This song made me cry as a little boy in 1990, and it still does today. Thank you to all our Vietnam veterans. And if nobody ever told you this back then, I'll tell it to you now... WELCOME HOME.
Thank you to my Uncle Bill and my Brother in law that both served during Vietnam. To all that were there thank you and Welcome Home. You all deserved that welcome home parade like they did for WW1 and WW2
After my Father died in 1990, I used to listen to this song over and over again. And 33 years later it still hits my soul. Right On Bret Michaels for this one.
To all of our Vietnam Veterans, those who are still with us suffering, and those who God brought home, Thank You for your courage, bravery, and determination . You'll never be forgotten.❤
I second that. I met a gentleman at my job that told me he fought in Vietnam. I thanked him for his Service but he refused to accept it. He told me his job was to go in and eliminate all the women and children. That broke my heart you could clearly tell that haunted him clean up to his dying day. I almost started crying in front of him because I knew that's not what he wanted to do but that's what he was told to do. RIP Barry and thank you for your service
Just a thank you to every Vietnam veteran, welcome home brothers with loving welcome arms. No judgment , just thank you for your service. You were called apone and did what you had to do for this country. Let the country answer for what you had to do.
As Desert Storm Vet, this song gave me realization of what Vietnam vet ptsd is. It's so real to me. My heart goes to my brother in arms who suffer from this.
Listening to this as a 20 your old woman in 2024 my papa used to sing this and every rose has its thorn when I was a baby and to this day I listen to it every night I wish my generation had music like this
My girls grew up listening to this band. My first daughter passed away at the age of 26 & loved this song & many more & would sing it on top of our coffee table like a rock 🌟 & always said this is for you momma❤ the vision will forever be with me ❤ we also had the pleasure of meeting you in Charlotte nc ❤️ 💙 God bless
My heart truly bleeds for you, Michele. I cannot imagine any loss more painful than that of a child. I am happy that you have the wonderful memory of your beautiful daughter not just singing - but devoting - this song to you. I will pray that you take solace and comfort in knowing that she is now in her rightful place in God’s Kingdom smiling down upon you. I also pray for you and your family that you continue to remember those wonderful moments with your daughter. 🙏

I totally agree even though your comment also brought a tear to my eyes. It really did seem so much easier back then, carefree, joyful. Exciting. Now as we have gotten older & understand the world a lot better there are days when it is hard to find that "something" but we must never give up on looking for it. ✌️ ❤️ 😊

