    Great scope, but I fancy the approach of Element Optics´ HYPR7 more. Optical scope, but the whole reticle is a digital overlay, fully customizable. Built in weather station (temp, hum, pressure), wireless communication with a capable rangefinder of your choice, you can save and use different gun/ammo profiles. Long battery life, of course app support. Atm there´s only a compact 7x50 available (cheaper than expected), but there´s more to come for sure. If you haven´t already, make sure to check that one out 😉

    When I first got invited to a deer camp, I bought a Leupold VX3 for my 243. Not knowing that people bought lots of really high end optics, I was embarrassed that I spent that much. Now, I am saving for a $1000+ scope and range finding binos.

    • @DavidBnks02
      @DavidBnks02 Před 3 měsíci

      Dude don't even sweat it. High end optics are great but a VX3 is a great deer gun optic and will do most of what the VX5/6 will do. I have some VX freedoms and VX5/6s and I think optically they're very close, all you're missing on lower lines is parallax and elevation adjustment (My $1400 VX5 only has elevation). Your 243 is a sub 400 yard round. No way you need $1000 worth of scope for that far. Save the cash go get a vortex bino and range finder, the combo units are just too expensive imo for the weight you save with one item.

    • @dethmgnt4257
      @dethmgnt4257 Před 3 měsíci +2

      Not sure about the new ones, but the original Veracity PH only allowed for 34 MOA of digital adjustment before you hit the zero stop. I removed the zero stop to see if continuing to turn the knob would allow the digital counter to keep going, but sadly, that was the limitation. So, adding a 20 MOA base does nothing for extra distance if you are using the digital aspect, but the scope will still physically adjust beyond 34 MOA if you remove the zero-stop, so you could use the DOPE chart in the app and still use it like a traditional scope.

    After Tuesday night, I swore off any scope requiring batteries. Veracity PH had batteries (2) die after only 30 minutes of use. 20 minutes of that was trying to match up the Heads up Display and dialed turrets to the correct MOA. After discussions with Burris and sending in all my app settings, they came back and said I could not use G7 ballistics for my Hornady 147 ELD Match factory ammo. I had to use G1. As you can imagine, not a preferred work around. Manual said if batteries die in the field, you can dial turrets as normal. I tried that and could not hit the target at 350. Scope is off the 6.5 PRC and my Vortex Razor is mounted and hitting dead on at 350. Perhaps this is just a one off experience, but I will not trust a battery on an expensive hunt in the future. And they have to last more than 30 minutes. I religiously turn the scope off each time. And this all took place over 2 months waiting for good shooting weather.

It talks about smart rifles and uses their verbiage as follows “Smart Rifles means any firearm that is equipped with one or more of the following” subsection 2(c) states “a ballistics computer.” It is vague as it doesn’t explicitly say what a ballistics computer is, however I don’t think I want to test the theory that it is ok. Being that Colorado and Idaho are two states with OTC tags for OOS residents, I’d just go with something else for the ease. Such a cool piece of tech though. Thanks for all you do. Do you believe the upgrade from last years model is worth the upgrade? I’m seeing it almost a 500 dollar difference.

    Are they actually waterproof unlike the veracity you threw in the pool?

    Pretty cool scopes and technology. I am sure that there are multiple states where those last two are illegal. 😎🦌

    So I've been watching all of these new scopes come out, and believe me I am NOT a hater in any sense of the word. I find the technology really cool and amazing, however it kinda seems like everyone is copying Leupolds CDS system of just dialing for yardage instead of moa or mils. Sure they have the drawback of that turret being specific to that bullet and range of conditions, but being that I hunt in cold weather a lot the last thing I need is more batteries to worry about. To each their own, I currently use the Sig BDX system but yeah Leupold for me and most of my hunting 😁

    how is the glass quality from the new eliminator? I bought the latest version last summer. But after a few days hunting i gave it back and got another one. But the same issue. Low light quality was an absolute disaster 🙈
    really like the concept, but we’re hunting 99% red deer and stag and those come out only in the last hour in our area.
    but that wasn’t manageable with that glass quality.
    curious to see the price tag in my country for the new one.
    maybe I’ll give it a try once more.

      The 6 has insanely clear glass . The 4-5 had a yellow tint that hurt low light visibility . Check one out if you have the chance - you won’t be disappointed

    I heard many States don't allow the eliminator 6 for hunting? Any truth on that @backfire?

    i like the eliminator and want one. maybe the 7 will incorporate the digital turret.
    sig has a similar setup but its a separate range finder that pares with the phone and scope to make the dot.

      I have the Older Burris Eliminator III, Laser Rangefinder Scope. I got it second hand, but the Lifetime Warranty is still Good.
      It’s Super easy to use, put crosshairs on Target, push Laser button, use the holdover red dot 🔴 as the point of Aim.
      Programming is a bit fiddley, pressing buttons, but they include a printed quick guide.
      I’ve used it on my 243 Bolt Action, to hit and group 1MOA on 500Y & 700Y targets.
      The Burris website App gets you close, with the Holdover Red Dot 🔴, but I just changed the drop number a couple of times to fine tune the Point of Impact and Point of Aim on a 500Y Steel plate.
      It also takes into account a target at higher or lower angles, by using an auto inclinometer.

      They will but they'll milk the eliminator to about 8 and the PH to about 5.... Burris has a bad habit of releasing upgraded products every two years to milk a little more blood out of the turnip...Funny it took till the 5th eliminator before they could improve the glass, and then new PH majicaly has better glass the the original just released in 21 hmmm. Pretty sure the new Eliminator PHD in about 2030 will come with shitty glass too;)
