Aputure 120d mk1 as Key with a softbox + grid, 120d Mk 2 with fresnel for rim light, falconeyes rx-818 as top/hair light, litepanels gemini 1x1 and cametv rgb slim tube for background rgb lights, and a lupo superpanel full color 60 as my light table.. that's my studio setup. And then if I'm outside, the velveltlight evo1, because it's rainproof, is rgbww, and uses v mount batteries. It's not exactly a budget friendly kit..
Little inquiry, would going with flexible LED (with their brackets and stands) good option over the standard ones ? am in the market for continuous light from Godox.
@@falothman Godox lights are great for the price, but with a big softbox it will take a lot of space. If I had to choose between that and one of the falconeyes flex lights as my key light, I would go with a the flex light. They're fantastic.
Tommy Callaway great .thank you!
i hear nothing but good things about Falconeyes, it's just that we don't have a dealer in Saudi Arabia , but am looking them up in B&H and Amazon. Getting one this week👍🏻
Think Media I just bought the Aputure AL-F7 for my key light ... here is a video of my ‘experimental’ setup - m.czcams.com/video/eeuBS3dP4cM/video.html 😅!
To the person who's reading this, you will grow your youtube channel one day, don't give up....
But I’m not tryin to lol thanks tho
Tried 3 times but each time I get frustrated and give up.
I love that more and more people are talking about lights. Cameras only have 1 job: To capture light. Once you understand that - you can understand a new camera won't change anything as much as a small investment in some lights will.
Very helpful comment
Extremely helpful
Exactly!
Exactly what I learnt these days, when I change my lights my IPhone is recording like a cinematic camera.
Microfone and cameras are equal they just capture things, if you put a great mic in front of a bad musician you’ll have a bad recording. 😅
i mean from an anatomy level very true because we need to light for our eyes to see this comment is GOLDEN
Excellent video. Been meaning to invest in a better lighting setup. Buying this gear and hope to use it in my videos next week.
Nolan, this is the BEST and most concise lighting tutorial I have come across yet. Thank you!
youtube needs more content that gets to the point as quickly and articulately as you've done here - well done.
Just used these tips and set up on my shoot today. Looked awesome. Thank you.
This is the best concise video I’ve seen about lighting. You showed where to put them and the effects and differences with and without each light. And you didn’t over explain or fill the video with unnecessary information. Thanks.
Great video! I love the fact that the information is presented short and to the point. I've seen people stretch the same information into a 10 min. video. I'm subscribing to you because I love it when people don't waste my time just to get a second ad break. Thank you!
Why is it some people know how to explain things simply and other seem to complicate.
This was brilliant especially the motivated lighting. Very exciting.
PURE GOLD GUYS!! Just bought the Neewer 660 kit and a portable backlight. Yes, I too have noticed the inclusion of lights in TV and movies. Without lighting, the footage looks awful. MANY THANKS AGAIN!!!
This is the best video on this subject on CZcams. Quick, concise, no unnecessary waffle. Well done.
I’m on my 3rd watch of this video! Bought a Neewer NL660 as my key light which has already made a huge difference! Will slowly add to my setup on the advice offered here. Thanks folks! Awesome advice!
I’ve been playing with lighting and trying to improve the quality of my lighting and this tip kind of just put the glue together on the pieces and now I feel like I know what I’m doing because I have literally all of that equipment
I've been struggling with lighting forever, this was simple and to the point. Awesome.🔥
This seems so simple but makes the biggest difference in image quality. Besides being in focus I think this is the next most important thing. I get caught up in the trap of resolution, bit rates, compression, etc... and that all is pointless without proper lighting!
Lighting has really improved the videos on my YT channel. While I am only working with a key light & a bounce board at this point, it has really helped so much. Thanks for all the videos on lighting to help me better understand the process.
Awesome, informative, quick, efficient lesson on lighting. Thanks guys!
Thank you guys, I am doing my studio lighting today .. this is very handy!
Fantastic
that beginning!!!,, as a total complete beginner... that was AMAZING!!.. i cant describe why they look different, but MAN I have never been able to see a before and after... and that just blew me away
Hey everyone! Thanks for the pointers. Think Media enouraged me to create my own CZcams channel! Because of theit help I've gained over 400 subs in just under a month from 0 and its keeps going up! Thank you Think Media for the awesome tips!!!!
Filip 400 in under a month awesome man keep going
@@TalkinWithTonio Thank you! Currently I only have 2 videos but people seem to like my content! New video today!
He also encouraged me to
Omg that’s so inspiring. Congrats! seriously amazing progress for 1 month! Will check your channel to take notes 😄
I didn't understand how much of a difference lighting made until recently. I only used to film with natural light but now I'm using softboxes and a ringlight and there's such an improvement!
Mind telling me which one you use as a key light and which one as a fill light ?
This is the very first video that taught me lighting for video. So cool to have found it after these few years again. Its really well done. Good job!
I totally forgot about a back light, you're right it makes a critical difference.
Very good and quick simple video with some great tips that are easy for a rookie like me! I have the smaller Neewer light and am looking to add the affordable softbox lights that you highlighted in another video. Now I know I will use the softboxes for my key and fill lights and add the Neewer as a backlight!
Thanks again for the great tips!
Nolan, I loved how you explained everything in this video! So concise! Thank you, think media team! 🌻💗
3:xx mins straight to the point! Clear ! Thank you so much
I just got my newer 660 lights. two of them. Trying to learn how to use them in a tight spot. Did not know about having a back light. That would help so much. Thank YOU!
Great video & advice!! I record and edit all from my 5 year old phone and the biggest difference in my video quality is when I'm in good lighting vs bad lighting
Thank you for keeping it simple and to the point...ordering our backlight now! ❤️
Love these tips on lights! I honestly had no clue there was so much that goes into good lighting! 💡
Dude this is crazy I've wanted to know this for years! Thanks very useful and simple 🙌🏻🙌🏻💯
Awesome. Thank you so much for this video. God bless you guys!
Thank you for doing this video. I’ve been struggling with my lighting.
Happy to help Shereen! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Let's crush 2020 👊🏼💯
Think Media YASSS! Let’s #Crushit Merry Christmas!
I love your videos, you have a knack for explaining things without making then over complicated.
I discovered during the pandemic situation (working remote), how better I looked on camera with the two lights (the front and the fill), so I was using just to lamps from my bedroom lol. I did not know about the back light, will go for it! thanks!
Lighting can literally Make or break your video I love how in depth you guys were on explaining light placement and different situations keep killin it with the content much love