This is my favorite Poison song because of the message in it. Especially when Bret says, "Sometimea I wish I didn't know now, the things I didn't know then" I'm sure we all feel that way sometimes
It’s 2023 and the lyrics and video are still relevant today. Poison really hits home with this song. It really does make me feel and think. That’s what a great song will do, I believe!
Lighters up here in Pennsylvania... After everything I've been through in the last few years, I always come back to this song whenever my days are darkest.
This was my favorite song at 15 years old. I had suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car wreck, being in a coma for six to eight weeks, my parents who only listened to gospel music played this song over and over on cassette tape until I was awake and in rehab, then I still played it constantly. I still l still listen to it on my phone sometimes as I do think it has substantial meaning for people in the world today ❤️
Aimee listening to this song over and over again and reading through the comments all very poignant then reading yours i could cry, i also acquired a severe brain injury n i echo your comment and second it. 🇮🇪🤘💓
I been on life support over 3 months from drugs the last time was a wreck my ex hit someone I wound up in Vanderbilt on life support again for 3montha with broke neck
"Sometimes I wish to God I didn't know now things I didn't know then". 25 years later, and that line (and this entire song) still move me like the day I first heard it as a highschool kid with my whole life ahead of me. Thanks for the memories, Poison.
This song brings me to tears every time. I'm a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and it makes me remember those that paid the ultimate price and their families for the beautiful gift of freedom that we enjoy every day. Thank you my brothers in arms! Love you all.
i fucking love this comment, it is non-judgmental, it just says you are thinking about your bros because of this song - i have never served in the forces but from listening to this, it makes me think about you guys and makes my heart bleed...bless you all 🙏
Who would have thought, after all these years, the most overlooked ban in the 80s, would have the strongest message to the ENTIRE WORLD TODAY!!! THANK YOU!!!!♥️🙏
Awesome government we have. They spit on those men who came home. Turned their back on them I’m so glad society changed. God bless those men who died and sacrificed
In this moment in time, we need these words to have it all make sense. Sometimes I believe we have these different ages of trials and tribulations because this is what mankind believes is wanted by the masses or it is what they want to push on all of us. I'm standing by in 2024 to keep by any means, the life I believe in..
Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of my grandmother. It was the last Thanksgiving that we spent together. She was in the living room, watching TV and I was in my bedroom listening to my poison CD. This song came on and the next thing I know, my grandmother, with her walker, had walked into my room and asked me to play this song again. When the song ended, she said that's a very special song. She asked to hear some other songs, so I played Every Rose Has It's Thorn. She said that's a really good song too. She asked what else do they sing. So I played Unskinny Bop. When that finished, my grandmother said, "Well I guess they have a wide range of talent" and then she walked back out to the living room. It's the last memory I have of my grandmother before she passed away.
You should post this on Poison's FB page. It is a beautiful story, and they will appreciate hearing it. They are great guys who really care about their fans.
Thats awsome. Im sure theres alot of us who just read your story thinking back of a good memory of their grandmother. Couple weeks ago my dad gave me a homemade stool i use to sit on at my grandmothers coffee table to eat my lunch. I watched Gilligan s island and lil rascals on the tv. I took the stool home. Sat it next to my coffee table n got something to eat. As i sat esting my pumpkin pie i started to cry. Just a wow moment. Its been close to 30 years since i last sat on my lil stool at memeres house.
The lyrics are timeless and still have meaning today. To all who have served and to all who made the right decisions in life I for one wish you all well.. ❤️
It's Friday October20,2023A.D. Austin Texas -i Jacob still Rocking out to Poison I was born in 1979 and I have been a fan of Poison since 1986. Dallas Texas
This song was underrated. This is a song we need right now. I know this song hit #4. Overall Poison was overlooked because their were so many 80's rock bands.
My son is currently in rehab he is suffering from PTSD because he doesn't know what is out there to relieve his suffering he is trying different drugs not prescribed and I'm sure he's wandering what to believe in at no fault of his own.
This song still bring back the same feelings it did the very first time I heard it when It was released. I was just a kid and now that I’m grown, the words just hit so hard. Timeless piece
I'm 70&this songs message hits Home every time I hear it. I"m a Vietnam Era Vet&know many of my Brothers who were there&are still messed up. We all need something to Believe in.
Hope all is well. War has done some serious damage to millions of our brothers in arms and very few get the proper treatment they need. So many end up with nothing. This song really hits it out of the park
Just when I think I can’t love Bret Michaels any more (or more than I did when I had a poster of Poison on my wall circa 1988), he goes and adopts a dog, named Bret Michaels, that helped save the life of a kitten, after hearing about the story via a rescue group's social media page and via his sister who lives in the area (apparently). So far, it appears Mr Michaels has only slightly altered the 6-year-old husky's name to Brett Jr. Thank you so much for adopting a 6-year-old dog and for helping find that very lucky kitten a home, sir! 🥰 Now, please get down here to Australia sometime, please and thank you 😊
Ain't enough money for the greedy bastards. There a lot of street musicians who can bring it just don't have multi million dollar companies backing them!
Because it's not music anymore. The record companies go after the money. And now days there's younger people think that rap is music. And I have always said that rap is not music not even close. I really thought green day was going to be the band to save the younger people from that DUMBASS SHIT rap but they just disappeared. I saw green day as really rock and roll they remind me of THE WHO they were that good.
Seems nobody knows how to write music from the heart, it's all about the money machine turning with no heart or soul behind it. Miss the music I grew up with. Feeling, soul, heat, touching millions of people. Good Ole days. Sigh.
This band is a multifaceted multi generational group. With the struggles they have had they somehow come out giving 1000 percent I am so glad to have grown up with them. Their music saved my life I was home less at 13 with 2 changes of clothes a Walkman and a few cassettes and everyday started with cry tough and it got me up whether it be in the rain or a friends car and helped me look at life as something to work for. All these years later I managed to make something of myself and I have to thank them for lighting the fire for me that still flames today. I don't regret my life and they helped me in a way only time could showed me. 💯 I am lucky to have had that I don't know what I would be if I didn't have the right energy to choose my path. But I know that their joy and love for music. Saved my life. Sounds silly to some but here I am and as long as they are I think we can all agree even in this downtime like the message in this song says. We gotta cry to, to get what we want even if all want nothing but a good time. Just never give up. Wherever you are in life what ever gets you through the day. Be proud. They didn't give up and even after the decades they gave us their best and the message is clear. Life is short don't miss a moment wasting energy on the things that bring you down or can'tcontrol. Peace and passion rock strong!

