Okay..so I've had issues with gel application, literally chipping peeling and not lasting at all. I'm an amateur and I do my own gel nails with a kit I purchased on amazon. I followed the directions on this video and they finally lasted properly! Thank you Anastasia!!! 🤗💙
This has confirmed a lot of things for me regarding gel polish application. I’ve always had a hard time getting gel to stay in my natural nails but never on my enhancements which is why I never go natural. I wondered about the primer so I’m going to try that as I feel like o do everything else. Thank you!
What I do is after two weeks that the Polish in starting to lift form the cuticle, I buff the shiny layer of the top coat and apply a new one but this time I bring the top coat closer to the cuticle (since the nails have grown out a little bit). This seales the Polish in place
Anastasia, awesome video like always. I have a couple of comments 1) CND and Masglo brands have cuticle removers that are oil and Alfa hydroxy free! I've tried them both. 2) Awesomely explained about the cuticle being as a sponge! 3) I did file the free edge it but didn't know why! 5) Oops I have done this mistake before, omission of cleaning under 😬 6) In this area of the world everyone applies primer after the dehydrator, good tip to apply only at the free edge. 9) I had no idea that the uv bulbs still lit up even if they're no longer working properly, thank you for that tip!!!! And by the way your KITTY is lovely, thanks so much for all of your excellent videos and tips!
Nailcou Masglo is an awesome brand of mainly excellent polish made in Colombia in South America, it's the OPI of the South America. If you were close I'd send you a few! Xoxo
Great tips I never knew you had to buff the free edge!! Would love to see a video on perfect glare on the nails (leveling of nail plate) and more videos on cuticle work!
What a wonderful video with lots of great information! I am not a nail tech, but I still found the information very useful, as I do my nails at home. Thank you!
I do my own gel extensions I always have to be super super Ott in how I clean due to medications but also because I have skin picking and hair pulling conditions (I have these very badly) but I also have to use crutches and a wheelchair. I actually do my nails for 2 reasons - makes me feel like I don’t look so masculine as well as making it very hard to pick at skin. I started finding channels like this, naio nails (kirsty), simply nailogical (came for nails stayed for the cat and silliness) and nail career education and now I’m just falling in love with everything nails ☺️
I heard the intro music from the other room. I was like no way my mom is watching Liza Koshy. I came into the room and it was this vid... Okay mom, you just love nail tutorials xd
Great info! You are the first person I have EVER heard mention prepping the FREE EDGE. Also, good point on the uv light with the dull topcoat. I didn't figure out my lights were bad until several clients gel mani did not last. Is there a light you prefer & do you think the 2-300$ ones are really that much better? And finally, is Cleo short for cleopatra? She is cute.
Thank you, Pummel Rummel! I like NSI dual lamp, Gelish LED lamp and also I use no name lamp which is both UV 36 W and LED 54 W Yes, Cleo is short for Cleoparta :)
This is a great & very informative video & it was very helpful, even for me who has been doing nails for over 40yrs, haha it just shows we never stop learning & yes you taught me a few things I'd been leaving out, but not anymore., fab - u - lus thank you. Xv
I am so glad I watched this! I'm using Enail products and couldn't figure out why my soak off gel polish didn't soak off. Prep plus primer. I've had to hand-file it off my natural nails. Very carefully, no damage.
Did you break the seal? You always have to start your soak off by at least filing away part of the topcoat in order to break the seal and make it so your remover can even reach the polish to break it down.
Thank you so much for all of your instruction videos and your tips and tricks! I'm learning so much off of them as a hobbyist! You explain things so well. Love watching them! 😊 love from Holland
No it's most likely not the brand's fault. Especially if it comes of in less than a week. Either you don't do correct nail prep or maybe the gel isn't cured completely.
Nailcou honey you don't trust me! I love love your accent! and you explain everything perfectly I love that you also make examples to help us viewers understand even better. thank you for sharing! I'm working on watching all your videos as I reply to you! lol 😁💞💞
Nailcou This is my first ever comment on You Tube. I Qualified as a nail techician in 2003. Only had a nail salon for 2 years. Then I had stop to find a job with a regular Income. Only started preparing my new nail service station a week ago. To come to the point. I spend January watching your tutorials, and it helped me even more than my innitial courses in 2003. Thank you SO much for all your effort and I love your accent. English also my second language. But you manage to explain so well. Thank you again for helping us. Xxxx Madelein (South Africa)
thank you so much for this video, it was very informative. i just need a little more clarity on the use of primer. is it that when we use it on the whole nail plate we won't be able to soak off just it later or we won't be able to soak off the gel colour on it as well?
I was wondering if you have ever used a gel system , IBX Boost which consists of the base and gel. I cant for the life of me get it to cure and when I finally do it with just the base it peels in less than 24 hours or it bubbles off as if I soaked it in acetone. I got a cheap kit and it works great, but the expensive pro system doesnt work. Ive bought 4 different lamps from 48 to 120watts, no difference. I tried dehydrators, primers, filing, ( even though with the IBX there is NO need for any prep except that nails and cuticles are clean.) and it wont stay...... Im waiting for some Gelish products now and hoping that those work like in all the many YT reviewers and users do. Thank you for your tutorials, you are fantastic and explain so perfectly
can you do a video how to quickly shorten almond or stiletto nails with an efile, when i have to shorten square nails it is very easy i just go across the free edge with my efile but with almond shaped or stilleto shaped nails it takes me soooo long to shorten their nails with a hand file because im not sure how to shorten them with the efile. thanks!
😱I don't file my free edge! No wonder. Also I noticed I have to basically do one nail at a time for my gel manicure to last because I tend to touch my nails everywhere after prep😔😩.
Hi Anastasia! I just have one question, is the base coat supposed to be sticky when you put the first coat of polish on, or is it supposed to be totally dry? Thanks! -Chelsea
Good explanation, but you forgot to say that the customer should also have a skinprotection on the hand (half glove or sunscreen) because if the hand goes under the UV lamp, the customer gets UV rays on the skin and that results in time age-spots. Not so good for customer service. I use CND Shellac (colors) and Gellish (base and top and colors) together. Never had problems.
Thank you for this very informative video, Anastasia! You have beautiful hands and nails! I love how narrow your nail plates are! Mine look so wide to me :-( Do you have any recommendations for techniques that will make them appear narrower?
Hello! Really nice video! Sadly I saw it too late haha I got gel manicure, and week later now i got a cracked nail. Do you have any tips on how to fix such problems, because I dont want to remove my gel polish yet since it cost a good deal haha! Hope to get an answer! :)
Hi, I just want to say that I do all of those things yet my nail polish still has a harder time drying and it still chips within a day of doing them. I am constantly doing them and I really don't like doing them ever 4-5 days. Sometimes if the nail polish doesn't dry I find myself having to do them 2 times and it does get annoying. Even if my sister does then I still have the same problem. Have any more tips? Please help. All the best Cynthia
Thank a lot for a wonderful information.sometimes you can use polish from the same brand but some colours oils how can go abt it.2 can clients Daily activities affect the durability of gel.3.am in Kenya which type of gel brands can you recommend?mostly the ones available are Blue sky and Roniki
Amazing vid! I've never done my nails however first time getting a gel maní at a nice place and they are peeling from the free edge after 3 days 😢 maybe because they filed the free edge as the last step? 💔
At the corners of my nails I always seem to have hard, dead skin that isn’t painful, but cracks. When I get my gel mani every 2 weeks my technician always removes my old polish with acetone wraps, clips and files the corners and then dips my fingers into cold water. When she starts removing all the dead skin, my fingertips have been in the water for less than 45 seconds. Should she be soaking my tips longer before starting? And wouldn’t warm water be better than cold water?
I follow all these tips and literally every single time the Polish will be coming up within hours in the whole thing will just pop off my nail. I tried putting on a thin layer and it seems to make no difference no matter what I do. I used to get acrylics done. Since I was about 13 I never went without getting my nails done and now that my natural nails are so brittle and weak I want to let them grow out naturally I'm just done getting acrylics done and I tried out shellac polish on my natural nails and it seems like nothing will keep the polish on my nails
I love your video and your cat!!! I do have a question though...I just got a gel manicure and I was wondering if I can use cuticle oil and lotion on a regular basis?? I asked my nail technician and she said no bc it will lift the gel. But others said she was wrong. Not sure who to listen to. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to keep my cuticles moisturized if she's correct??
So helpful, brilliant video. May I ask you something, when I apply base, and put under UV for 30 seconds it comes out with bubbles on it. Why does it happened
Salome, try applying it thinner or use a different brush, sometimes are bubbles are already between the bristles and after curing they just came to the top. Also make sure the base is clean (no hair, dust, glitter is in the bottle).
Hi 👋 sweetheart. New here and you have awesome 👏 tips. I have subscribed. My gel polish is peeling on my clear powder. I am using a mini uv lamp so could that be causing the peel? Thanks 😊

