- WE WENT TO LATVIA AND STARTED OUR JOURNEY IN RIG, WHICH IS IN EUROPE
We know that LATVIA, RIGA is one of the CHEAPEST cities in the world - however we wanted to see how far we could stretch €100 EUROS in this iconic and HISTORIC city.
we went to GET A BEER AND LUNCH, we ate COLD SOUP, WE HAD A VENDING MACHINE COFFEE, WE CAUGHT THE BUS TO THE CITY CENTRE FROM RIGA AIRPORT. we got a £30 return flight from riga to manchester with ryan air and we got 2 black american coffees.
we obviously had to get another cheeky coffee from a street vendor and also visit the the beach in latvia.
the weather in riga was a little bit rainy in july, but it was warm and pleasant.

As an Irish person, this is inaccurate. The actual cost is closer to the likes of €120

If anyone is considering to visit Latvia, don’t listen to these comments saying it’s depressing and boring, it’s fun and can be relaxing for tourists and travelers. I wouldn’t say there’s a lot to see but there are few places. If I was foreigner, it would be more like a road trip to a different city/town than traveling to a whole different country.
That totally depends on what someone is interested in, you cannot just speak like that for everyone. If some traveler is interested in historical places castles and palaces then there is plenty to see in latvia for example
I agree. I think the only valid argument for people to call it depressing is the weather from November to late March (but that's like the case for most Europe). But during other times of the year, especially summer, it's all good

Come on there's tons of places where you can eat waaay cheaper than than and I'm not talking burger joints, but generally speaking Finland is pretty pricey
I am Latvian, i lived in Finland for a year. Atleast in Finland wages are higher

The cold soup or "Aukstā zupa" is made from fresh beetroot and that gives it it's distinct coloir
We have it in Lithuania too but we call it šaltibarščiai

i visited riga in 2019 and it was great
I spent a month in Riga when I was 16 for summer holiday. It is a beautiful city and definitely underrated. You should visit the old town. The architecture alone is spectacular. There was also a restaurant in old town and it was full on medieval. Latvian people are very kind and sweet as well. I’d like to visit Latvia again as a grown up to be honest.

@@MrSkinnyWhale Well, I visited Riga in the summer of 2010 or 2011. I didn't have any bad experiences and my pen pal who I visited was Latvian and was the sweetest person ever. I still remember some of the phrases like “ka iet?”, which if I'm not mistaken means “What's up?”. Also, Esma or Esmu Kruta which I think means “I'm cool” but I can't remember it exactly. It's been many years after all.

Ngl the only thing I found that seemed cheaper was the taxi, the rest just seemed hella overpriced or about the same as where I'm from. Then again I generally don't like spending money on shit I can do myself

I love Baltic states. I’d love to visit all 3. I love the architecture and for some reason I really like the trams and buses they have in Estonia and it looks like Latvia too from this video as they look so cool. Thanks for your video! I’ll save it for later.
I've been to all 3, I think I liked Lithuania the most. In my opinion Vilnius is the better capital city out of the 3 too. Lithuania is also cheaper than the other two.
If you're from the UK, don't be surprised when you get to Latvia and Estonia and realise the prices are similar to that at home!

Incase your wondering, the cold soup has the pinky colour mainly because its main ingredient is beetroot, which is pink ofcourse.

These prices are for tourists only, just insane, 100 euros you can live a week or two

@@LiveTheDash you didn't visit any tourist traps, only the cold soup was overpriced. And the potato pancakes can also be found for around 6 euros (but these where presented very nice).
