A cool video from days gone by. I flew to Spain for the first time in '86, JFK-MAD, on TWA. On the flight over, I can remember my excitement seeing that same northwest coast of Spain en route to Madrid. I have been back several times over the decades since, but this still brings back such fond memories of that very first trip, and it's always so nice to see clips featuring the Queen of the Skies and the great Pan Am.

I remember flying to Madrid in the 80s and landing at Barajas. They never check my passport or immigration documents.

Fantastic. Not many videos like this exist on CZcams, in fact you'll find it hard to find any Pan Am trip videos! This flight was a mere two and a half years after the Lockerbie disaster on sister ship N739PA, and only 6 months before the sad demise of PA altogether. 1991 was not a good year in the US airline industry as we lost PA and Eastern that year.

Beautiful aircraft. Built in 1969. I noticed it was N733PA. The one that was supposed to make the maiden passenger flight to London in 1970, but was replaced with the ill-fated N736PA at the last minute. Nice to also see the rival TWA 747 accross the tarmac in the video as well.

Classic times. Some of those liveries and aircraft types brings back so many memories. The PA 747 definitely looks tired. Thanks for sharing.

@Willy Kaemena Great video. We need more vintage videos like this as commercial aviation gets more and more neutered and boring with the retirement of interesting aircraft like this. I grew up in this era of airliners. Miss Pan Am and TWA. Miss visiting JFK with my dad just to plane spot and see plenty of 747s lined up at the Worldport terminal. Also miss L1011s, DC10s, 727s, Concordes, Tridents (Europe), and even classic Russian airliners like the Tupolev 154 and Ilyushin IL-62Ms. I do miss when you had a version of this video with Tony Bennett and KD Lang version of "What a wonderful world." Why did you replace that background soundtrack from the other shorter version of this video?

By this point Panam was well on its way to being defunct. Quality was definitely suffering. A far cry from the quality of service in the 707 days.

Pan Am never had 747 combi ! If you spotted a freight door then this was a modified 747 for troop transport etc - modifications were paid by defence budget.

CRAF= Civilian Reserve Airlift Force. Basically planes modified under a very nice US government program where they pay part of the cost (if needed) to install main deck cargo doors, so that in the event of war they can be used for military transport

Enough shots of the interior of the clipper class. I have more PAN AM videos where you can see the service too. More than 30 years ago there was no internet. There was no CZcams culture. Be happy that we have these rare footages on video made by me.
