    Finally sharing another home renovation episode… and everything that happened with the painter 😓
    Btw I do want to clarify, I am grateful for all the things they did right (I clearly start the vlog happy and excited to share the entire process) however, the continuous back and fourth didn’t make it a pleasant experience or environment…to then having areas left undone and worst than before was very upsetting.
    Overall, always make sure to have a proper invoice and contract stating everything you’d like done very detailed so that you can have something to refer back to!

      Yes I agree for certain projects, and it’s also best to not go with the cheapest offer since it could end like this 😓 I wish we would’ve just gone with the company that was charging us more if they were going to do a better job. But you also never know!

      OMG! This has happen to allot of us. Going through different contractors that aren't doing a good job! But they need to be put on blast your charging your customers allot of money, where are the good contractors at? I mean how do you expect to have keep good customers with this type of attitude. Contractors you need to be accountable, and if you can't do the job pass it on to someone else. And to have a attitude and I'm spending my money unacceptable. Look around at the contractors that are out of business now! Let's RESPECT EACH OTHER! I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of this but I'm praying that this to shall pass. UGH this pissed me off so much for you both!! So sorry this happened to you and what you went through. A final walk through before paying the contractor the final payment is very important!! Happened to my husband and I when we did our backyard patio, horrible finish and wasnt complete smh..so when we hired another contractor for our kitchen and bathrooms, we made sure we were very detailed about what we wanted and had a final walk through before they left which gave us a piece of mind.
    Also, this is why my husband likes to do everything on his own for this very reason. The only disadvantage of this is it takes him months, years to finish since he learns as he goes. SHOUT OUT to Eric for his work!!! The trims look great!!

    😮I feel your frustration 😢we bought our house two years ago, and it’s so important to vet the contractors. I only take contractors from word of mouth, and have seen there work firsthand. Our house has needed some renovations and my boyfriend and I have tackled most of the projects, because we can only control the amount of detail we want and we save way more money that way. We are not experts but we do a ton of research, trial and error and are always happier, than paying a ton of money for have ass work. My boyfriend has become a plumber, electrician, carpenter and painter in this whole process. 😂 I would recommend to just take your time, no rush and only hire people who truly are going to do things to your satisfaction. Love your vids, you guys remind me of me and my boyfriend on so many levels. Sending you positive vibes and it will get better I promise 😃

    Hey girl! Yes always have a detailed contract because they can say anything. Also I would have never given them a final payment until everything was done and to my satisfaction. But lesson learned. I had a bathroom retiled with white tiles and some looked beige when they were done. I held back final payment until this was addressed. It wasn’t and they never received that payment. Yes your job was much larger so I feel for you. Your house is absolutely beautiful and hope all works out.

One thing I've learned in my years of doing real estate investing and remodeling is that any contractor that is readily available to begin work immediately is available for a REASON. Good contractors are usually booked out well in advance. It's also a good idea to talk to references of past clients. Hope the home improvement projects go smoother from here on out!

    I am so happy to see more of your homeowner journey. I love seeing how much work you and Eric have done on your own. Eric did such an excellent job with those frames. The colors you chose are beautiful. I agree that those painters did an awful job. They should be ashamed of the quality of work they delivered! I see no problem at all with saying their name and giving them a negative review, after all they did such an unprofessional job! Despite this setback, I am 100% certain that you and Eric will eventually make your home ideal for both of you and for Hudson! The home is perfect, location seems perfect, and you both have great taste and skills. You guys lucked out that the other house fell through, because I really love this one now. When you first showed a video right after you bought it I was a little worried because it looked dark and dated. But you guys are transforming it. It's gorgeous what you've done so far. Hi Nathalie! I’m so sorry this happened to you. I was getting so stressed out for you 😢. Genuine question, do you have any regrets buying a fixer upper home vs just buying a fully remodeled or new model home? It just seems like you’ve spent so much money, time, and labor fixing it. I would like to know your thoughts since I will be house hunting soon. Thanks for always sharing your life with us. Sending you love and positivity ❤

    • @nathaliefischerx3
      @nathaliefischerx3  Před 28 dny +5

      Ahh this question is a hard one to answer bc if I’m being honest I don’t regret it at all, I love that we’re making it our own and are able to do all of these changes… I would feel guilty wasting all this money on remodeling a house to our liking that’s basically a turn key home if that makes sense bc let’s be honest even when buying a turn key home it’s someone else’s design and style. We have definitely done a lot at once but I think if you buy a fixer upper you don’t necessarily have to jump the gun and do things right away if you want to safe money, specially with how expensive the house market is rn.
      But on the other hand if I had the money to buy a turn key home that’s my dream home with barely to no changes made I would’ve 100% done it. However, it being our first home I knew it was going to be a learning curve so I’d rather learn all that we are with this house and have all the knowledge whenever we’re ready to build our dream home in the future!

They were very careless in many areas where you specifically gave them details of work needed to be completed. Yes! 👉You live and learn! Thank you for sharing your story, I am a contractor myself and when I meet with my clients to discuss their renovations projects , for me transparency is very important on the scope of work and letting the client know if you’re able to tackle their renovation request. If I cannot, I would let them know upfront that this is not possible due to the amount of work and size of the project. Also when requesting for payment always pay a contractor in thirds and as you mentioned in your video is very important to have an invoice. The moment that the things started to go left for you and your husband. The contractor should’ve been fired from your video and you showing your pictures. Your request didn’t seem over the top. It was basic priming and painting, sanding and completing the simple task that you paid for. Again thank you for sharing.

Get recommendations from other homeowners in your area who can maybe tell you who to steer clear of. Just breathe and move forward, it'll all come together in the end. We had tile put throughout our home as well as backsplash in the kitchen and paid over 20k. Every day they left I would cry to husband angry about having to confront them the next day about something they slacked on. I literally had to have them take down the backsplash and redo it. This goes for electricians, plumbers, or any contractor what yore spending more than a couple hundred dollars for or have a potential for messing up something in your home.

      No that was plaster, he actually applied that well! But yes such a nightmare, just glad that’s over with 😓

    That painter sounds terrible, but I want to point out: The customer is always right IN MATTERS OF TASTE. We've all been misusing and misquoting that saying our whole lives. We, as customers, are always right in our taste regardless if the vendor thinks it's ugly and tasteless, but that's it. But if you have written comms that detail what he agreed to and then he didn't do it? You're owed a refund, for sure!

    I watch so many peoples court episodes with ppl suing their painters, hopefully you cans can get some sort of refund from the painter or they can come back and fix it.

    Wow what an awful experience! Never ever pay the full amount until you're happy. I hope you can take it further with a tribunal or governing body??
