There was cameras back then in the first world war but they didn't have audio and most of the footage was frame by frame and not every soldier knew what a camera was or were shy from it cause it was a new invention at the time still but having cameras like modern ones that pick up audio would be cool because we could hear the ambient sound and the soldiers telling stories

If people didn't know, these are the Queen's guard. Outside places like Buckingham Palace that wear the bearskin hats and red tunics. Just so you guys know they aren't just ceremonial security guards in traditional uniforms all year round.
I know different duty a person that signed up for infantry could go to engineer for a month
@@wolfpack2945 An infantry soldier became an engineer for a month? Phase 2 trade training for the Royal Engineers is alot longer than that. Maybe you're on about the Assault Pioneer cadre an infantryman can do, which has engineering aspects within it and lasts a month.
They are Grenadier Guards, one of the five Foot guard regiments. Formed in 1656. 1st Battalion is their light infantry role and Nijmegen company are their ceremonial role. They are not security guards, they are active duty soldiers. They don't wear their scarlet tunics all year. Grey coats in winter and tunic in summer months. If you are wondering how I know this as I am joining them and applying for the army shortly.

4:14, if you watch a video called "Every British Death In Afghanistan 2002-2014 †" at 18:20 he comes up. His name was Jamie Janes and he died on the 5th of October 2009 due to an explosion which caused serious wounds. Jamie Janes had lost a leg and most of his limbs were completely mutilated, he was immediately escorted for medical attention along with three other men but he didn't make it. Rest in peace Jamie Janes and thank you for your service, your three brothers and two sisters and your girlfriend Kate are very proud and miss you dearly!

My dad was deployed there ( Australian Ordnance corps ) and apparently his boys loved the local kids. On his deployment in east Timor it was even more so the locals loved the soldiers- yo an extent

When they grow up and are brainwashed into thinking the west is the greatest memory they, and other civilians, will remember american and british troops helping them when they were in great need

they always make the joke that they are the craziest man on the battlefield because instead of holding a weapon they hold a traget on their chest (a cross). jokes aside padres are some of the bravest i ever met in my time as a marine
Respect from 🇮🇪. Our nations had a very bad start but at least the Irish army and the British army are training together and serving overseas together in places like Mali and previously in Kosvo, Bosnia, afghan and other countries

I love how these guys are still having fun. Usually when i think of troops in these countries I just think of misery and death. I know not all situations will be like this but it nice to know these guys are still having fun in between all of the hard times. The islands have belonged to Britain for hundreds of years and in 2016 the islanders voted 98% in favour of remaining British meaning any argentine claim is unjustified.

When you are in a camp filled with stinky guys who grumble and tend to be pissed and unhappy most of the time, kids can be refreshing because they tend to be smiley, happy and easy to please with a little attention and a few trinkets.

It was always the kids that made the days bearable. Always smiling, happy and playing. I was on op Herrick, July time with the Royal Welsh Regiment, recce patrol.

This is so beautiful to see even after 11 years. In the Army you need people to survive your Tour. You don't only fight the physical war where bullets fly past you but the war that you will always fight is the physiological one. That is why the man in 6:20 is enjoying himself and those kids; to take his mind and the kids mind out of reality for one second. In life, it works the same way, you need people to survive the world. You can't do it on your own. Physiological pain is something that is misseen and ignored. Help the others that suffer from it 🙏🏼❤️.
