CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When Dre (Jaden Smith) wants to quit, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) shows him how his jacket training has actually helped him learn some kung fu moves.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
When a 12-year-old from Detroit moves to China with his mother and incurs the wrath of the class bully at his new school, he makes an unlikely ally in the form of his aging maintenance man, a kung fu master who teaches him the secrets to self-defense. Upon arriving at his new school, Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) develops a powerful crush on pretty classmate Mei Ying. The feeling is mutual, although the cultural divide between Dre and Mei Ying makes a friendship unlikely, and romance impossible. When cruel classmate and kung fu prodigy Cheng learns of Dre's feelings for Mei Ying, he harasses and humiliates the young outsider in front of the entire school. With no one to turn to for help, Dre confides his fears in kindly maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), a kung fu master who knows that serenity and maturity -- not punches and power -- are the true keys to mastering the martial arts. As Dre prepares to face down his intimidating tormentor, he begins to realize that the real fight is just beginning.

Jackie's always been a comedy and kung fu master, but this flick was the first time I really saw him shine as an ACTOR.
For live action: watch the clip from Drunken Master.
For animation: Jackie Chan Adventures and Kung Fu Panda.
New Police Story and Thunderbolt were some of his dark themed movies. And suprisingly he's good playing his role seriously
I felt the same way when I saw Robin Williams in What Dreams May Come after seeing him in so many comedic roles.
I think you would enjoy the foreigner story line was pretty wack however Jackie’s acting in a drama film was refreshing to see something different than comedy and nice to see honestly Jackie saved that movie
_Heart of the Dragon_ (which was also known as _First Mission_ in some English-language releases) and _Crime Story_ also showcase Jackie's acting without heavily relying on his action comedy persona. _Crime Story_ is also based on a true story.
"Everything is Kung Fu."
"What about the title of the film?"
"Nah that part is Karate. But everything else is Kung Fu."
Lol
Well the Karate kid was because Frankie Fernandez called him that, because every martial arts in the 80’s was karate to uneducated masses of America.
In Asian countries China, Japan And South Korea they called this movie Kung fu dream or Kung fu kid. It’s ok Mr Han western called it karate kid.
The word kungfu 功夫 literally means effort. As long as you spend your effort in something, it's kung fu
I guess they wanted to call it Kung Fu Kid, but wanted to avoid copyright with Kung Fu Panda.
“Cause you don’t know Kung-Fu”
Jackie Chan:Am I a joke to you?
😂
Wait drake said you don't know kung fu? But his been saved by jackie chan and he saw kung fu sorry for my grammar
i heard him say “jack it off”

He’s vsing a sober drunken master
I feel like Jackie Chan lived those words into his life, and that’s what makes it so much more real.
That's true, cause he says something similar in Forbidden King3

im half chinese, i used to bug my grandpa alot to teach me kung fu like in the karate kid. he watched the movie and said ok. he had me clean the gutters, sort out the boxes in the garage, water the vegetables, and a buncha other stuff i did this for 2 weeks straight till i overheard him talking to my dad saying " oh hes just doing yard work for me" and was laughing. turned out he didnt know kung fu, i shouldve asked him first tbh
And little did you know that all the activity and repetitive movements WERE in fact teaching your body something that COULD be used in martial arts. “Everything is Kung Fu” isn’t just a throw away line.

That and "no face" have me cracking up randomly throughout the day
Jackie doesn’t get enough credit for his acting. He’s a great actor.
Maybe you need to watch more of his movies and Interviews with him.
how does he not , his performance are always top notch.
My three favorites with him were Rumble in the Bronx, Police Story, and Legend of Drunken Master.
He doesn’t really get noticed a lot for his acting but moreso his fight choreography, thought I don’t really blame anyone because his main thing is comedy which is mostly slapstick. Really the only dramatic roles he’s done are in Police Story (2013) and The Foreigner. I think if he could speak English more fluently he’d be given a lot more variety of roles.
Try watching shinjuku incident(don't know if i spelled it correctly). He doesn't do kung fu in that movie.

most of all: devotion.
devote yourself into something, and great things may come. Even something special can be found in mundane things.

cool beans wait yo why is it called karate kid when he’s learning Kung fu
I love the sentiment this whole scene brings. "Everything is kung fu." Kung fu literally means acquired skill, time spent, ability, or hard work. Everything is hard work in life, that's just the way it is. Get your head out of the sand and do what makes you happy, because it's no harder than anything else. The only thing easier is to not live at all
Wise words😊😊😊
"Kung Fu lives in everything we do..How we treat people"..best dialogue of century!!!

Jackie taught him his first string, combo, counter, block, neutral predict, and safe moves. All in one lesson. I have trouble teaching people how to apply a jab.
Interesting how Jackie's favorite weapon is a stretched out shirt, rope, or jacket between his hands. He always wants to grapple and subdue his opponent rather than knock them out of the fight.
