      I don't recall who the historical figure was; but there was at least one man who, after he died, some revelations came to light that so enraged his detractors that they dug up his remains so that they could be burned. We, as those whom he (JFK) left behind, ought to resolve to act likewise should it ever come to light who the real sons of Bitches were that were responsible for his murder.

      I think i many ways the Kennedy presidency Is the high point of U.S. presidency why because It was a the time U.S. was already the most powerful country in the world but a lot of people remmember when it was not, most people had been on the armed forces or were part of the home front in factories or other in ww2 , they lived the great depression and they as generation earned the power their country helded , second the kennedys were a family who had fullfill the American dream from poor immigrant to fame , power and money , third jfk himself was a veteran , and a well read Man ( like churchill ) but young at the moment to take office unlike Churchill who was an old Man , the last cry of a dying empire , Kennedy was young , modern the image of the " new world " that the American continent has always been and the last because he inspired and represent dreams and posibility

      I would also note that yesterday Trump passed the buck on the failed Yemen raid on those who developed this before he was in office. In contrast, after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, JFK made the comment "There's an old saying that victory has a hundred fathers and defeat is an orphan." He went on to take full responsibility. The invasion of Cuba had been planned by the Eisenhower administration but Kennedy had the courage to step up and note that the 'buck stops here'. He was a much better leader. Trump couldn't even give a press conference like this.

    • @OnePost909
      @OnePost909 Před 7 lety +5

      Michael Barnhart - That's almost literally true. One major difference between the two men (among many) is their relative grasp of history. JFK loved history, read history, wrote history, recognized it as a most valuable way to understand governing, leadership, how humans get things done and sometimes fail to get things done. Trump has zero grasp of history, in fact apparently has contempt for history, as typified by his recent "thoughts" (May 2017) about the Civil War.

    As American's we should expect our current leaders to live up to this and or exceed this standard. This is a President who has a grasp of all issues, an opinion and a solution for the country as he deems necessary. Listening to his statements one understands he know the topics too which he addresses and is open for suggestions as to the betterment of a nation.
    Sadly this is not the case today, our current president reads off teleprompters and answers questions ( very rarely ) with pre-written responses. Going forward we as a country should demand a standard such as this example, nothing less is acceptable.

      Just the fact that he held so many of these press conferences, to try and keep the American people updated on the current issues and to be held accountable for any mistakes( think he apologized for the Bay of Pigs failure) nowadays, the President doesn't come close to doing anything like this, mostly, it's the Press Secretary that acts as a sort of a Buffer and mouthpiece for info instead, plus, with sources like social media and CZcams, people don't so much need to rely on just Network News coverage anymore. Kennedy seemed so sharp and involved with issues at hand, unlike now, I heard that Trump hardly bothered to read any or most briefings of any kind

      Certainly he had the makings of a "great" President. His 1st term was cut short, so naturally there was no second term. We'll never know what he might have accomplished, nor can we know what domestic and international events and crises he might have faced. We know something of the matters Kennedy would have dealt with. But his very presence in the White House would have had an incalculable effect on how those issues would have proceeded. And that is what is so very tragic. He was denied those opportunities, but more importantly, Americans were denied those opportunities. That America recovered and prospered as we have in the almost 60 years hence is indicative of the strength of the American 'experiment.' I think JFK would be very proud of America.

    When was the last time an American Admistration talked disarmament? Kennedy talked a good game, but unfortunately his administration was a complete disaster. Berlin Wall, Laos, Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile (which damn near incinerated the planet), and the Assassination of Diem. Still, my God what a stage presence.

    Look at the number attending. Too many for the White House so it was moved to this State Department auditorium.
    The news conferences were very popular on Tv. Because they were I telling ent ant witty.

      This was back when Republicans and Democrats alike loved their country. Both knew this nation is exceptional and both intended to keep it that way. They just disagreed on many of the means of doing so. Today, the Democratic Party is bent on destroying our Constitution first. With that out of the way the highway is wide open to destroying the country. And I'm not exaggerating.