I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert and they were outstanding. This song has always struck chord with me but the older I get the more impactful it is.
I went to see them just for that song. I enjoyed the show. That song was the best part of the concert. I still get teary eyed every time I play it. So much truth and passion. Todays music doesn't compare in any way at all
@Akeli look up the verses, there's a lot of personal stuff there. The Vietnam Vet he's singing about is his cousin. The best friend that died was his bodyguard, Kimo.
Love this Song...I've seen Poison twice in Concert. ❤ I Love their Music 🎶 🎙🎵 Bravo Brett Michael's!! You're Awesome!! Thank you Vietnam Veterans for your service ❤
His solo from Nothing but a good time is one of the best solos in rock and all his fills are perfect for it. He was always overlooked for the speed guys that were popular back then. I don't even remember him ever getting an interview in a guitar mag.
My brother past away almost 2 yrs ago , he loved this band so much that he took me to see them on my B-day. Everytime I hear POISON it reminds me of my brother. I love Y'ALLS music . It makes me happy and kinda sad. Poison you're great😂❤😂❤
Not really Reginald, there are some bans today that their song really means something, like 3 doors down pages and it's not my time, nickelback saven' me and far away, evanescence my immortal. And then we have creed my own prison and one last breath and much more.
This song brings back memories, my neighbor returned from Nam after being in a firefight only 48 hours before, landed in San Fran only to have a hippie spit on him. He list it & when he came back to reality, he was standing over the hippie who’s face was nothing but a bloody pulp! A sailor came & told him to go to the USO area & wait for his flight, which he did. He told me this many years later with tears flowing saying continuously “I don’t know why I did it”, but war does crazy things to people? He’s passed on now, but he’ll always be my hero regardless!
Never judge a book by it's cover...... long hair Rock bands, biker dudes wearing leather jackets, the kid at school who wears all black, the computer nerd with glasses, anyone who has a different skin color than your own. Just try talking to someone different and you'll find out we're all not so different. We all have feelings, we care about the same things. We all need something to believe in.
I was married for 34years, divorced in2020. I didn't know it at the time but was diagnosed with severe PTSD and Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome, I never heard that term b4. I listen to this song everyday for strength and Courage. from all the hell I have been thru. Thankyou this song ❤
Poison NEVER got the respect the deserved....an 80s hair metal band etc....well this song proved they could write and play...beautiful. thanks guys :-)
Are you kidding me..poison is huge, kiss is huge (wore moms make up). They got the respect they deserved...there are many other bands that got lost in shuffle. Every Mothers Nightmare, Winger, WASP, Dangerous Toys...shall I go on
i had given up on life sometime back. due to a severe addiction to heroin. yet i found something to believe in. an if i had not found that id probly be dead now. 2 years clean and sober. so i hope you all find that something to believe in..
Good for you I'm a recovering addict and yes if God hadn't saved me I'd be gone. It's sad I get angry when people talk about addiction with no knowledge of its power. We don't wake up and think hum I'm going to destroy my life and my family's.
Yep, drunk here. God willing, it'll be 13 years for me this November. Never been a fan of this band, but I've always loved this tune. It SAYS something. Wish they would've done more like it.
I heard the song for the first time years ago and it turned my whole life around I am now 4 years sober and I feel so much better now I'd really like to thank Brett Michael's for writing that song he gave me something to believe in and that's myself,

