  • A customer reached out to us to inquire about repotting his seven feet tall bonsai tree. It has been twelve years since it was last repotted. The pot it's currently in is a plastic mica pot and the customer wanted to repot it into a bigger ceramic pot for better proportions.
This was definitely a challenge for us. Watch the video to find out how we did it!

What an amazing thing to see! To have lived that long in that pot and look that good. Lucky for the owner they called you, it looks great and my guess is that it will continue to be so with continued care.

New bonsai gardener here .. in SE Arizona. We require deeper and larger pots due to heat .. but I love the larger bonsai anyway. Just bought and 5' tall Italian Stone pine with intention for it to become a large bonsai .. you are a beautiful family and so generous with your knowledge! Thank you!

And for the bonsai pot, get the ones that are finished in high temperature fire kilns. These ones help protect your soil from heat and cold. The high temperature fire pots make it so the temperature of the soil stays a bit more consistent even though the outside temperature is too hot or too cold.

Amazing teamwork and leadership! Thank you and the owners for allowing us a glimpse into the process. The tree is beautiful! Very natural looking Bonsai…as a newbie, my favorite style are those that mimic nature closely.

May I ask what soil mix you used?
    Thank you, amazing video!

It's a blend of local potting soil, coconut coir, pumice stone, and lava rock. Our soil allows the plant to absorb the water that it needs and the porous rocks drain out any excess water. We've been using this formula for close to 40 years with amazing results.

So how many people call you to do repotting? Do you have to go water and fertilizer too. Not trying to be a smart ass but part of this craft is in the creation of the tree.

Every customer who requests a repotting service, we always teach them how to do it and encourage they do it themselves. We don't get too many who request a repotting service, but this one in particular was unique. It's too difficult to repot something this big by yourself as this tree probably weighed several hundred pounds. The aftercare is always done by the customer and not us.
The customer has owned this tree for 35+ years and have done all the training themselves. This was the first time they've asked for help.
