's league for one? Surely its available on RTE so just watch it on that

Start of the season cliftonville fans walked into the heart of South Belfast to attack a linfield bar before the evening game the only one to focus attention on that was the Sunday world. So your comment doesn't add up

Blair, firstly I love your blogs and as an Irish man living in Nottingham I actually miss those occasions, I have always had a soft spot for Bohemians FC, and they are currently building an 8000 all seater stadium in North Dublin and they are the sleeping giants of the league of Ireland, as you know, just like the Clyde, the Liffey splits Dublin in two, Bohemians are the North side as is Sherbourne and Shamrock rovers are south side like Saint Patrick's Ath. Irish fans go mental at these games but When Brighton sell Evan ferguson to City or United, Bohemians will get 15% of the transfer which will bring in at least 20.000.000 to the Club. That aside I'm a Notts county fan and I had a great chat with a jags fan who went on Friday to watch county beat Salford so the offer still stands Blair, come down ro watch the oldest professional club in the world with amazing fans. Firstly, the Dublin City Council has agreed to the redevelopment of Dalymount Park ( which every irishman knows is the spiritual home of Irish football). I no longer live in Ireland but Nottingham, but 22.000.000 euros have been promised to Bohs, and the work has already started on the North terrace of the ground. You know this. Listen Beanbag, even you know, no matter your loyalties lie, the league of ireland needs Bohs as much as Bohs need the League of ireland. Tallagh is a venue that Rovers should be proud of, but you know that it's taken 13 years to get that 10.000 seater stadium built. What Blair and other non Irish don't understand is that the brandywell was developed in 4 years by British money but sadly in the South things take longer but even if it wasn't true which it is, the Evan Ferguson transfer will make bohemians the richest club in Irish footbal. In fact, they would have to win the title 130 times to equal the money he will inevitably bring to Bohemians. I live in notts and support county, but I am Irish 100%.
First off, great to see such a big passionate crowd. Secondly, having lived in Birmingham for 20 years, it gives me great pleasure to see how much the standards have improved in LOI. Its a genuinely good night out. My team is Athlone Town and to see them in a decent stadium away from that dump St Mel's Park is a pleasure. Finally, I the wannabe "hardmen" in the car park don't even warrant any attention. Total losers and wasters.
Really need to get another stand or terrace built rapid . The fact that the brandywell can hold so few for a big club is crazy

Maybe im wrong but it seems you get a lot of youngsters going to matches together in Scotland and Ireland, at the smaller clubs at least. In England, not so much.

At the end there I was walking out and heard no chanting about a dead Derry fan (if there was then fair enough that's not on) from what I seen Derry fans waiting in the car park for rovers fans, I had to put kids and my partner behind a van because of glass bottles etc being thrown at rovers fans. Pulse Security has a lot to answer for in terms of letting the two sets of fans into the car park at the same time like with the shit that went on during the game it was obvious it was going to kick off afterwards and they provided the battlefield basically 😂
Man, that picture of the Gaelic stadium is in my home town of Clones on Ulster final day, you need to go there, atmosphere about the town is incredible… I could sort you out with a ticket and all, it’s like nothing you’ll ever experience

Irish football? He's talking about Irish soccer. In Irish football all fans mix together both inside and outside the grounds and there is never any trouble whatsoever. Like in Gaelic Park in Derry that he showed you at the start of the video. Sadly, in Irish soccer, like just about everywhere else, there is always the potential for crowd trouble.

@@BlairMcNally yep a couple of handbag incidents in CP this year, young and pissed, inexcusable of course, but by far the exception to the rule. 99% of Gaelic games there is never any trouble on the terraces or stands and fans mix together unlike in League of Ireland where fans have to be segregated or else there would be mayhem.
