- In my opinion this title is the best 2D Beat'm'Up of the Dragonball franchise ever made. Enjoy the DBZ Story. Sadly, no appearance of any other Android except Cell.

If it hasn't been said before, this game has some of the nicest Sprite work ever on the snes. The detail to each character is simply stunning.
I very much agree , I like when they power up.
Yes as a game developer I can confirm it’s outstanding for its time and hardware.
Personally still prefer super butoden. These sprites have this strange shiney look like they are made of plastic.

It's because sprite-based anime fighters, especially done on a smaller budget/short dev time, had to be conservative with their rosters, with each character being represented by a particular iteration of themselves (usually what was most trendy and relevant to the most recent arcs at the time). DBZ had just ended not long prior to HD, so SS2 Goku and Majin Vegeta are chosen to represent their characters.
Funniest was Fat Buu spitting out Kid, Kid eating Fat and later spitting Fat out. Super Buu was nowhere to be found!

I had quite a few of the original DBZ games from this time, but I sadly never had this one! damn, I wish I got to play this one.
I read about this game like 15 years ago in some video game magazine that's not defunct, I forget which exactly, but they made this game sound absolutely awesome and I always wanted to play it.
Well, guess what. It is amazing.
This game was basically my childhood, yet I remember about it only now that I'm 20. I used to watch my older brother play this all the time as a kid. Thanks for the ride down memory lane man!

I like how charging up energy is also healing. That is how it feels like in the show to some extent. When they seem to be beaten almost to death, they often charge as much energy as they can.

This is basically Final Bout with decent response time lmao. I love this game tbh, along with FB and UB22. DBZ Legends is up there.
The story mode is so hard in this game !!!
The most difficult thing is performing some of the ultimates, like Goku's and Vegeta's.

I remember playing a DBZ game on the internet a very long time ago but it was more like a tactical fighting game where you chose whether to fly or stay on the ground and chose your attack sequence from there. I never knew the name of it though but it was just so good.

I liked the 2nd butouden best you could do super combos called meteo attacks that sent you flying across the screen and you could recover from throws in midair. You could even fight as Broly if you beat the game on the highest level with goku, vegeta, gohan , and trunks.

drizzziit hyper fighter z is a fan made game tho. But fighterZ plays more like MVC this plays like CVS tbh I think it’s a better playing style cus u don’t mash buttons

A lot of players don't like this game, I do. The graphics are daring, the developers had taken the risk of doing something different to change and I find them pretty. The sound effects are also good but the music, I admit, is not very good.

tried installing this to my SNES classic, tried 3 different roms. none work :\ i don't get why. i made sure they were American SNES roms too. just doesn't make any sense.
I have the same problem too I’ve tried so many times, even with a patched rom and I’ve come to accept that not all games will work. Not even great games such as Tales of Phantasia, Terranigma, or the Fire Emblems work either.
Or just stick to FighterZ. Out of all the DBZ fighting games on SNES, the first and third butoden games work like a charm. Unfortunately the 2 good ones I.e Butoden 2 and Hyper Dimension sadly do not work 100%.

It has like five Saiyans. And two Buus. Other types of characters are underrepresented, if represented at all.

A MISTAKES in STORY MODE: first :goku when he finished freeser at namek planet was super saiyan 1 ,not ssj2 (with electricity) ,Goku never killed freezer on earth ,but it's future trunks, also it's sangohan junior that killed Cell not Goku (who helped him ) also Majin vegeta never met cell,there's no epic fight between majin vegeta & songoku ,also they should make instead of the match songoku vs bou , songohan vs bou, gotenks vs bou, Bejito vs bou, majin bou vs bou then finally songoku vs bou , like the true DBZ story or maybe they should add some transformation of bu when he absorbs sayens for not beeing boring(instead of those "bonus matchs" wich i didn't figure out the meaning ? )
lotfi zammel Dude. This was on a SNES. Characters and story related objects related to DBZ had to be cut in order for us to have a story in the first place. Besides, the game is what matters here, not really the story.

Game is good and the nostalgia is strong but the story is SO fucked up... Goku beats Cell instead of Gohan (i get they don't have kid Gohan in the roster) and why didn't they include adult Gohan in the Majin Buu saga at all? Also no Gotenks and Vegito, just some bonus battles pulled out. They could have included them in the story with just a few more words of explanation and stay faithful to the original.
I thought all the dragonball Z games sucked some serious ass. considering to buy this mint complete in pal it's over £100

+ss4vegeta1 GT had "Hikari no Willpower", which is probably one of my favorite character themes in the game...of course, Future Trunks is also my favorite DBZ character.
Odd art style for a dbz game...
I hated this game. Sure gameplay was way better than butouden games, but the concept art was horrendous: poor character design, OST frigging awful, meteor attacks are bland in the way they are delivered, etc. I chose Butouden games over this at any time even clunky super butouden 1.
Listen to Dbz hyperdimesion U.Blue and tell me that isn’t the shit. Butouden was soooo asssss bro the art even looked better than Butouden’s look at the sprites
I disliked the abscence of split screen , the short stages, the walk into other side of back stage is just a Fatal Fury idea badly copied, the fireballs lost of their charm ,characters cannot fly.and the story is full of mistakes, it requires lot of characters like Dabura,Yamu&Spopovich ,Pui Pui,videl...(they talk about UUBU without been present in game)and transformation,cell and friezr should be replaced by other bosses of the Bu saga.the colors are fade not vivid