My father, a Vietnam vet, cried 25 years of mental tears. I thank Poison for this poignant song.
My father still screams in his sleep about the war.
My father, too. He is a Vietnam nam war hero Marine who guards the gates of heaven now. ♥️

En chile se bailo está música.
I loved poison and I don’t know why you think they were over looked. They were one of the most popular bands out there in the day.

Song here has true mean of great music
In this moment in time, we need these words to have it all make sense. Sometimes I believe we have these different ages of trials and tribulations because this is what mankind believes is wanted by the masses or it is what they want to push on all of us. I'm standing by in 2024 to keep by any means, the life I believe in..
Hits harder now than it did back then.
Thank you
John Kuhne wow, what a wonderful lifetime memory. Thanks for sharing it.
That hilarious and very special!
Music is trash now days except for a tiny handful. This song is a timeless tune. Love it !!! Great job Brett🎸🤟💙🇺🇸
Poison is the greatest band of the 80s, and that is a bold statement I realize.
The lyrics are timeless and still have meaning today. To all who have served and to all who made the right decisions in life I for one wish you all well.. ❤️

Now, please get down here to Australia sometime, please and thank you 😊

Why is music not made like this anymore? This is amazing!
i wonder too
Ain't enough money for the greedy bastards.
Sigh.
@@jimwelsh997 check out dirty honey and greta van fleet, greta sounds like led zeppelin and dirty honey sounds like guns n roses mixed with aerosmith.
My late Mom said that Brett Michaels had thee most beautiful face of all the men in the world.... 💙💜
Peace and passion rock strong!
wonderful

How can you not become emotional with this tune. Poison was not just about glam. CC's solo was undeniable.
Change "was" to "is" in your comment and I'm with you. They're still rockin' bro!
Exactly.
CC is the soul of this song
His solo from Nothing but a good time is one of the best solos in rock and all his fills are perfect for it. He was always overlooked for the speed guys that were popular back then. I don't even remember him ever getting an interview in a guitar mag.
We need this more then ever, in this time. Love u all my people.

Back when music really meant something. Now all they sing about is nonsense. I'll take a band like a Poison anyday over Nicki Minaj or Justin Bieber.
True That Bro!
Agreed.
Absolutely!
Not really Reginald, there are some bans today that their song really means something, like 3 doors down pages and it's not my time, nickelback saven' me and far away, evanescence my immortal. And then we have creed my own prison and one last breath and much more.
john frazier I'm talking about now. Those songs you mentioned are great and I love them all but that was early 2000.
For all fans of POISON ❤

Poison NEVER got the respect the deserved....an 80s hair metal band etc....well this song proved they could write and play...beautiful. thanks guys :-)
David Stewart, I second that. They were very underrated and underappreciated.
They didn't get the respect because they looked like women.
they unfortunately, got lost in the shuffle. but then again when your major competing bands were G'n'R and Metallica...
They would have done a lot better without wear mommy's makeup and dressing like girls , case in point Metallica is still huge
Are you kidding me..poison is huge, kiss is huge (wore moms make up). They got the respect they deserved...there are many other bands that got lost in shuffle. Every Mothers Nightmare, Winger, WASP, Dangerous Toys...shall I go on