Excellent tutorial and tips! If you “fail to prepare then prepare to fail”!!

Thank you ! 😘
OMG I am so happy to find you channel! I watch 5 videos for you till now and can't stop lol
Thanks, Haneno, I'm glad you're enjoying it :)
Hi Anastasia! I just have one question, is the base coat supposed to be sticky when you put the first coat of polish on, or is it supposed to be totally dry? Thanks! -Chelsea
Chelsie Arone should be tacky.
Chelsie Arone don’t wipe the base coat. Only wipe when you are completely done with your top coat
I always love your videos and advice.
LOVED this video!! A lot of good information and tips!!
Love ur tutorial my online teacher:)
Thank you so much. I learned so much from this video
You're under there for 45 seconds at a time, a minute tops. There isn't enough time under the lamp for it to be a worry.
Thank you for this very informative video, Anastasia! You have beautiful hands and nails! I love how narrow your nail plates are! Mine look so wide to me :-( Do you have any recommendations for techniques that will make them appear narrower?
Gayle, for wide nail I recommend to do almond shape
Hello! Really nice video! Sadly I saw it too late haha

@@Nailcou isn't it okay to use them every night? Sorry to dredge up an old comment 😂

The " other" cheap salons doesn't cap free edge! And they're charging $30-40 here in Wisconsin, USA.
Awesome teaching
Thank you.
A very informativr video! Great job! What glue do you use for cracked nails?
Thank you, Maralen! I usually use finer or gel polish base coat to fix it
great lessons there
I still have a problem.
I got regular. I chipped them off
3 days
I got gel. I kept peeling it
7 days
I got dip nails. Chipped them a of

Awesome video. Thank you so much.
You motivate me 💖
