- This is how I built my WW2 Ardennes Offensive Encounter diorama in 1:35 scale, using Tamiya German 8ton Semitrack 20mm Flakvierling Sdkfz 7/1 and Miniart Diorama with barn plastic model kit. Making the diorama set in the Ardennes during The Battle of the Bulge I have represented the 101st Airborne and Waffen SS, 1st SS Tank Division on the Western Front WW2.
I have used Tamiya and Paracel figures and also items from Miniart, Vallejo, AK Interactive, Lifecolor, Ammo, Green Stuff World, MIG, MAIM, Easyline, Eureka, Model Scene and other companies miniatures.
Features include UV resin ice road, Miniart pigeons, realistic snow, Airbrush Iwata chipping, weathering with pigments, rust, snow and figure painting.
Hope you enjoy!

Thanks John!
Wow this is fantastic work, the old tamiya model is absolutely great, the snow and ice on the street and what you have made of the old figures is sensational. Great work, very nice!!
Thanks, really appreciate your comments Steel & Iron! It was an enjoyable build.
Superb work!
Many thanks!

Many thanks Toni! It was a really enjoyable build!
Just WOW. That's one of the best dioramas i've seen. Hope u don't mind if i copy some of ur ideas😁
Thanks Mike! Really appreciate your comments & glad you enjoyed!
Hi mate
Been meaning to just stop and watch your video for so long!
Fantastic piece of work for such an old Tamiya family favourite!
Love your work Rob, and now that I’m retired I can start to catch up on all the great dioramas and builds!
Cheers from Perth ❤😊
Many thanks! Yes the Tamiya is a classic and I enjoyed setting it in a diorama scene, experimenting with products. Best wishes on your retirement! Lucky you, I only wish to get there so I can build more!!!
Hahahaha my back and right hip are stuffed, too many years as a heavy commercial mechanic lol
I do all my builds on a stable table in bed.
Not a retirement plan that I had yearned for you could say.
On a positive note, I do modelling every day when I’m not in so much f-king pain.
It’s really great to see local Aussie modellers kicking some butt out there in the big world of ‘experts’ even though there are some fantastic guys who have pretty well cornered the art of our hobby!
Thanks again for sharing your great work mate.
Best of luck! Building is so satisfying and relaxing, you can’t go wrong. Many thanks
Mate, it’s something that I started about 50 odd years ago and typically it just got lost in the way of life like everyone else.
I’ve been stockpiling so many kits for the past 20 years or so, and now after being twice divorced and my kids have farked off, I can finally start to try and get back into it.
Honestly, it is probably the only positive treatment for depression and other mind destroying shit that I could ever recommend to anyone!
I’ve had 3 work related burnouts and too many health problems to even try to bore you brother!
My eyesight is not too bad, and my hands still work so that’s all I need mate!
Take care my friend and keep on modelling!!!
Awesome
Thanks Mark!
Nice job.
Thanks Marco
cool
Glad you enjoyed!
Excellent work, the only thing is that the German officer is wearing an army cap, and not an SS cap.
Thanks! Good spotting, you’re right. I usually sand off the cap badge & replace with the skull decal or paint it on. Think I need to borrow the flak gunners glasses.
nicely done diorama, one major problem though is that your vehicle is in Panzer grey which makes it out of place if you are depicting battle of the bulge (1944) since practically all German vehicles sported some variant of 3-tone camouflage at this point in the war
Thanks, appreciate your feedback. Yes new vehicles came out in dark yellow base so most would be the tri color camo in 44. Mine will need to be one of the rare non-tank vehicles that was not repainted & maintained its dunkelgrau due to lack of paint in the field.
Great work. I'm a beginner but i don't know where to buy these or how ro get started. Can u help maybe ? I've done 3 model planes.
Hi Chris, thanks, you can see many links for the items i use if you click on more in the description or online at Amazon or online model stores (depends on which country you are from).
