Also of RS note: The BD collection called 12 Classic Westerns. It contains Ranown films as well as the following non-Ranown adventures: The Desperadoes, The Nevadan, Sante Fe, Man In The Saddle, Hangman's Knot, The Stranger Wore A Gun, and A Lawless Street.

Absolutely love the Ranown Westerns. I already own them on DVD and Blu-ray, but I'm tempted to get the Criterion UHD set as well. I like to recommend 7 Men From Now, which is only available on DVD, but it's definitely worth it. It's probably the best Scott/Boetticher collaboration.

Never heard of the Ranown Cycle before it was featured on Criterion Channel. So good! Great review! Also, my favorite was Seven Men From Now

Great review! I’m a big fan of the Boetticher films I’ve seen so far. Another Randolph Scott film he made that is not in the set but also worth seeing: 7 Men From Now.

Great review. I picked this set up during the sale last month but have yet to get to it. Randolph Scott probably made 50 Westerns. My favorite of his is "Ride the High Country."

Favorite westerns, The Searchers, Stagecoach, Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Sergeant Rutledge, Three Godfather, Wagonmaster, My Darling Clementine, Three Bad Men…….
Non John Ford westerns, Rio Bravo which is getting a 4K is great, Red River, Johnny Guitar, The Wild Bunch, Ride the High Country, Shane, Once Upon A Time In the West, Good the Bad and the Ugly, Winchester ‘73, Man From Laramie, Naked Spur, Broken Arrow, these Ranown films, Rancho Notorious, Ox-Bow Incident, The Shootist…
Ethan, that's a nice list of westerns there! I still need to see some of those, including The Searchers and Fort Apache.
@@20thand21stMovies it seems inevitable that The Searchers will get a 4K. The bluray came out in 2006 and it still is one of the most beautiful blurays. Being that it was shot in Vista Vision,the best format ever, a 4K would look absolutely incredible. Visually, it’s one of the most beautiful films ever made.
Need to pick these up. Idk how I haven't heard of these but right up my alley!

Aside from the Scott films, Bullfighter and a Lady was the film he was most known for. I’ve had these five on DVD for years and never heard them referred to as Ranown until Criterion announced this set. They were always simply the Boetticher Scott cycle.

Yup, Just the classic Randolph Scott Budd Botticher westerns....I guess we are showing our age.
I have these films in the Powerhouse Indicator Blu-ray box set and also got the Criterion 4K set so I could see how much better the tilms look in 4K.