I just bought the lights that are used in this video. I just got them and I'm using this video as a reference to set them up. Thanks for your help and advice!

Nice tutorial! I just got Dracast Lighting Set, and am super excited to use it in my videos!

This is a very helpful video! Thank you! I just bought myself a portable Neewer 176 LED to be used a key light! Hopefully that will help my video to stand out a little. Thank you!
This video was simple, really helpful, and dope AF. Great job Team TM! 😀
The most simple explanation that I have ever came across! Thank you so much!
I appreciate the insight on lighting set up. Working hard to learn these things about making better videos for my viewers. God bless you and yours.
Glad it was helpful! check out this lighting tutorial if you haven't already! czcams.com/video/cwex931rAVg/video.html
Thanks for being so concise and to the point! So refreshing when compared to other youtubers. Instant like.
awesome vid and easy to follow set up explanation. I'm probably going to buy the neewer lights you used since I already have a light that can work for the back light. Thanks for the straight to the point video!
simple and straight to the point
thank you for your amazing work!
I have two cheap softboxes and i'm planning on making standup comedy videos. I also made a diy studio with chairs, a small table and different kind of wall decor.
Having a small light source at the background is a good idea and i will try that. But i will have to move further from the background for it to work i guess. For filming, i use a Xiaomi Mi9 on a Smooth Q2 gymbal and a diy dolly track. Thank you for the tip!
Just using my windows now at specific times of the day - next up on my purchase list is lighting for sure!
I’ve got two soft box lights and a 19 inch ring light. Great information!
I'm so ready to up my game with lighting. bingeing all of the lighting videos tonight!
Wonderful explanation. I really love this short but powerful video full of information
This is to me the best fastest clearest video demonstration of 3 point lighting. Superbly put with just the essentials. If you could also briefly mention at what angle from the camera-subject line, you would place the key, fill and back lights, that would be the cherry on the icing. I had to sub 👌
Really helpful video. We’re just getting started, but We only have umbrella lights. We’re definitely going to check these ones out. Thanks!
So simple ... so informative, thank you!
Great tips. I use a ring light that I made myself and two umbrella lights. I still struggle with getting the lighting right in some of my videos.
Incredibly helpful! Thanks for this three point lighting setup tutorial!
Thanks for the suggestions and tips! Knew about key and fill but wasn't 100% sure on the remainder.
Super excellent and simple tutorial, thank you so much. Especially thank you for not making this 15 minutes long
This is awesome! Please make a series for lighting techniques! 💪🏼
Thank you so much for the demonstration. It's a very commendable video for my English class.
Why your videos are ALWAYS so perfect?? Thank you for all the support to youtubers
Thanks! That's a really cool tip about the back light
Wow! Quick, simple and powerful tip.
I can't wait to watch this! I need help with my lighting!
Thank you for this video! I'm currently working on trying to get my lighting right for my cameras. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A50 phone and an off brand HD camera. The phone does amazing video but the camera is below what that can do. So I'm trying to focus on lighting to try and make both of these cameras work for me when I need them.
winter hit and i have no more natural light to film with. this was so helpful, thank you!
short, sweet and to the point. BRAVO!
Thank you. That video was very helpful. I have 3 lights, ring light which stands in fron of me and keeps camera on and I got 2 Led panels by neweer. Now I feel like i will use ring light as my 3rd back light lol.
Absolutely stellar video on lighting!! THANK YOU!
I quickly looked around CZcams something I can show my high school students with 3 Point Lighitng (Because they get tired of hearfin form me... actually, I get tired of hearing my voice, lol) and I found this gem! Thanks for sharing and I will be showing them this tutorial. Thanks so much!

short and to the point! thanks for the tips! you guys are awesome
Thanks so much! I am currently using two soft boxes and natural window light. Can you do a video on tips to lighting when you wear glasses? I am always getting glare from my soft boxes when I move my head.
Just setting up the neewer lights today to start vlogging for my business. Im a total noob, but this is a great tutorial!

Really clear and helpful breakdown. Thank you!
Great tutorial, just picked up some GVM lights and this will help out a lot! (Except for the few videos I shot before seeing this... yeah random shadows!)
Great video. Most helpful. Thanks!
Thanks your vid really helped me with my video lighting setting
one of the best videos about lightning!
Probably the worst about lightning 🌩, but best on lighting I agree
I agree with ya.
Great simple imformative lighting setup. Thanks alot!
Awesome lighting video. I'm using a GVM 800-RGB kit. Thanks for making sense of it all! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
