We were headed to the Rock n Roll Revival concert in Toronto in 69, to see The Doors, Alice Cooper, Fats Domino and Little Richard, when we heard a late addition was made to the lineup. On walks John Lennon and the Plastic Ono band, with guest guitar player Eric Clapton. It was rock heaven up there that night.

@@John_Locke_108 Thanks, it would be difficult to create the atmosphere that day, but will have a look. Other than Yoko’s screaming it was an amazing concert The Doors didn’t finish until about 2am, but for $7 it was a great day in rock

This was the first single from The Door' s final album, from 1971, L.A.Woman.
Just a wonderful melody, with Jim's vocals so stellar, the wonderful organ and the catchy bass of Jerry Scheff who worked with Elvis. Written by guitarist Robby Krieger, about his constant break ups with his future wife.
Great reaction Harri. Thanks Craig. 👏👏❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦

While awaiting the organ you might recall that the Doors did not have a bass guitarist. Their bass was played on a keyboard by Ray Manzareck (sp?)! Truly remarkable!

The organist on this and other songs also played the keyboard as well. A very talented synthesizer player as well. Multi tasking at it's best. Check out the live concert videos to witness the magic. No auto-tune junk on this music. Take care Harri !

Robbie Krieger was the guitarist in The Doors, and he was another principal songwriter. He wrote the bulk of Light My Fire, wrote Love Me Two Times, Tell All The People, Touch Me, Wishful Sinful, and Love Her Madly. Ray Manzarek is the organ player, and keyboard player for The Doors. He played a keyboard bass, but on most studio tracks, a bass player was brought in. In this case, on the LA Woman album, it is Jerry Scheff, Elvis Presley's bass player that is doing bass duties here. Cheers, Harri! ✌️

Nice! This is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I was a really little kid when it was new. The piano and the organ riff stood out on the radio, but I was too little to grasp how lucky I was for hearing it in that context. I caught up with it and more in the decades since.

Son of an ultra-conformist, cold, emotionally distant military father. A father who refused ever to listen to his son perform live or on an album. Think of that, and then wonder where the rebellion and drug problems came from.

Hi Harri, you often seem to feel the need to compare artists you are reviewing to other artists. Usually, I can't see or hear the comparison, but you like all of us, are entitled to your opinion. I usually refrain from comment, but today, I couldn't, to compare Robbie Krieger's guitar work to Hank Marvin's, is a stretch too far. Apart from the fact that they were both played on a guitar, I don't think their styles and tones could be further apart. If you must indulge your love of comparison, at least make it a realistic comparison, this certainly wasn't.
